One told me that in Berlin a first class machinist was walking around unemployed with the ass out of his pants while young Jewish boys drove around in little, powder blue Mercedes roadsters. I don't know if they get into this but I thought I'd mention it: The capital of the "Weimar Republic" was Berlin. The official name of the country was "Deutsches Reich" same as it was since 1871, or realm of the Germans. The name Weimar Republic was introduced in 1929 by AH in a degradatory sense.

    • @RadioWhoPoo

    • @deepcosmiclove
      @deepcosmiclove 9 месяцев назад +16

      @@RadioWhoPoo I'm sorry but that's not true. The new constitution was drawn up in Weimar but that was it. The name of the country was the same as it ever was: Deutsches Reich. Of course nobody ever wants to give AH credit for anything so your interpretation of events is generally accepted as true.

      In a global economy, all wars are at the behest of the bankers. There's no such think as a non-banker war in at least 150 years.
      They loan to both sides for the arms and loan again to both sides for reconstruction. It's an evil so great the mind can barely accept that nobody sees it.

    I realize that Weimar was quite liberal and parliamentary and even democratic in many ways, more than previous Germany let alone the 3 R, and I realize the Nazis were pushing against it. But they were also a product of it, in the two senses that without Weimar they could not have come into existence or had the opportunity to rise against it, but also in the sense that the Nazis were a characteristic product of Weimar society every bit as much as a reaction against it. No other form of society could have been the perfect prelude to Nazism, nor would Nazism as we knew it have come out of any other. Weimar and the 3 R form a cultural unit, and the 3 R was a natural terminal phase of Weimar.

But they never tell about what Weimar was like. I'd heard it an artists, lgbt, party utopia of progressive society. Having watched a few vids now on it. This place was wild. Mustache definitely went at the wrong things in the wrong way. But you can definitely see how that chaos and poverty would leave people open to such out there ideas. It seems like a desperate society to me, if anything. Throw everything into leisure where everything's feeling futile. Although that decadence probably lent to the results just snowballing too.

      @@RadioWhoPoo I am an anesthesiologist. Ketamine is neither a tranquilizer nor a stimulant, even though it is unique among anesthetics in that it slightly increases heart rate, blood pressure and respiratory rate. Since it stimulates these, doesn't that make it a stimulant? Perhaps in everyday speech, but in medicine whether something is called a stimulant or a tranquilizer (depressant is the technical term) depends solely upon its effects on the central nervous system. Ketamine's unique action on the central nervous system, at the right dose, is that it separates someone's awareness away from what's going on. This is the "K hole" effect when someone does too much at a party. At very low "party" doses it gives a trippy quality to reality and a feeling of being less connected to reality, somewhat like when dreaming. It is therefore designated a "dissociative anesthetic," being neither a (central nervous system) stimulant nor depressant. Finally, by definition, one cannot take tranquilizers as stimulants because that's not what they do; they do the opposite. They mellow, chill, depress, tranquilize, etc.

Compare, for instance, your example of Da Vinci's rendition of the story of the Last Supper to Salvador Dalí's. Dalí is able to use the new understandings of space and time that modernists were exploring to invoke the divine in the form of the four-dimensional and universal Christ.
      Consider that we are biased when we look at history, to focus on those luminary examples which survived through the ages to reach us. We don't see, at least not as easily, the endless heap of things that were badly executed and didn't survive. The same is true of present times.

    The reason this all happened was because of the Great Depression, western powers like the U.S. , Britain, and France funded Germany so they could pay the war reparations. The early Weimar years were peaceful and somewhat prosperous for a country that just lost a war..
    From 1923-1929 just before the stock crash was dubbed the “golden years” of the Weimar Republic. They had comparative economic development with stability, early radical parties like the Natsocs and communists weren’t popular for a reason until the 30’s. The U.S. lented Germany 800 million gold marks to rebuild factories and raise the German standard of living.
    Let’s not forget the reason Germany got themselves in this mess, they violated Belgian neutrality to attack France and most of the war was fought there, if you lose a war you pay for it. They went and had their hissy fit in WW2 and guess what? They still had to pay for the war because they lost that one too.
