My advice is to immediately stop giving to ALL established charities most especially any that advertise in the press, or on either TV or radio, or are promoted by the BBC. Save the cash and give it to either an individual or a local charity of which you know much, preferably towards a project which is involved in the purchase of a particular object or piece of equipment so that you can physically see what the money has been spent on. This is precisely what we do in Freemasonry or try very hard to do anyway. We know only too well the pitfalls of giving to charity as we have been at it for hundreds of years. If you fail to perform due diligence, then expect to be completely ripped off. Most charities are no more than self-perpetuating scams where only a tiny percentage of the money ever gets anywhere near where it is supposed to go, while most of what does causes more evil than any good, especially when it comes to the 3rd world. Misplaced charity can and often does create the worst possible outcomes. Charity may make the giver feel more self-righteous but these idiots rarely have to deal with the consequences of their stupidity, gullibility, or laziness.
However, horrendously bad the results of mindlessly giving to established charities can be, only the devil himself could have imagined how bad being forced to give it to governments so often is. We are still paying for the last World War having only just finished paying for the previous one and are currently borrowing even more money to help continue a similar blood bath in Ukraine. Just to add personal insult to pure evil, being forced to pay for the BBC to convince us that this is any kind of a good idea. On the other hand, the cost of a top-level video conference with Putin is effectively ZERO.

I hate the National Trust, but I do think everything should be given back if it was indeed stolen, but not if it was purchased. Equally though, I expect the whole of England to be given back to the English. I want a referendum on immigration.

Logically then, we should ‘return’ all Roman era items, including the remains of built structures, to Italy; Viking artefacts to Norway or Denmark; and Anglo-Saxon archeology such as the Sutton Hoo treasures, to their lands of heritage. That should be some job repatriating Hadrian’s Wall. And as soon as geologists can agree on whether or not the bluestones at Stonehenge came from Wales …….

I completely agree…I’ve left the NT because of this madness! In addition locally they’ve restricted access to the local stately home by making prices all-inclusive… A minimum of £18 per person per visit. For a family of four this is a minimum of £72 are used to, and my children were smaller and we had a family membership, quite happily visit said stately home several times a month. When they grew older and didn’t want to join me, I kept my single membership… This meant that I could pay to park my car and walk my dog for £2. I’d always buy a cup of coffee, use the secondhand bookshop, visit the gift shop/garden centre and usually bought something. Nowadays, this expensive, £72 minimum visit for a family of four would mean that many families in the local area can no longer experience the joys of walking in a woodland setting and looking at a beautiful stately home from a different angle. It’s all or nothing. I strongly object to this, as I fully appreciate the squeeze on peoples budgets. I cannot support the National Trust any longer.
