    Diamine earl grey works so well as a water color paint. Has lots of shading and color variation thats beautiful when using distilled water. :)

    I appreciate seeing the Diamine inks--they make so many I always need to see reviees😁 I tried the Earl Gray quite a while ago, and I just ordered a bottle because I remembered liking it. I'm glad to hear it is a favorite of yours.

      Earl Grey is a really nice colour ink. I also like Earl Grey tea so I really wish Diamine would make a Lady Grey, perhaps one day!

    Love the China blue and the imperial blue! Thanks so much for doing these swatch videos! I’ve been thinking about going beyond my usual Montegrappa inks for variety. I just recently heard about Diamine inks and I’m very impressed!

    I have three that I like most. Number three is Earl Grey, second is Imperial Blue. The best one for me is the China Blue. For writing, blue inks are my favorite, along with greens. In green i am currently using Montblanc Irish Green.

    Thanks for this video it's very helpful as is the series.
    Yes Diamine Imperial Blue is one of my favourites. I like a little violet shading in some of my blues and have taken to mixing a little Diamine Violet into them. I have had good results. Though I am inexperienced at this I find using a syringe to add a few drops at a time to say 10ml and testing in between, works well. I only tend to do it if I get an ink that would otherwise be binned.

      Thanks Dave, yeah Earl Grey is a really nice grey ink. There are very few inks in my collection of over 300 where I'd say I'm content with that ink and don't need to buy another ink of the same colour, but Earl Grey is one of those inks.

    Another few inks added to the list. I love eau de nil and China blue. My favourite is still blue black from diamine. I love the very dark blue and how it can be black sometimes depending on how you look at it together with the shading on it. I love your videos btw, especially the ink ones which shows how you can give a pen another charm to it by changing up the inks.

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  3 года назад

      China Blue has started to become one of my favourites lately. I still have a hard time with blue black, and I think it's because I like colours that turn out to be the colours, so a blue black I am always torn whether it's blue or black.
      Thanks for the great comments and glad you're liking the videos!

    I've watched quite a few of your ink comparison videos now. I wonder if anyone else gets this... Sometimes when I look at the swab I really don't like the ink. But then when I see the dry writing sample of the same ink I think, wow! That's how I felt about Eu de Nil in this video. Hate the swab, love the writing. Now I'm going to have to buy it...

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  3 года назад +1

      Hi Andris, this is why I do the the wet ink swatch and wet writing sample and then let them dry because some people go by what it looks like wet, but some by a dry ink swatch and some by a dry writing sample. Personally for me it's the dry writing sample that's what I'm going to see on the page but I typically choose my inks by the dry ink swatch.

    Great third Diamine ink review Dave. I never knew of China Blue until this video. I love using Diamine Blue Velvet for its vibrancy and slight sheen properties. How would you compare China Blue to Blue Velvet?

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  3 года назад +2

      China Blue is an underrated ink in my opinion, I've seen it listed on the Diamine website for a long time but don't see it at a lot of retailers for some reason. I haven't tried Blue Velvet yet but it's been on my radar to get at some point.

    • @PenultimateDave

      I never did purchase the original Inkvent Calendar last year with samples in the calendar, I do have 3x Inkvent full size bottles of ink which I will be reviewing and will likely review some more. I'm not sure I'll be purchasing all 25 full size bottles though but there are quite a lot of colours I do like in that series.

    Dave, thank you for your labors... I have a question, you mentioned Akkerman and stated they are made by Damine, which I was aware of, but are they inks made by Diamine exclusively for Akkerman, or are Akkerman inks but Diamine with a different color name??
    Thanks

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  3 года назад

      It's always an interesting question and probably only one Diamine can really answer. I have around 65 inks from Diamine but not every colour and hue and have a lot of Akkerman inks too but I haven't yet found a Diamine ink that is identical to one of Akkerman. Some are very close like Diamine Ochre vs Akkerman SBRE Brown but still there's subtle differences in the colours. I have found some of the newer Diamine country exclusive inks to be even closed and pretty much identical which leads me to believe that there could well be identical colours, but I haven't found any yet in my travels between Diamine and Akkerman.

    Nope, the audio just isn't quite right, and sounds thin and tinny. This video you posted last summer sounds way better. ruclips.net/video/Wz5QYdz5MVA/видео.html
    Love that China Blue and I will definitely have to get a bottle. Diamine is an awesome ink maker.

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  3 года назад +1

      Unfortunately the thin part is the dynamic range (or lack thereof) and there's not a lot I can do about the lack of sound stage in the mic.
      My old mic is almost dead and also long out of production, maybe I can find a replacement somewhere which is somewhat reasonably priced NOS but sadly this is where mic's can be quite different in their approach. I may at some point try an Audio-Technica lapel mic and see if that's any good.
      I have also been battling with a dislocated elbow for the last 3 weeks which has made it difficult to record videos and edit. I'm trying to keep it in a sling and let it heal but it's going to take some time.
