Ab. Photo of the year mate. That photo at the 9 min mark is absolute gold. When I first heard that you were going to do a parachute shoot I thought yeah sure. You have the skills to pull this off. Well done.
Amazing informative video! Thanks! A breath of fresh oxygen among all those reviewing gear, slow-mo b-rolls, suffocating inputs from so-called influencers, instead of actual photographers. This is a real working sharing experience.
The hair choice was perfect, with the braids and close to head like a "Helmut " and the aviator style glasses. . I think the look is amazing and your stylist and makeup artist killed it. the boomed diffusion panel you used looked shiny like mylar, guess it could be a fine silk. I enjoyed the BTS video. thanks
THank Ted. The diffusion was Rosco Full Grid Cloth with a 1/8 CTS Gell on it that probably made it look like mylar, but it was jut gel. Again thank you so much.
First let me say, thank you for your time making these videos, they are packed full valuable information. I use the tennis balls on the end of the grip arm to prevent poking an eye out, but in the video I noticed they were on the legs. Was this to protect the roof from the feet or the feet from the roof?
It was to protect the Roof from the feet. The Studio requires it as a policy since the roof is soft. So we had to use tennis balls or these black pads.
Phenomenal Ab. Such creativity. Love the use of all this lighting and all the different techniques. Dud you know all the different ways you were going to light these shots? Or did you have an idea and have different ideas come to your mind that you tried during the shoot?
Hi Brad, I did have a basic idea of what I wanted my lighting to be. But I do tweak it as the sun moves or clouds come in. For the interiors, I just changes my key light. I started with an Indirect Octa behind me but went for the 100cm Octa above. Thank you for the great questions. This coming Tuesday, November 29th I'm planning to do a live stream on Adorama Twitch channel at 7pm and more into detail about the shoot.
What a great and detailed video Mr. Ab Sesay, thank you for sharing so much and thanks ADORAMA for having a professional of this level on your channel!
Another inspiring video. I love the specificity of your explanations (including the reasons behind choices). And kudos to your excellent BTS videographers!
very interesting. I like to see how you prepare the concept and the progression of the shooting. If you can produce more, I'll be here to view them. Thanks for sharing your knowledge :) Alain from Montreal, Canada

awesome breakdown of the planning and execution. One not so small detail is it appears no-one on your set has any idea how to properly wear and deploy a parachute,
Thank you Bill. I would also have to say you are 100% correct. LOL, You should have seen how long it took just to figure out how to put the harness on. I was really going for the dramatic effect vs accuracy. But I should do a bit more research next time, especially having a good friend who was in the airborne division I could have easily asked.
Hi, Alterick I searched online and at local military surplus stores. I just googled it and they started popping up. I ended up buying from three different places.
Amazing images and production! Needless to say -in case anyone is considering replication something like this - do not actually attach a model, anyone, or gear… to an actual parachute on top of a building ….😂
I did a shoot like this. But oped for a private airport my parachute was a huge cargo one things I learn this chute responses to man made wind and it must be tied down are it can lift everyone off the ground. Fan wind is not something i had sucess with I used huge floor fans 2. To fill the chute. And still it was not giving what I wanted light wise. I went with all hard light using 4 strobes why because the wind going in and out does not last long and you need to make good use of this, also styling is critical and the right model a must the back of the shoot comes with control cords. This can be used to have someone pull from the back inviting natural wind inside the chute here is a video clip of what I done that day m.ruclips.net/video/JsB7w7pJ5zs/видео.html
THank you for sharing Karl. I did some test with the fans in the studio ahead of time and found the right combination of one going high and the other low, and this wind machines produce a lot of air. You got great results. Cool multicolored shoot.
This is a great question. I think it's all a matter of taste, and in this case, wanted to light a wide area from above. The light was from above and I loved it. The thought of broad or short lighting didn't even enter my mind. But I believe this would be called paramount lighting. In this case, I don't think the light was unflattering at all, but if It was my face, short lighting, please! LOL But I often use overhead / paramount lighting even for myself when doing the talking head portion of the interview. For some of the images where I am balancing the light with ambient for a less lit look, I think it works better.
@@AbSesayPhoto paramount lighting in theory, but no butterfly pattern which her face would be strait on… broad cause no shadow on side of face… but anyway
The levels of your videos have gone through the roof! Absolutely fantastic! More please.

Why the broad lighting on her face..short lighting is much better and flattering

Dang. I stopped listening when I saw you had the lens hood on but not deployed.
I don't always use the lens hoods but will keep them on so I don't lose them. But it's a fair critique. I'm open to any all feedback.
