  • It wasn't the easiest decision...but it had to be done unfortunately. I loved my loc journey and so grateful for the expertises and what it taught me about myself. ❤️ In this video I describe and share why I had to cut them.

This is exactly why I want mine gone. I feel like a new cut will allow you to love on your hair and you'll have time to learn what works. The dandruff and build up is so hard to rectify once it starts. I love your cut Queen, you're beautiful 😍

Me too sis, my locs were juicy (7 years old) and everything but seborrheic dermatitis started a madness on my scalp. I dealt with it for abt 2 years (tried everything under the sun) and started losing some of my hair in the crown. Cut to a loc bob to see if that helped and then cut all of my locs off. My scalp felt instant relief and it was cooler than usual. Hair has grown back in places it was missing and easier to moisturise and retain moisture in my sclap and hair. Very few flakes exist. Sending you blessings for your hair journey!

I found that using minimal products in my locs help the best with dandruff and build up. I use a aloe Vera juice/ spring water mix and I spray that on my scalp and it helps relieve itching and dandruff. I also spray my hair with essential peppermint oil/ distilled water mix which is a know antifungal agent and will help get rid of smell. When I do a retwist I use Sulfur8 loc’ing and braiding butter. After a wash I use carols daughters vanilla and black castor oil leave in conditioning spray.

I love short hair! It looks good on you! I have neck length sisterlocs. I read a blog with pictures and the loctician recommended using only Lemon scented dishwashing liquid. She showed pictures. I'm trying it today or tomorrow. Lemon is a degreaser and removes buildup. I hope this helps!

Thanks for making this video! I've been contemplating on getting locs again BUT the lint and dry skin accumulating in the loc makes me cringe >.< My last set ended up smelling like a moldy wet sponge so I combed them out so fast. I love the look of locs but the lint, drying time and dead skin keep me on the fence. Anyways, you should try Sulfur8 for your dandruff. The smell isn't the greatest but it's been working wonders for my dry scalp

I loathe dirty hair and think of the lint issue all the time.
I’m 6-years into my loc journey and have reconciled with the fact that lint is part of it.
Even if you Freeform, there’s maintenance.
Failures in having or keeping locs is due to lack of understanding of the process, as well as the bumps and bruises that come along with it.
    Best of luck to everyone…💫

I’m 9 months in and my hair on the sides have always been thin. The advice I take from my loctician doesn’t work and every time I retwist, I feel like I’ve wasted money because they never stay twisted. It looks like I’ve never gotten one after this whole time of having them and they are crooked and bent all types of ways. Definitely cutting them off.

I feel you so hard on this. I'm 14 years into my journey and I'm so very tempted to cut it. Ive always loved long hair, but i feel as though I've reached a stage where I want to rock a twa and just be healthy and happy. I'm so tempted by the tapered afro styles too.
But im wondering if I'll regret it 😞
My hair doesnt have lint or anything but it's heavy! I don't want to cut it into short locs because i know that won't work and that I'll end up cutting it all off so it's best to do it in one shot
Also, I am experiencing a little thinning on the crown and it gets so hot at times!! Sometimes i wake up in the night sweating 🥵 😵 and i tell myself that i should cut it now and care tor my short hair rather than wait.
Its tempting!!! But I had a twa once and that was a nightmare as my hair tangles easily. Combing after wash days were 😢and combing after waking up was 😢😢
I guess I'll have to find out how women with twas comb and keep their hair from tangling 😭
