Hopefully, you were lucky enough to see him live. His bass sound was like thunder - powerful, rich, full sound and definitely loud. This live album (Live at RAH) and Live at Leeds are the Who at their best. They ALWAYS put on a great live show. Roger was under rated as a lead vocalist.
Read Pete's autobiography. He never lets on how Dependent live performance varied only by what Daltrey brought to the show. Pete can play perfectly and perfectly wierd 50 X in a row. All th epressure is on the "Sidemen". Acks
I love Pete! I do have an affinity for those who play the ol juice harp - A surprising one I discovered recently was Chris Robinson from The Black Crowes - song is Been a Long Time (Waiting on Love). Also Aimless Peacock is crazy good on the musical progression - give it a listen. Reminds me a bit of Loggins & Messina back in the day.
Started off so modern and strange, yet became one of my favorite takes on the song by the end. What a truly dynamic band. Just saw them live in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center. They were incredibly good, it's uncanny for their age. His voice sounded no different that it did here. And their sound was truly remarkable. They had a whole orchestra too. Was fantastic.
Omfg what Roger does with a harmonica is frigging magic Jesus how does he not pass out singing and playing that thing flawlessly right after the another haha Pete looks impressed in the end lol
John always said the song he most hated to play live was Magic Bus because it bored him to death just basically hammering away on his E string for 10 minutes. As a bass player myself I can't say I blame him. But WTF! it's still one of the Who's best songs live, right? So it's really cool that on this tour from 1999 the band really spiced up the ol' Bus and you can hear The Ox lending a kind of Cool Swagger bass line to it. And it F''img Rocks! Thank you for posting,,been looking for good version of this for going on 20 years now.
I know Pete, and John especially, hated doing the Bus, but man they always seem to be having fun at the end of every version they did it live. MISS the OX!!!
Now get the bus I'm on it. This n is how the bus goes. I love that and this is my favorite who tune. It's bus ridn music. .....thank you for making my ride more meaningful ...I may forget to get off. Ya. Everyday I get on the bus.
1:06 "Nooo!" con el tiempo como la enemistad entre Daltrey y Townshend se volvió un chiste y ahí esta la creatividad; el que lo hayan usado en una canción "menor" a dos voces. excelente!
THE WHO must not of gotten involved with PHCICIATRY 's LSD GREAT THING ABOUT BEING 65 I can play music loud. i only beed another 35 years out of my ears. great sound boys!
Townsend said he hates performing this song,we all like it. It sounds like it's backward chords, kind of like walking upstairs backwards, but that's what makes The Who unique.
+DesertDigger1 Pete actually said it's his favourite song to perform! Watch the 30 years of maximum R&B DVD, it's on there...he just says here that sometimes it is awful when they play this version because the audience doesn't get in the mood or it doesn't swing enough
He may have very well said that in an interview. However, the job of a bandmate is to play it like you love it, no matter your personal feelings towards it. And Entwistle makes the best of that "one note", with his signature thundering pentatonic riffs up and down the fretboard, bending that one note into one hundred. A good musician can do that. But of course, you probably wouldn't know about that ;-)
Just because you might be The Who's biggest groupie, you don't know shit about playing bass or being in a band. It's called a "pedal tone" and has been the foundation of many great rock and roll songs. John plays that one note and many more during this performance with his unique style, better than you will ever hear or understand. Try again.
Everybody is moving at the end! Except the Ox, John is just standing there hitting every note and not moving at all. By far the least appreciated musician of the who
Ox left the building soon after.. classic rock & roll demise - entertaining a sweet young lady in an LA (or LV) hotel. that's the way 2 go if U can afford it kids :)
Don't forget the cocaine with the sweet young thing. Remember the line in "Old Red Wine" - They say you turned in While the sun still shined That gorgeous girl with you Was highly primed She said she'd take you Way down or way up She might break your heart She might crack you up
Think I'll get meeself a harp. great music and no wonder why John Entwistle blew his own (died of a heart attack later on) after seeing all these older looking neds (non educated delinquents) in the audience !.
R.I.P. John Entwistle. We will never forget you!
The Ox J.E. RIP!
The Ox
Magic Bus is probably their best live song. Ever since Live at Leeds it has been a classic.
John Entwistle is very cool and one of the best bass Players I have ever seen.
Tocava muito
Along with Bruce Foxton and JJ Burnel
John is so badass on this.
One of the greatest bands of all time!
Absolutely
@@thekingsservant1793 : I totally agree
The Beatles man ❤️☮️🤘🏼
Holy crap - Roger Daltry rocks the hell out of that mouth harp!!!!
Read Pete's autobiography. He never lets on how Dependent live performance varied only by what Daltrey brought to the show. Pete can play perfectly and perfectly wierd 50 X in a row. All th epressure is on the "Sidemen". Acks

P. S. AND AT ABOUT 60 ISH MAN. THINK 50 years ago when they where everywhere and then they where firsting everything 🤯
i'll say this it's much better than the solo at the end of baba o riley
Roger Daltry with harmonica solo, outstanding!
so much better than baba o riley
Roger is the best front man, strong-powerful-funny. Best band of all times 😍
John is such a beast. He's playing the fastest out of all of them and is the most stoic. 😂
Magic Bus featuring a rock solid.......backbeat???
Now go listen to The Who - Magic Bus Live at Leeds 1970
This just knocks my socks off ... STILL! Perfection!!!!!!!
Was fantastic.
pure post Moon magic. Absolutely blistering version. Right up there with Leeds for me.
Holy Shit! Eternal gratitude to Pete and Roger for what they gave us.
Royal Albert is an amazing venue. Great acoustics.
That's some rock n roll right there son.
Omfg what Roger does with a harmonica is frigging magic Jesus how does he not pass out singing and playing that thing flawlessly right after the another haha Pete looks impressed in the end lol

it was the A string lol, but i can see how it could be boring for him
maximum rythm and blues
Rog still has his nice hair. He and.Robert Plant have the most beautiful thick LUSCIOUS hair in rock and roll!
his hair turned white now, but still beautiful ✨
Rockin'!! great Live Version
sadly sadly missed Keith Moon
Yes. But Zack is a perfect successor. The son of Ringo, trained by Kieth himself, I'm told.
Keith would be proud of him I know it
The who one of the last of true Blue bands
j'adore ce groupe.........
Townshend-sonic genius!
That fookin bass tone, dear lord.
I know Pete, and John especially, hated doing the Bus, but man they always seem to be having fun at the end of every version they did it live. MISS the OX!!!
John hated it, Pete loved it
The sound mix is astounding!
Incredibile band, grandissimi
Best Live Band Ever (my opinion)...but followed them live sine 1966.
Very good fantastic band in the world ,, forever ever
Les Who avec zak starkey super moment musical et chant merci à vous tous bonne continuation messieurs
I wannit,I wannit,I wannit......you caaaan have it.......great*****
Great song, Great Beat!
Now get the bus I'm on it. This n is how the bus goes. I love that and this is my favorite who tune. It's bus ridn music. .....thank you for making my ride more meaningful ...I may forget to get off. Ya. Everyday I get on the bus.
The godfather of Bass
Holy shit entwistle is fucking insane.
love , love, love, and some more love!!!!!!!
Keith Moon, you are unique!
insuperable!
1:06 "Nooo!" con el tiempo como la enemistad entre Daltrey y Townshend se volvió un chiste y ahí esta la creatividad; el que lo hayan usado en una canción "menor" a dos voces. excelente!
Hats off to who recorded this, i suspect the mighty bob pridden had a hand in it 😂
You know you're good when you can rely on the crowd to finish the lyric. And also when you're The Who, then you're good too
John
I love John entwistle!
Great song thanks for the video
John aint much to watch; but he is the bomb!!!
this whole concert video really accents Johns playing. a must have
Shoot I could watch those fingers fly across that bass all day and not get bored
Indimenticabili.
Amazing version, how they made it so funky
Loving the funky take
Thanks Pete.
“Caught in the crowd” brought me here.
Unbelievable!!!!
Awesome
My Favorite band frontmen are Roger and Jim Morrison!!
It Doesn’t get any better than the WHO!!
that ; s music !
Uno de los mejores directos, sobre todo el del Live At Leeds
Harp is nice
Great
That was the best thing I’ve ever heard in my life 😂
so good for so long
THE WHO must not of gotten involved with PHCICIATRY 's LSD
GREAT THING ABOUT BEING 65
I can play music loud. i only beed another 35 years out of my ears.
great sound boys!
John makes most of these songs come alive, totally
It's just like Magic Bus by The Who, just without the melody, rhythm, and Keith Moon's playing the wood blocks.
I don't need a magic bus, i need a magic bank account.
Damned thats fucking right. Me too.
Townsend said he hates performing this song,we all like it. It sounds like it's backward chords, kind of like walking upstairs backwards, but that's what makes The Who unique.
+DesertDigger1 Pete actually said it's his favourite song to perform! Watch the 30 years of maximum R&B DVD, it's on there...he just says here that sometimes it is awful when they play this version because the audience doesn't get in the mood or it doesn't swing enough
it was actually entwhistle who hated this song
Thumb and forefinger fell off hand before the guitar and vocalist would End.
I love what john did right at the start of the video just the sound and how it trumps petes sound
entwistle so underated just the best bass
The song That John Entwistle hated the most to play on Bass.
Free ride on the Magic Bus.
Where would you like to go?
Entwisle loved playing this song, felt there was little for him to do.
Apparently you're not listening very well either. Thunderfingers rocks that "one note" out into about 100 perfectly rockin' bass notes like a boss!
John said it in an interview.
He may have very well said that in an interview. However, the job of a bandmate is to play it like you love it, no matter your personal feelings towards it. Goodbye.
That, as they say, is how it's done.
Ese bajo es colosal.
AHHHH,The OX.No band will ever sound like this again!A Fucking shame.
The WHO at there very best.
YEP!!!!!
A fairly close second to the "music school" version Pete did at about the same time. BUT... we can no longer see it on YT for some reason. Sigh.
Zack Starky on drums
For the people who don’t know
it sounds like a horn at 6:46
Lol @ that crowd
Who said anything about Gettin old 🤔, that's right they did 🤯👍never burn out.....
Rodger, the Ox, Pete and Zak absolutely killing
magic bus
Grey whistle test thrown in as well
Bruh, it ROGER.
Royal ,,
Everybody is moving at the end! Except the Ox, John is just standing there hitting every note and not moving at all. By far the least appreciated musician of the who
he said he hates playing this song since he only has to play one note the whole song more or less
Ox left the building soon after.. classic rock & roll demise - entertaining a sweet young lady in an LA (or LV) hotel. that's the way 2 go if U can afford it kids :)
Don't forget the cocaine with the sweet young thing. Remember the line in "Old Red Wine" - They say you turned in
While the sun still shined
That gorgeous girl with you
Was highly primed
She said she'd take you
Way down or way up
She might break your heart
She might crack you up
Apparently you're not listening to Thunderfingers very well. He rocks that "one note" into about a hundred thundering perfect notes!
he said in an interview, playing this song bored the shit out of him. too easy and repetitious..
adoro rok
top
4 people missed the bus

Rainha = Boa Fé. Parlamento = projetos escusos.
