Since, after the failure of the 1930, "The Big Trail", (which I liked), John Wayne was reduced to playing leads in
"B" westerns, I doubt that he would turn down major roles in 1936's "The Plainsman" or 1939's "N.W.M.P."! Today,
we think of Wayne always being the "superstar' that he became, but in the 30's, he definitely was 'second string'
to 'stars' like Gary Cooper or Clark Gable, so picking him for parts, over them, is hard to believe!
