That was Sergio Leone's brilliant idea to cast Henry Fonda in the role of Frank the cold blooded killer in Once Upon a Time in the West. One of Fonda's best roles.
@@musicman201047 Yes Sir, correct! The movie didn't go down well in the US at first, because of what you mention. The usually clean guy suddenly playing the villain bordered on blasphemy lol. Fantastic film!

They didn't mention Once Upon a Time in the West. The movie (& what the pictures were from) here was How the West Was Won, which was 1962. The mistake is that Fonda wasn't a villain in that Whoever (or whatever) put this together confused the two movies. Very good list especially adding Lee van Cleef which many people ignored because Van Cleef starred and gained popularity in spaghetti westerns, someone commented that John Wayne should have been at number 10 and Clint Eastwood at number 1for being a better actor etc,etc not realizing that this list is of famous western stars and not of great actors if good actors was was the case then I'm sorry to say Clint Eastwood most definitely has no place in this list even being my personal favorite actor of all time.
1. Clint Eastwood 2. Charles Bronson 3. Lee Van Cleef 4. Terrence Hill 5. Gregory Peck 6. Henry fonda 7. Eli Wallach 8. Robert Redford 9. Lee Marvin 10. Bud Spencer
Even Clint conceded that he was below Wayne when it comes to westerns. The Wayne Ford collaboration was the pinnacle of western film making that will probably never be equalled.
No, Lee Van Cleef did not appear in all three "Dollar Trilogy Movies." He was in "For a Few Dollars More" and "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly," but he was not in "A Fistful of Dollars."

Wayne has sheer volume, but there are several Wayne films I could care less for. In that B category is where I think Eastwood shines: Two Mules For Sister Sarah, Coogan's Bluff, Pale Rider, Hang'em High. The only B tier Wayne film I like watching is Big Jake. Both men did well outside the genre and I think Wayne takes Clint Eastwood on that with most memorable films Like Sands of Iwo Jima, The Quiet Man, McQ, Hatari, Donavan's Reef, The Green Berets etc. I would say Eastwood conceded that title when he went behind the camera.
