One of the best explanation videos of these power blocks I’ve seen so far.
@@ronburgandy7571 thank you!
Thanks for another amazing review Vern! Keep up the good work. I’ve had these Powerblocks Exp up to stage 3 for sometime now & couldn’t be happier with my investment. I train with them 4x a week and I must say they are as durable as they come. If anyone is debating on getting them, just do it. You’ll get use to the toaster movement in one workout. One note I’ll say, these sports are better than the other model elites, especially if you have bigger hands. More open room for your wrists & knuckles. Glad Powerblocks improved in their designs. When I had the elites it was just an inconvenience with the little space I had to work with. My wrists would lean against the inner tubes my arm would go numb at times. Ended up selling those & getting these sports due to the open space design
Thanks man I appreciate the love and the info on the some of the differences between PowerBlock models.🙏🏾
I’m currently waiting for these to be delivered to my house in two days, been contemplating getting them. Bought them Sunday and decided to check some videos out. Just found your channel thanks for covering them so well I’m excited for mine to arrive
Congrats! I've wanted a pair for a long time. And I love em. 😁
I’ve had my powerblocks for 9 years now. No issues with the prongs, etc. use them 3days per week minimum. I also like turning them upside down and grabbing the two bars for pullovers, etc. I have the 5-70 USA made ones.
That's how I do French press too!
I think this is the best review of the power blocks. really covers all positive and negative scenarios you may run into while using these
Thanks allot! I appreciate you taking a second to say that. I try to keep it real with every review.
Great review Vern, love your channel! After watching this, I'm going to try to have my employer buy a set for us.🤞 Health and wellness baby!!
Thanks for watching my friend! I'm glad it was helpful and I appreciate the feedback.
Awesome video. I hadn't thought about having to grip the handle through that box. And "you diggies" 🤣
Thank you! It's probably the biggest draw back of those things but we work around it. And the you diggies are another nice touch by PowerBlock. 😁
Wow that’s awesome you always got the good stuff💪💪
Thanks man! We're trying to get the stuff we think you all will want us to review! 💪🏾
I just got these at Woot for about 1/2 the normal price on Amazon. Can't wait to try them out!
@@aaronbrown3402 Dang that's awesome! Congrats!
Me as well haha. It was $ 413 shipped for 10-90.
@@ronburgandy7571 I love that deal!
Been using my set EXP’s for about a month now. I do like them but they are a little challenging to hold correctly when doing 40lb goblet squats. They can be bulky. Otherwise they are good for overall full body dumbbell routines.
Edit: I also agree with your opinion of the plastic adjuster. They are flimsy and it can be a little time consuming when moving between weight settings when working through a routine.
I feel you on the awkwardness! I usually grab the bottom but I still don't love it. But it is what it is right? 🤣 Thanks for watching and hitting me up here man.
For the older model I had, you could grab the bottom 2 cylinders like handles and it was actually better than your typical dumbbell for the French press - that metal piece between the bottom cylinders was not there. The old model I had also had a single metal selector rod - I found that easier to use too.
I wish they left that part out. That would make em better. Thanks for the Intel!
@@UsawaFitness I sold them a while back when I got into a condo that had a gym. Recently, I got Nuobell clones from a small company in the area - overall they are more functional than the powerblocks but I could definitely see the fake Noubells breaking over time whereas the powerblocks are much more durable.
@@steverapos3904 ok ok. Good to know! Thanks man.
At 8:55 you are saying weight lifting temporarily not as smart. 🙂. Love the video, that little bit about safety for those things falling out was good.
Thank you friend! I appreciate you watching and the comment.
bought these at an auction for 20 bucks couldnt figure out how they worked thanks
You lucky duck! 👏
Wow!
Score!
I just bought a set of these locally secondhand for $60!
$60! Wow! That's the deal of the century! Congrats 🎉
I just hopped on the WOOT deal for about $500 for the 90lb set up with the stand shipped
What! You got a link?
Costs even less without the stand @@UsawaFitness
@@SleptOn I love it.
These are great, I mean I like having unique looking equipment in my gym bc it makes people who don’t know about gym equipment curious about them. However, I passed up on the block and went with a traditional adjustable dumbbell bc I didn’t like that it took longer to change weights. When I’m working out, I have a routine and rhythm going. The extra time changing the weights was a bit weird for me. Also, another RUclipsr was saying that some movements may feel different and awkward compared to what you’re use to.
But these look great. If it works out for you, I’m jealous bc I wanted it to work out for me but it’s not for me 😅
I get you on all of that. These things are all subject to user preference. I have some love and hate for just about every set I've reviewed. :-)
How do you find them against the Sport EXP 50! Thank you very much for your work :)
Thanks for watching! 🙏🏾
Yep. The USA’s are nice, but it doesn’t have an open grip like this one does. But the usa’s do have a more open back, similar to the top.
Interesting! I didn't know about that!
Good video. Had bowflex 552. Do you like these better?
Yes I do. I just wish they went up to 80lbs. I like that they switch quickly too. Mine have been so durable the only thing that I really don't like is how wide they are. I have a couple of other videos on them and several other dumbbells too. Check some of them out and hit me up in the comments again if you have more questions.
I have a stand and adjust them on the stand. Hasn't been a problem to me
A stand is definitely the way to go.
Those are the Sport EXP not the Pro. Pros are the ones with the polyurethane coatings on the plates. I have the Sports too and love them!
Nah these are the Pros. I own em.
amzn.to/3jWkHjp
At least that's what they call em on Amazon.
These are the SPORTS... powerblock.com/product/sport-exp-adjustable-dumbbells/
And they look like what they call the Pro 50. I think you're probably right and that they label em differently on Amazon.
To hand them off, hold them by one of the bottom tubes that the adder weights go into.
That's what I've been doing it's just a little more cumbersome then some of my other options. But that does work.
I have no issues whatsoever with the cradle, handle, design, etc. They work great. Pick them up, curl them, press them, put them down. Keep it simple lol
I feel you on that we just move around over here a lot so it's a thing but I totally get it if you don't have to move to much.
Classic example of you win some and lose some when it comes to adjustable dumbbells. The older PowerBlock models like the Elites has the padded wrists support bars that will enable you to grip the weight bar handles and pass off the dumbbells to your client to do the exercise easily.
You're right! Every single brand adjustable dumbbell has a flaw of some kind or another. Some of my us can get our hands in there but others can't even get close! 🤣
I’m honestly debating about buying this set
Make sure you choose the right pair on Amazon look for "exp" in the title of you want to be able to expand them.
Awesome!!!🦾😎🆒
Thank you! 💪🏾
Brother Vern- you have a typo. You have their, instead of "they're".
Powerblock has some heavier options as well. The design may be a little limiting, seemingly to only have the solo user in mind
I was wrestling with that spelling. Thank you!
@@UsawaFitness For sure! You always put out such professional content- I knew you would appreciate it.
You will never know the true scope and impact of your content-
@@fatboitino2 Man thank you. Honestly I needed the last part of that comment. I've struggling with feelings of failure surrounding this channel lately. I'm in it for the long run but I've been really struggling with negative thoughts. Thanks for the correction and the motivation.
How are they when compared do the Sport EXP 50?
Very similar! Just material differences really.
Bought them on woot today for $200. Plus $89 for stage 2
Dang! I need to get on that deal! I need the expansion kits! Thanks
@@UsawaFitness both expansion kits are on sale there too. 50% off.
I am always selecting the wrong weight
Preach! I do the same thing! 🤣
Mine just fell apart. Granted I've had them for at least 10 years but the plates are dropping and are brittle and snapping off. For no reason, never abused, never left my house, always kept on the stand. Very disappointing and dangerous. seems the horizontal metal that holds the left to right side plates is all plastic where it screws into the plates. And I guess it just gets more and more brittle over the years and just snaps at some point. I see power block have the thinner all metal plates on one of their products and I guess that is all metal where the connection occurs, I'd only consider that design, the metal to urethane is a disaster waiting to happen. Upshot...don't get powerblocks. My next purchase will be Ironmasters and now I'm completely not trusting any of the gimmicky stuff, even snode or peppin. Unless I can see exactly how it works and is truly all metal I'm not messing with it. speed and convenience on something that can break over your head and that you would have to pay for twice is just not worth it. A google search shows I'm not the only one this happened to. Powerblock should do a recall.
Dang sorry that happened to you bro. I've had my power blocks for 10 years and they're still going strong but I've only had the power blocks for a year or so. Well see how it goes but if they hold up for 10 years I'll be petty happy.
Interesting. I’ve seen some say that they’ve had their PB for 20 years with no problems. Some of the older ones had 10-15 year warranties. Perhaps yours are covered.
Check out the Rep x Peppin adjustable dumbbells.
All-steel.
Significantly less than the peppins due to efficiencies in Rep's manufacturing network.
End game dumbbells.
@adamj2683 Will do! Thank you!
@@UsawaFitness no problem! Coop from Garage Gym Reviews says (in the 2024 adjustable dumbbell roundup) that the original peppins are his #1 pick if money is no object.
Now that the rep x peppin collaboration has brought the price down this rugged & all-metal dumbbell design will probably gradually take over the market. Almost all adjustable dumbbells other than powerblocks are disposable plastic garbage unfortunately, and won’t last a lifetime or even survive a single drop.
Also with the peppins even though they adjust in 10 lb increments you can quickly adjust them in 5lb increments too, by putting one selector at 30 and one at 40 it will go to 35, for example. And you can adjust in 2.5lb increments with these little included steel plates that quickly attach to the dumbbell.
You diggies
🤣
Sick Vern.
Thanks man!
