      They look awkward. I would rather have sets especially if I am advanced enough for 100. I am currently only up to 80s. But I had to buy em all to get there, you know. So why on earth anyone goes straight to these is beyond me.
      And a no drop wish is awful. Sometimes they need dropping. Way better investment to go 1800 than 600 because 1800 will last a lifetime of lifting.

    What a great review. I was lucky enough to get the power block sport EXP for $ 413 shipped from Woot. I really like them and for that price mine go up to 90s which is more than enough for me. I’ve fiddled with them a bit and like the quickness of the change also I don’t mind that cage design either.

    I purchased a pair of the NordicTrack adjustable dumbells back in September, and I'm very happy with them. They go from 10 too 55 in 2 1/2 or 5 lb or 10 lb increments. Prior to these I had York spin lock dumbells up to 60lbs I bought in 1990 😅 and 2 pairs of 80 and 90 lb hex dumbells.

    I have a pair I bought used, work great. That being said, they are quite pricy these days so I would opt for the new Rep Peppin dumbbells if i was buying new. Also, i think the Snode dumbbells are a good competitor to Powerblock since those are also durable enough to handle some emergency drops. If i was picking a powerblock model to buy new, i would probably pick the Elite model for the following reasons: 1) Cheaper and goes on sale; 2) All metal as opposed to the urethane that can break down over long periods; 3) A little more compact and work basically the same.

  • @steverapos3904

    I think a simple thing they can do to further increase sales is offer a heavy handle kit - a handle that weighs 20 pounds empty and has 4 adder weights in it to bring it to 30 pounds - than you can get up to 120 for this set. Beyond 120 there is not much of a market but at least you dont have to buy a full new set. Good idea to keep people with using their Powerblocks as opposed to selling them to buy IronMasters or Rep/Peppin when they need more than 100 pounds.

    Thanks for all these useful videos you’ve been putting out. I am looking for a budget cable crossover power cage. Do you have a recommendation on a certain brand that’s a better quality/more reliable? Ritfit, mikolo, major fitness, or another brand? I am open to any thoughts. Thanks!

    • @LukesGarageGym
      @LukesGarageGym  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Kyle! You the man!! Appreciate you supporting the page brother!!
      HONESTLY, I’ve tried all three. And to be honest, they are ALL pretty much the same thing. If I were you, go with 2x3 over 2x2 racks. Also, go for ones with higher weight capacities to give you a better chance of progression on your lifts. Major Fitness and Rifit I’ve had the customer service with also. I would say those two brands are your top winners.

    • @LukesGarageGym
      @LukesGarageGym  6 месяцев назад +1

      Now, if you want 11 gauge steel and 2x3, Titan has some great options for a very affordable price. I have the vesta fitness rack that’s 3x3 11 gauge steel combo, and I think it’s going to last me a lifetime. With these 14 gauge steel racks, I don’t have enough information to know if it’ll be a lifetime investment, BUT, it’ll get you by for a decade atleast

    • @artisankyle
      @artisankyle 6 месяцев назад

      @@LukesGarageGym wow, thanks for the detailed response. So, with some of these lower tier brands the quality isn’t the same because of the 2x2 steel. Are there any racks that exist that allow you to do cable crossover that use 2x3 steel or better? I’m seeing one from versa that would be amazing but it’s over 2k, double what I was think of spending. I currently have a powertec levergym workbench, and am looking to expand the garage gym.

    Is there a reason the newer 100s went back to square and bigger on the height and width? I’m considering the 90s or 100s and can’t decide. Of course there is 10 more lbs, but I’d sacrifice that if the 90s are better overall.

    • @LukesGarageGym
      @LukesGarageGym  4 месяца назад

      I wonder if it’s bc of of trying to get to 100s they had to revert to the square? I had the 90s too. I personally like both. Definitely as you go heavier it takes a little getting used to with it being so bulky but in time you get used to it. It’s always nice to have 100s in case of maxing out on certain lifts etc

  • @Exercise-vt6je

    The Pro 100 Exp just seem like a marketing gimmick. The Pro 90s were fine. If they wanted to start a new series, should have made a more major change. It's not like they couldn't have made a set go to 120, as their commercial ones already do. Now anyone with an older set has to worry about expansions and accessories going out of stock. Fantastic.
