      OK so there is ACTUALLY TWO (2) Fill plugs that I see people using! One is under the Air Box (after removal) and this plastic plug is actually the "VENT" for the transmission CORRECT? The factory "FILL HOLE" is towards the rear and a metal 24MM plug like the 24MM metal drain plug -- CORRECT? Does the Manufacturer (or dealer) use the VENT PLUG or the METAL FILL PLUG Location to add fluid? That is my question!

    • @cindysue5474
      @cindysue5474 Месяц назад

      @@retiredperson4054 The 24MM is the drain for the gear oil. The upper plug is where you fill it. Dont have to worry about a vent because the hose that you use for filling does not seat there real tight or srews in in any way.My self was wondering about the other fluid called control oil that goes through the pump. Got ahold of Genracer store they said you never change that.

    Why couldn’t they just put a dipstick? This so called “sealed” transmission makes it more likely to either put to much or not enough fluid.

    • @HowIFixedIt

    Great video, I own the Hyundai Elantra 2013. When I do my transmission fluid changes I fill from the top. It’s slow as hell and takes about 30min to fill but it works. Watching you fill it from the bottom there is interesting. I open that only to show me if it’s fill or not. Then close and fill as needed. Is it faster to fill that way ?

    • @HowIFixedIt

    When i refill the transmission oil and the level plug is removed while engine running. Isn’t it going to spill out oil while engine is running?

    • @HowIFixedIt
      @HowIFixedIt  3 года назад +2

      Once full. It will. This is the full level. Engine running. Transmission dipstick/level plug removed. Fill until fluid drip out consistently. Then install level plug.

    • @HowIFixedIt
      @HowIFixedIt  3 года назад +6

      @@donpepot7289 I recommend filling it through the the level plug hole. Not the top. Fill first with engine off then start vehicle. Top of remaining transmission fluid. Pumps are available at harbor freight. Cheap.

      I flushed out 12 quarts during drain and fill procedure. I used manufacturers recommended transmission fluid. Part store will know exactly what you need. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback 👍

    What type of fluid pump did you use to add fluid? The ones that attach to a bottle seem very inefficient since they only transfer about 10 mL of fluid per pump motion. Also, could you just run the other end of the hose above the tranny, attach it to a funnel, and pour the fluid into it?

    • @HowIFixedIt

      Vacuum and dispenser pump at any harbor freight. Very useful. Much faster.

      I actually drained and refilled my fluid last fall. I added fluid through the fill plug located on top of the tranny using a funnel. The opening is very small so you have to place the funnel at about a 45 degree angle and pour the fluid very slowly in order to maintain an air pocket.

      The vehicle I worked on took a Dexron VI type. Full synthetic. Any part store employee can help you with fluid application.
