Bought mine in 1990? On an indian reservation outside of Tucson. Knew nothing bout them. Liked the price. $79.99. No sales tax. Paid 80 got a penny back. They had a dozen. Helped me pick out a good shaped one. Still shoot it, love it.
Always great to see some M/96 action! Loved the speed test at the end as well, looked like a lot of fun. I inherited one myself when my father passed which he in turn had inherited from my grandfather. Made in 1911 with all numbers matching and apart from one small dent in the butt stock it is in absolutely pristine condition! Safe to say it's a family heirloom at this point! Have yet to take her to the range though, my old man took care of her so well that I'm almost afraid to shoot it. 🥲 Thanks for a great video and an awesome intro!
Bought one of these when I was 18 for $109 out the door. Amazing. I traded it along the way and regret it however, I’ve since got my hands on a CG63. Great rifles
I bought an M96 Mauser made in 1907 from a coworker just last week. Having owned a BYF41 K98K before, I thought I knew my way around a Mauser rifle. Not so- This Swede is heads and shoulders above my old K98K! You weren't kidding when you say that they serialize everything- even the upper handguard is numbered! Strangely the only (2) non matching parts on my rifle are also the cleaning rod and the floor plate of the magazine. Hmmm... Thanks for the video!
I love the Swedish Mauser, I'm lucky enough to have 3 rifles. 2, M96 rifles and an M94 carbine. The M94 is my favorite rifle I own. Military bolt actions are my preferred rifle. Thanks for the video.
I have a 1915 M38/96 all matching even the firing pin. The early M38’s are factory cut down M96’s and much easier to transport and shoot. You should try Lapua Scenar ammo. Much better than the S&B. I was able to hit 2MOA at 300 yds. Awesome rifle
Good review. I bought one in 1988, or so and hunted coyotes with it. Scoped, with a 4X, I had no problem taking out fox and coyote, at 500 yards. Still have the rifle and used to reload it.
Use the palm of your hand when maneuver the bolt palm up to open palm against the face bolt back palm against the mussel bolt forward palm down to close and in close combat you pull the trigger with the same movement.. I was a home gard youth times before it was banned as kid soldiers :) With the right movement you can shave of at least ten seconds of that 37... .. You don't shift it like one Toyota you shift it like one 1960´s manual car "Volvo"
Sorry to disagree but the correct way to operate a bolt action rifle is to crook the thumb over the bolt handle. Why? Because a faulty discharge using the palm would result in the bolt handle half way up the inside of your wrist.
Nice to see some love for the swede , I have one of the m38 Swedish mausers , beauty of a rifle and a great cartridge. Killed two nice size deer with it last year no problems at all.
Just got my first SM this week, can’t wait to shoot it. M38 in great shape, someone mounted a Russian PU scope to it…that is interesting as well. I’d like to get a Carl Gustaf M96/38 also.
Back in the late 80’s early 90’s living in Germany this was no e of the popular rifles for military matches in the shooting clubs, at 100 meters and Norma match ammunition 10 rounds fired in 18 minutes the average group would be between the size of a quarter to half dollar piece.
Holy schitt... there was a guy picking up brass or something - WAY ahead of the firing line to your left in one firing sequence. I love my Swede - mine is a 1907 Carl Gustaf M38 that came with front sight protector in place and a steel muzzle cap as the muzzle is threaded for the wood bullet firing adapter.
Swedish Army training with the M96 specified not only the hat was to be worn backwards, as the shooter has correctly demonstrated in the video, but the shoes were to be worn on the wrong feet.
Great video. I purchaded one of these made in 1903 Carl Gustav swedish mauser. Couple of questions… mine has beech stock, is this correct? And also disk indicates a 1, is any good? Best regards.
Not sure on the stock, but the disc doesn’t mean much anymore. It’s telling you the condition of the bore the last time it was inspected by a Swedish armorer. 1 means it was in good condition, but that inspection was decades ago.
So. Is there any physical difference made to the rifle in order to fire the Spitzer rounds? I found a Swedish Mauser for sale and I want it. But the disk is missing.
As a Swede, I enjoyed that intro alot 😄👍
När han öppnade fallet precis på ordet "sköna"... perfekt

1996 Barney’s guns Florida $109 out the door👍

I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. The M/96 is such a beautiful rifle

Absolutely beautuful rifles. My m/96 is by far my favorite rifle.

A very nice rifle , it is one that I don’t have in my milsurp collection yet
Hope you find one. It’s a joy to shoot
I picked up a Swedish Mauser 96 for 59.99 in 1985 like new a 1909 Brazilian Mauser unissued for 150 also in 1985. Great rifles.
Thanks for sharing. This looks like my Carl Gustav M96 Swedish Mauser.

I have one of these and they are fantastic rifles.
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Great informative video and they are great rifles.
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it

An M38 is on my short list of future rifles. Glad to see the Swedes are so popular

Sounds like an interesting rifle. Did they mount the scope tastefully or did bubba get to it?
You don't have to sell me on this rifle that works great one of the best battle rifles ever produced accurate

This rifle is by far more accurate than me right now

Very nice Mauser
Thanks man

Another rifle that fires the same cartridge is the Norwegian Krag M1894. Would be interesting to see!
That might end up being a grail gun for me. I hope it’s in the cards though
Ack, Värmland du schöna......fantastisk
You don’t have to remove the clip, the closing bolt will strip it out.
I've got a gustavs from 1910 as well.!
Eines der präzisesten gewehre!!
There were a total of 19 serial numbered parts on these rifles. Not all visible until the action was taken out of the stock.

No same rifle just a different ballistic properties.
What do you think about the Mauser 1909 Argentine vs the Swedish? Thanks.
Totally different languages… impossible to compare.
Really enjoyed the video. That range looks very broad though. Maybe at the top of a mountain. Am I right?
Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah it’s on top of a mountain, beautiful place to go and get away from the world for a few hours
I think .308 have passed 6,5x55 as Swedens most popular hunting caliber. But that caliber, and this rifle have a lot of moose on its conscience.
No it has not, not even close....
I’ve never seen anyone firing an M96 that used the sling for anything but a sail.
42. the universal numeric answer to any mathematical problem is 42. :)
Actually towards the end of the video you attended operate bolt correctly
Shoots 1 inch at 100 yards. Custom loads
Not bad for an 100 year old rifle
Str us about kaliber .Haninge it still or something
Just when u give a Compliment you never grab the bold handle by the knob ever always use palm
@@DannySmith-pv6xw try watching gun blue 490. And almost any sniper will tell u this
They are little bit long and heavy
That helps to mitigate the already low recoil
🇦🇺😎👍🍻🏁6.5x55🏁
Another guy that does not how to operate a bolt rifle.
Thanks for taking the time to comment
@@fanoffirearms you seem like a rely nice guy i have 2?of these rifled. I paid 89.00 usa
@@Peter-od7op that’s awesome man, that’s a steal at that price
I have both the M94 and the M96 they are great shooters but you need to shoot the Swiss K31.
