I am a gay man who grew up in the black church and I can relate to many of the stories shown here. Though my family is deeply rooted in Christianity, I decided that I needed to leave for my own health and well being as a homosexual. I've decided that if I'm going to visit a church that it would be one that fully embraces me as a gay man because for me to continue any longer in a church that basically gonna push me to a younger death is not what I need anymore. There's far more to my coming out story on my blog, but I know I'm heading in a good direction when it comes to my faith and sexuality. I am very thankful that BET took the time to put this together for people like me and the entire LGBTQ people of color.

I'm a heterosexual male and I struggle with my urges to want to talk to women that I find attractive or not want to look upon their bodies, because it's attractive to me. How is this any different from someone who is gay? Not advocating, just putting perspective on those that call themselves Christians and not look at their own life to see what sins they struggle or participate in on a daily basis, with an unrepentant heart.
Transparency, I've lived an adulterous life for years. I still struggle with it, because I allowed myself to love another woman that I struggle with.

No, it's not, and I'm willing to bet that many who critically judge homosexuality, without examining the way they live are likely very delusional about what it means to be a follower of Christ and not just calling themselves Christian, because they go to church or read the Bible. My other sentiment is that the church should be open to All people to receive the gospel, regardless of their current state in life. Not turning people away, because they are living a life contrary to how God wants us to live, that is the purpose of church. That's all of us at any point in time of our lives.
However, understanding this, churches should also give the full truth of the gospel, regardless of how it may offend someone or make them feel. If someone doesn't want to hear the biblical truth, why attend church?
To your point of violence against transpeople, I do agree that no one should kill someone for their choice of how they want to identify. Additionally, yes, heterosexual couples have been killed for who they choose to love. Interracial couples had to endure harassment, assault and even death, because they chose to love one another. This isn't unique to the Lgbtq community.
