Its flybywire's study level A320x, not original MSFS2020 A320. thats why its accurate

lol my pc can barely manage cities skylines base, let alone with a lot of mod and props, i know i need a pc upgrade but still the game is pretty good already
they COULD do that but I dont think anyone has a powerful enough GPU to handle that. I mean a rtx 3090 would probably run 10 fps and compare that to every GPU worse than that. It would be unplayable.

I work in aerospace where we work on the fixtures of making the turbine blades inside the engine. It really is a modern day miracle that allows pieces of metal bolted together to fly across the world 24/7 reliably. Anywhere in the world will take no more than 24 hours. What a time to be alive
It is really incredible. I’d like to work your job too in aerospace. Nowadays we think a 3 hour plane ride is so long. Today is paradise to early explorers like Magellan.

DCS is the same. I'm no fighter pilot but press stuff until it works
It's a simulator, it's not supposed to easy
You also need NASA's Pleiades super computer to run the game well (if you want it to look pretty).

Don't really need to be a real pilot to know what to do. - I simply just watch youtube videos such as Drawyay videos. I spent hours watching his videos and taking notes and going in MSFS2020 and keep practicing. - Do Small journeys like London to Paris or London to Manchester. - Keep practicing
I have renewed respect for pilots. That cockpit looks like a nightmare!
Also the avionics/maintenance techs who have to repair/maintain everything in there you see.

I love the idea that old, retired pilots have today the opportunity to have an immersive flying experience virtually. combine that with VR and a vibrating motion seat and you couldn't tell the difference

the fact I stared at this video for an hour and seven minutes is actually ridiculous
i was a load planner at one point for a few years and hearing that checklist really brings back memories
with the disappearing and reappearing the objects like that tug car, here comes the sweet old memories of FSX and DX10!
It's strange to me how these sims but so much detail in to some really complex elements, but miss simple elements which would make them way more immersive:
Classic example is the ATC chatter. The graphics are almost photorealistic, but the ATC is stilted and poorly acted. (e.g. there are no "umms" or "ahhs" and there's a limited range of voices.) Imagine how cool it would be if coming into CDG you had an ATC with a French accent come on, and a if there was a bit of variation and bit of incidental chatter from them., or if occassionally they made the odd stumble in their speech and corrected themselves?
Yes, it would take some time to do, but conceptually, it would actually be far less complex than doing the amazing graphics, and would massively increase the immersive effect. So many games miss this trick these days - amazing graphics, but let down by poor sound design.
Absolutely you’re right, But come on man look at how far the game has come fs2020 is just insanely good all around, I’m sure now they’ve figured out how to map the entire planet those more in depth details will come as an update or likely in the next game. My appreciate for this game is on another level, Even to the point I can put my headphones in and autopilot on & the sounds put me to sleep
Completely agree with you, Stu. Again, I have to commend the absolute wizardry they've accomplished with the graphics, but one thing that always stands out to me in games like MFS or DCS is the slightly unnatural way that things like control surfaces move (I guess the word for this would be kinematics although I'm not sure if that's the industry-recognised term for it in video games design). That stands out to me the same way that poor sound design stands out to you, though I do appreciate your point as well. The main culprit is the infinite acceleration - a moving aileron/elevator will just suddenly stop dead still from one frame to the next (or vice versa getting moving) and while I know that aircraft generally have very high pressure hydraulic systems, the very fact that that kind of movement looks unnatural is kind of proof that the transients are perceptible to the human eye, however fleeting they are. There are other things like perfectly uniform motion, without lurches and lumps that occur in real movement, and perfect synchronisation between two things moving together (I guess I'm thinking of landing gear here) that just doesn't occur on real aircraft. Like you said, given what they've achieved with the graphics, it's kind of strange that stuff like this that is much simpler to implement has been overlooked, but on the flipside, they're very achievable quick wins for future games.

This may be an unpopular opinion but playing this game as a novice with no idea on how to fly a plane is probably the most fun. I kid you not, I pushed random buttons and got a 747 up in the air from heathrow to LFPG and apart from a few snags and a somewhat uncontrollable steep nose dive in the middle of the journey, I somehow landed it perfectly! Really fun ngl!
Not sure what is a perfect landing for you but if you are telling me the landing was smooth as butter, then I salute the ride

How do you know when to descend in these scenarios? I have somewhat of an idea on how to setup the flight itself but always have trouble landing the aircraft. Any tutorials/ideas would be helpful.
So let’s say your cursing at 26000 feet you would want to start your descent at around 60-70NM, you want to use vertical speed and set it around 1800-2800 depending on how high you are I will link you a video

just look at the flight plan in the fmc and it should tell you what altitude you should be at, at each waypoint if you do an ifr flight
