  • This amazing 1998 Dodge Neon R/T is quite possibly one of the most famous Dodge Neons due to it running 200.9 mph in the Texas Mile. Malcolm Ward swapped a Neon SRT-4 engine and trans into this 98 Neon and built it up to a staggering 690 hp at the wheels, or nearly 780 hp at the engine considering a 12-15% drivetrain loss. In this video you'll not only see this sweet Neon but you'll see the original window sticker and at the end of the video, the dyno chart of this Neon! (EDIT- Its not a Precision 6262, its an AGP 6262 turbo.)

    I've been to 140 in a modded neon like this and it was spooky, I can't imagine 200+

      Aluminum can with bb’s rattling lol this one does look proper though. I had a 96 base model in 1999, motor had been gone thru and I used to love spanking Civics. 200 mph in that thing though lol

    I believe it... They were unreliable but made power like crazy

      SRT4's are very reliable, as long as you maintain them. The only weak spot for the Neon SRT-4 was the transmission, but as long as you made less than 350hp and didnt slam through the gears its going to last.

    I love this build! Any underbody aero mods? I spy a bit of a rear diffuser.

    • @modernceo

      We did not show it that well in this video, but yes, Malcolm has a rear diffuser under the rear bumper, a front lip, the side mirrors are deleted (if you pause the video, you'll see that the side mirrors were replaced by two small cameras that display inside the car!) Also, notice in the underhood section of the video, there are plenty of foam pieces along the core support, and on the leading edge of the fenders to block air from going into the engine bay through the hood/fender gap. Malcolm has put a lot of effort into reducing drag on this car, something that is very important when you are going above 160/170/180/190, even 200mph!!

    What passenger side top mount is that?

    So, if i may ask, do people get their 5 speeds rebuilt to handle more power with these?
    And if so, where do they go to get it done at? Because ive always been weary of the 5 speeds breaking which prevented me from ever buying any neon in general, but if theres at least a place who can rebuild em, im willing to try it maybe because it would be a nixe alternative to buying a Honda for the millionth time.

      Malcolm Ward, the owner of the car did all the work himself! If you search for Texas Mile, Dodge Neon you'll probably see a bunch of other mentions and videos. We're hoping we can do another video soon of his car.

    What intercooler did you use?

      @modernceo  5 месяцев назад

      Good question, I dont have the specs on it, but would imagine it to be a universal type intercooler.

      I'm honest, I'm very interested in knowing what intercooler you are using. Do you think you can help me with the information to purchase one? For your attention, thank you.
