I stood in line in San Francisco for hours waiting to see Exorcist Two. I think everyone in the audience was wondering, what the fk are we watching. We all left the theater truly angry at how bad it was. I agree with you about Dominion. I would love to see what Schrader would have done had he received a proper budget and support.
In Exorcist 2, I liked the idea that great evil is attracted to great goodness and tries to destroy it, but the film didn't do a whole lot with that concept. Thanks.
I forgot to mention "The Ninth Configuration." William Peter Blatty said he considers it to be the actual sequel to "The Exorcist." Remember the astronaut at the party when Regan said, "You're gonna die up there" then pees on the carpet? (That didn't really make sense in the film because we weren't given the information that the man is an astronaut.) Anyway, that man is the main character in "The Ninth Configuration" but played by a different actor. And William Peter Blatty, also wrote and directed it. Worth a look bur not a great film.
I have only seen the Og, 3 and Believer. A channel I like is covering the kill count and background of the first 3, so I'm rewatching those currently. I just watched the first last week, which still is fantastic imo. I have heard how bad the second one is, I'll be watching this week, man I agree so much with what you say about Believer, they took the teeth out of the amazing original, they made it for everyone instead of horror fans imo. I also agree about how you ranked it with saying which would you want to watch just a quick pick, I'd pick 3 as well.
Did it bother you in Exorcist 3 that Lt. Kinderman was played by George C. Scott instead of Lee J. Cobb, who played Kinderman in the original Exorcist film? It always kind of bugs me, but Lee J. Cobb had died by the time Exorcist 3 was made.

👍🏼
I’m not a big fan of The Exorcist films, but the original is quite good, and 3 has the best jump scare imo

Nah, it didn't really bother me. I think mainly cuz George C. Scott did such a good job.
