Well, crap. I'm in the process of single-handedly writing and illustrating my own visual novel and realized by watching this that this anime's setting appears VERY similar to what I had in mind. A group of space fighters operating from a mobile base of operations battle an organic-looking enemy force that threatens to extinguish the human race (I haven't seen the anime but that's the vibe I'm getting from this video).

Always felt that the music for the anime was awesome and wish that the rest of it could have been as good. Nagate really should have caught on to the fact that she is a real cow considering all the times she has pushed Izana out of the way and how she moved in without any warning at all. Even an idiot should be able to see that. Plus, the relationship with Hoshijiro-Ena is just creepy. Curiosity is OK, but any remotely normal person would have been a bit more repulsed after it tried to kill their comrades and imitated a friend. Also, would it be harmful to have a male character be close friends with Nagate? He should really learn how to interact with his own gender and learn to be a normal guy. other than the photos during the time skip there is no sense that he actually socialises with guys. He might actually develop character traits other than the stereotypical great pilot, social ineptitude, kind to the point of lunacy and self sacrificial traits. I only finished the two seasons because i wanted to know more about his backstory, and because Izana was the only character other than the Captain and Mechanic who I felt was halfway realistic and the only protagonist I felt any attachment to.
70% serious sci-fi/horror + 30% comedy/romance relief would've been perfect. Sadly it ended up as 50%-50% so woe is me. Same could be said about the 2015 Fate/Stay Night.
Oh shit, never noticed that. Well, not really ripoffs since they have their own concepts and stuff. But some "mechanics" in the anime really bring out BSG in some statements. XD
I just realized that Knights of Sidonia is basically Attack on Titan in space, plus mechas. Also, this is going to sound so shallow, but I couldn't keep watching when they got rid of this song.
That was exactly what I thought: Mankind faces the danger of annihilation, Check. After 100 years, people remembered the terror of being ruled by..., Check. Enemies are relentless and require a ridiculously dangerous precision attack to kill, Check. A group of badass senpai came to our rescue, only to be wiped out in a brief moment, Check. P.S. most of the above was turned around in season 2 P.P.S In Attack on Titan, you have 15m tall guy & normal height girl, while in Knights of Sidonia, you have a normal height guy with a 15m tall girl.
I will always find it hilarious that in season 2 episode 8, the movie that they're watching has better graphics than the show itself haha. It was quite amusing and disappointing at the same time haha.
Yea, it was a promotional thing for the upcoming movie Blame!, which is an adaption of the manga, made by the same person who also made Sidonia no Kishi. anilist.co/anime/21498/BLAMEMovie
I tried to watch this. I have no doubt I would like this anime but I had to stop because the style is choppy and gives me a headache. Even when there is a calm scene where people are walking down a side walk, the images are not smooth, they are choppy and the camera changes scenes every 1-3 seconds. Explosions and fight scenes I couldn't even tell who was shooting or what was exploding. They style is no good. Just like why I couldn't watch "Bourne Identity" movies.

No season 3 == HERESY
A movie got announced for next year

攻めるの終わった もういいよ
I love this anime. Only downside is the harem-bullshit and the fanservice. It really doesn't need this.
70% serious sci-fi/horror + 30% comedy/romance relief would've been perfect. Sadly it ended up as 50%-50% so woe is me. Same could be said about the 2015 Fate/Stay Night.
+gamenerd1990 It didn't ruin it. I'm just saying I could gladly do without it. Would make it more mature in my opinion
OH MY GOD, I JUST REALIZED THIS A BATTLESTAR GALACTICA AND EVANGELION RIPOFF. Nothing wrong with that but still.
they're similar indeed
Oh shit, never noticed that. Well, not really ripoffs since they have their own concepts and stuff. But some "mechanics" in the anime really bring out BSG in some statements. XD
A chicken burger!
What if... someone replaced an anime OP with this one, like kancolle?
Don't waste your time or time will waste you.
Is subtitle Spanish or French?lol
+亚述的荣耀真 | 100% French :D
+亚述的荣耀真 french
I just realized that Knights of Sidonia is basically Attack on Titan in space, plus mechas. Also, this is going to sound so shallow, but I couldn't keep watching when they got rid of this song.
in the last episode of season 2 they play the song at the end
Except Sidonia no Kishi isn't shit
I have to say at least Sidonia went somewhere. Had a purpose and a direction. Attack on Titan just seems to wander aimlessly.
That was exactly what I thought:
Mankind faces the danger of annihilation, Check.
After 100 years, people remembered the terror of being ruled by..., Check.
Enemies are relentless and require a ridiculously dangerous precision attack to kill, Check.
A group of badass senpai came to our rescue, only to be wiped out in a brief moment, Check.
P.S. most of the above was turned around in season 2
P.P.S In Attack on Titan, you have 15m tall guy & normal height girl, while in Knights of Sidonia, you have a normal height guy with a 15m tall girl.
The acronyms of both shows' Jap titles in Romaji are even SnK. *mindblown*
I will always find it hilarious that in season 2 episode 8, the movie that they're watching has better graphics than the show itself haha. It was quite amusing and disappointing at the same time haha.
Well, given how it was a promotional thing for a new upcoming actual movie... They kinda had to make it look good. :p
Rew
Wait, that was an actual movie? haha
Yea, it was a promotional thing for the upcoming movie Blame!, which is an adaption of the manga, made by the same person who also made Sidonia no Kishi.

Nice.
Tsutomu Nihei wrote and illustrated both Knights of Sidonia and Blame!
I thought it was Muse
結局このアニメは何と戦っているのか、分からなかった。
基本はガウナと戦っているけど、己自身とも戦う。
Песня какая-то лажавая.((
Gauna=dead
why singer sounds like he has stuffy nose?
its part of the art. have you heard origa?
Yeah she sounds like a deaf person trying to sing. It's still awesome, though.
