- Flexiride the ultimate in Rubber Torsion axles. An innovation in trailer suspension for a smooth, safe and practically shock-free ride. The Flexiride rubber torsion axle is the most state-of-the-art concept in trailer suspension technology on the market today.
This system was used on Australian Dusting sidecars pre WW2 , and gave a very smooth ride for all the reasons you mention .
As an Engineer, I'd like to know more how they Canadian Axle - bond/cast the rubber to the metal shaft to avoid internal sheer or failure? Their website notes only a "proprietary" method 🙄 Well Duhh... might buy one and dismantle it 👍
Very cool product, and solid construction. Wish I'd known about this when I had a boat.
suspension units like these are commonly used on small trailers in the UK. The wheels that were commonly used on suspensions like these were classic mini steel wheels
I love torsion axle so much
This is fantastic. We will look at these closely for making our Bear River Rocket Stoves into very mobile units. Thanks.
where may i get some parts to build my own, or fix what I have.
❤ nice video thanks again 💯 right nice
How to order that??
can these rubber torsion axles be used in Airstreams? .....specifically a 1970 Overlander?
Can one get disc brakes with these scales?
The Universal Group, LLC manufactures and markets the Flexiride® rubber torsion axle, the most state of the art concept in axle technology for light duty trailers
Yep, they are a great setup. Im wanting a 350kg Trailer Torsion Bar Single Axle Setup.
Where can I buy a set?
Where can we buy one of this????
I have a 15' fiberglass boat with a tunnel hull. Which torsion half axle will I need for my trailer?
Maybe a list of trailer manufacturers would be helpful to consumers like myself.... HELLO!!!
Dónde puedo conseguir un eje asi
Does the base plate have to be welded or is there another way to do it. The reason I ask it's cause my trailer is aluminum.
it is probably best to weld onto frame. I think the steel base plate is 3/16 in so for aluminum I would us 5/16 or 3/8 plate. Or maybe bolting a piece of 3/8 aluminum angle to each side of the crossmember you are mounting to.
Is this company and product alive and well? seems people are intereted - or have been - but no update? Seems promising. Like the simplicty
Dónde compro esos ejes
Greetings, do you have one that swivel? Need front trailer wheels to rotate.
can these be used for off road trailers?
I envision a passenger vehicle design that this would work nicely on. I wonder what it would take to get DOT approval for passenger vehicles.
Vehicles have had torsion axles for a long time, the VW Beetle had torsion axles. It's an old style suspension, the late 90s Ford Explorers among others had torsion bar suspension.
At minimum it would get those horrible strut towers out of the cargo or vehicle interior space! I think they don't have as much travel though, and you'd still need shocks, but those are compact enough to not need a huge bulge in the body.
wanting to put these half axles on a 5x10 open trailer with 3500lb axles, whats the life span on the rubber inside, warranty?
3-5 years lifespan, warranty 24 months.
Torson axle have been under my airstream 1972 and need replacing about every 20yrs. If you jack the weight off your trailer when not in use will last longer. And coust $650 shipped to my door (3500lbs)
Where can I buy 7k lb full axles
Where did i found only that black tube rubber torsion axle only that .
please i needful help
What you guys need axles loading capacity
Ахуенная идейка !!!
На наши ВАЗов кие тази надняч подвеска отлично подойдёт !!!💪👍
We are looking for a manufacturer to supply this type of suspension with electric brake hubs for 425lb- 770lb load rates - can you help with this
Hi
I have old torsion axle but its too much hard how can make it more flexible?
Have to replace it, torsion axles are available from most trailer suppliers
There is a process and procedure but not dyi friendly and require exact temperature treatments and hydronic equipment and no guarantee of success. It is only $650 for replacement 3500lbs axel shipped to your door
Chinese firewood processors are getting an upgraded suspension ( from nosuspention !)
Actually... This technology has been around for years.. VW used to use it in thier old bugs.
You would be mistaken VW used s torsion bar spring
@@alexszilagyi1267 It's the exact same principle and suspension type. There are leaf springs, coil springs, air ride, magnetic, hydraulic, and torsion.

Good day. Want to buy. How to do it?

Dexter Torflex ?
The operating principle is similar, but while Dexter stuff four rubber rods into the corners of a square tube around a square bar, Flexiride fills the space with rubber. Dexter welds the suspension arm to the square bar, but the Flexiride arm is splined onto the bar in higher-capacity models. The Flexiride design is better, but more expensive.
@@brianb-p6586 Are you sure they're much more expensive? I priced out 2k axles for both brands and they come pretty close to one another. Brakes can also be added to the Flexiride for much cheaper than the Dexter.
Seems very similar to what Rosta has been doing for years.
Built in camber? But wouldn’t I want the axle to be level and 0 camber for even wearing and long life of the tires?
Parker R think about what happens when you put a load in the trailer and you have zero camber, you now have camber and your tires will wear unevenly.
Most trailers achieve camber by having a slightly bent axel that will flex down when weight is installed. How do the short Flexiride achieve camber ?
@@glennmcginnis8761 The video shows a square tube being deliberately slightly bent to create that camber; the Flexiride units are attached to each end of that tube.
muy buenos necesito 2 juegos de estos para un trailers de 2 eje ..alguien me puede ayudar a conseguirlos?

Hola
These axles are built by one old man and when he passes so does all the knowledge of how to build them.
Nothing new, they were widely used in the 1950's & 1960's

Uggh, the welder needs to improve his skills.
Ya those welds were pretty bad, lol
Absolutely worthless axle since they give you zero info as to where they can be sourced from
Bad suspension system, coil springs are so much better!
Then why are so many manufacturers not using them anymore
@@ronaldharris6569 the reason is only the price, coil springs are more expensive. If you have a trailer with independent suspension, you will see no jumping trailer within 160 km/h, allowed is maximum speed of 130km/h in France, 100km/h in the EU.
@@User-vl9gp Not true, coil springs are bad for trailers because they take up too much cargo room with coil buckets. You either have to raise deck height, which is bad, or cut into the deck area, which is also bad.
@@snarkylive is that the reason, why expensive Trailers have Coil springs and the cheap trailers have torsion springs?
Right airstream uses torsion axels and trust me built better than the products rolling out from any other manufacturers having ridden inside both kinds hands down better ride. There is plenty of videos proving this fact
Can't believe how many metal working videos I watch where the worker doesn't use eye protection.
Superb.
Love you.
