@crapper1 They are very similar to standard shipping containers in size, but have better sealing in the doors. They are also built slightly heavier duty with abrasion resistant steel floors vs. wood floors in standard containers. Thanks for the question?

That compactor is a good idea. I would like to see you shred wooden pallets with your shredder.

This helps explain why there's a rail from the landfill to the recycling plant near where I live...

@Sammonoske those facilities have air pollution equipment on them so most of the air is clean. but nothing is perfect so still some emissions in the air

Don't they strap those containers down to the train? what keeps them from falling off?

I so thought this was going to be a video of the SSI shredding rail tracks.
    Pretty good video though.

you can also shred it and separate the trash from recycles to metals and plastics, that would save millions of square ft in landfills

@EnvyChase Its called a lashup. You usually need more then one unit to move a heavy freight train.

  • @lahluv

@Sammonoske no they have air pollution control equipment on the waste to energy plants sp about 99.9 percent of air is clean.

@Nightbird2k6 no once the waste hits the floor at the transfer station it cant be touched

That looks like the waste goes from the garbage bin directly to the landfill...
Don't you sort the waste to recycle ressources like glass, metal or paper ?

Most waste when burned creates toxic fumes, therefore harming the environment in the end.
