Why have a transfer station right next to a landfill? Isn’t the point of a transfer station to serve an area where it isn’t more feasible to haul directly to a landfill?

Kacey Smith transfer station is for sorting and removing banned and recycling from materials that will go into a landfill.

It's so the public can dump in a safe organized area. They're going near any big open pit and they can avoid the landfill itself where there's a bunch of large equipment and truck traffic.

Waste segregation mate. Not all of what goes there ends up in landfill.
I drive walking floor trailers in the UK and a lot of places I tip at reload me for another destination.
I'll take unsegregated waste to a place and then take segregated waste, or maybe refined waste to another destination.
A lot of unrecyclable waste is used as fuel for power stations in the UK now. Incineration and carbon filters.

How do I become a owner operator driver in this industry?

Thank for the comment. KEITH actually makes the unloading system in the trailers and is not affiliated directly with contracting waste haulers for municipalities. Our advice would be to contact the municipal solid waste agency in your area to find out more about how they are hauling MSW. Best of luck!

3:51 - all this garbage looks like perfect fuel for a waste to energy plant.
