This loco is also undergoing an overhaul hopes are still high that this loco will return to steam after the overhaul is done but they’re not done yet
This is one of my favourite locomotives , best news ever when the Watercress purchased it !
same here, in fact 73096 is my favourite
Is an epic locomotive! Had the pleasure of her pulling me and my grandfather to gloucester! Nothing like a 2 clyinder with 9 on 🤤
Locos Of The Line: 73096 BR Standard Class 5MT Mid Hants Railway 'The Watercr love louis shirley
Liked the southern region ones many painted Brunswick Green and named . As a train spotter I managed to cop all the named locomotives..
A video on Daylight Tours would be interesting 🙂
I love the LMS Black Fives. Great locos. Better than diesels imho.
Good narrative all the way through. Might have been worth noting that it’s been upgraded to modern standards a bit, such as using twin pipe air brakes in addition to vacuum, to permit operation ‘outside the fence’ as it were. The audible output of the steam operated kit used for that is quite distinctive to some.
Incidentally, I’ve visited the works at Ropley, and it’s quite impressive.
Nicely researched video with some great archive footage.
fantastic loco
interesting fact about 73096, her tender chassis comes from a jubilee and therefore 18in shorter than a regular BR1G type
From an LMS Jubilee? It’s doesn’t look like a Stanier 4,000 gallon tender...
@@whistlingspy thats because the body is similar to that of a BR1G, its the frame underneath the tender body that comes from an LMS tender
@@whistlingspy If you actually read the comment, it clearly says the chassis..................
Witch jubilee is the tender chassis from

Would it be possible to get the original picture of the engine at the 6 minute mark?
