THE LIST
The Matrix (1999)
Fight Coordinator: Yuen Woo-Ping
This movie was jam-packed with awesome fight scenes, but the Agent Smith vs Neo fight in the subway is a the ultimate combination between special effects and hand-to-hand combat.
Raging Bull (1980)
Director Martin Scorsese made the bold and unusual choice to put the camera inside the ring in the final fight with Sugar Ray Robinson, showing the fight from a boxer’s POV.
Ong Bak (2003)
Choreographer: Prachya Pinkaew
The movie that introduced the world to Tony Jaa, and fight choreographer Prachya Pinkaew, this is a full-throttle, no-holds-barred fight - no wires, no effects, just Muay Thai.
The Bourne Ultimatum
Fight Stunt Coordinator: Jeff Imada
This movie makes the bold choice of shooting a fight scene without music, letting the sense of urgency and action come completely from the fighters (and the props they throw at each other, hit each other with, and crash through, of course).
Hero (2002)
Fight Choreographer: Chium Siu-Tung
The Grey Fight between Jet Li and Donnie Yen is one of the most perfect weapons fights ever filmed, elevated by the fact that it takes place entirely within the two characters’ minds… until the end.
Kill Bill Vol. 1
Fight Coordinator: Yuen Woo-Ping
A nod and send-up of 70s Kung Fu flicks, the Bride takes on an astounding number of bad guys, resulting in gushes and gushes of blood, and a plucked-out eye.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)
Fight Coordinator: Yuen Woo-Ping
Director: Ang Lee
There’s some beautiful wire work in Crouching Tiger, but for sheer precision and skill on display, we love the training-hall face-off between Michelle Yeoh and Ziyi Zhang
Killzone SPL (2005)
Choreographers: Donnie Yen and Wu Jing
Yen is a martial arts legend, and his fights could comprise a list in and of itself, but this largely improvised fight has to be one of the most impressive achievements.
Legend of the Drunken Master (1994)
Choreography: Jackie Chan
A true classic of Jackie Chan’s work, the final factory fight couldn’t be a more pure expression of Jackie Chan’s style.
Enter The Dragon (1973)
Choreographer: Bruce Lee
We couldn’t go any other way with the #1 on this list. Without Bruce Lee’s incredible skills, and this iconic fight, movie fights wouldn’t be what they are today.
Our friends over at IndieWire put together some seriously inspired MOVIE LISTS: bit.ly/12x0UpF and CineFix is bringing 'em to life! - Кино
The hallway scene from Old Boy. One man. Dozens of opponents and one single shot done continuously.
yep. when I got to the top 3 I was like "alright Oldboy better be coming up sometime soon" and it never did. was so dissapointed
That scene was epic
The thing I love most about the Old Boy fight (besides the amazing one take, obviously!) is how REAL it feels, especially in comparison to other movie fights. It’s brutal, they get winded, the protagonist actually gets hit! Hell, he gets his ASS handed to him on multiple occasions! It’s just gnarly and beautifully choreographed and it’s absolutely an all-time great fight scene without a doubt.
You have a screwed up name.
The Ip Man vs 10 black belts scene is still on of my all-time favorite fight scenes period. It gives me chills every time I watch it.
Agreed. You knew when he saw his friend die and how pissed he was, somebody (somebodies?) was going to be getting a hurtin'.
Without the real ip man there may not have been a superstar Bruce Lee.
Agreed, my favourite fight scene of all time..brutal and felt so real...
Donnie Yen "Flash Point" so f-ing satisfying
@@eddypowell9736 hella brutal, right? And it was made all the more so given the contrast of how almost _unaggressive_ Yip Man was in his approach to fighting. He's like a pacifist assassin or something lol. He's a passassin... or maybe an assassifist 😂 Either way though, he brought his A-grade aggression to every one of those Karate Kunts in the dojo that day, huh? Badass. Shoulda been renamed the _dontjo_ lmao 😂😂 Fuck, I'm killin' me over here!
Damn that was a good scene though seriously..
A lot of people are discussing what fight scenes were left out and what fight scenes don't deserve to be on this list. But can we appreciate how well edited/narrated this list is? There's such smooth transitions between each entry on the list, with the music of one fight scene blending into that of another. And you actually get to hear the fight scene's original audio complete with its soundtrack and sound effects. Not to mention the extra bits of trivia you wouldn't normally hear about. Gotta love Cinefix's style of editing. Not to bash Watchmojo but they would've just abruptly ended each clip, added random stock music in the background and just described the fight scene rather than commenting on something more insightful about the artistic merits of the fight scene.
All my homies hate WatchMojo.
I also liked the Jailbreak from FIRST BLOOD. Anyone else?🖖
The Raid 2 Kitchen Fight Scene. The bloodiest fight scene of all time
Crazy how The Raid was only mentioned and not actually part of the list.
I've never seen anything quite like The Raid. It's impeccable.
@Stellvia Heonheim It still had super exaggerated stuff with the slow-motion and all that. Amazing movie for its time (a classic) but doesn't hold up to The Raid in terms of pure action and raw combat
The raid 1 and 2. Brutal fights. Unrealistic in terms of mow much punishment they can take and how long the fights were. But i still really enjoyed em, certainly a hell of alot better than alot of what was listed. For eg. Kill bill? Seriously?
@@terryhughes1649 Yeah, the endurance is wildly exaggerated, especially in the second one.
The first one was pretty good in terms of that, the protagonist was always struggling and hurting in between fights, it was pretty damn believable imo.
The "boss" fights are too much but they're boss fights after all I guess
The kitchen fight in The Raid 2 is my favourite fight scene of all time.
Raid 2 released after this video. But yeah, the kitchen scene in R2 is phenomenal and probably the best fight scene ever in terms of execution and choreography.
Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan are right where they belong on this list. Great job
Bruce Lee as a scene has no job being on this list. There's nothing in it except speed and his face and that one doesn't even change ffs. Strange since these dudes crucified John Wick, cause one could argue they share precisely the same approach on the one on ones (I don't think so. Wick 1 was refreshingly original and consistent to the character - they lost it with the third part I admit).
Forbidden kingdom temple fight
100%! I think uma thurman vs luscious nubian queen belongs on list-the matrix and "look I can fly' are so ridiculous I feel like I am watching cartoons-also, raging bull had NOTHING on Rocky I or II- I love all 3
@@alexispapageorgiou72 Don't ever put John Wick and Bruce Lee in the same sentence lol
You forgot Hwang Jang Lee ("The King of Kickers")!
This isn’t the slickest, flashiest fight scene ever, but for pure entertainment I love the sword fight between The Dread Pirate Roberts (Westley) and Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride.
It has action, humor, exposition, and the heartfelt touching moments of gentlemanly respect between them. It does a great job simultaneously parodying the swashbuckling sword fights of classic Hollywood and wonderfully typifying them.
Ipman vs 10 man
HOW ABOUT SPIDER-MAN 2 TRAIN FIGHT SCENE?, ATLEATS IN A HONOURABLE
Ip man vs 10 black belts is an epic fights scene.
Donnie in IP Man, every fight is beautiful
donnie is a true master of the art, as a martial artist and an actor,,
Yea, I was wondering why it wasn't on the list. His fight vs Sammo Hong was better in Ipman 2
It was the combo of Donnie and Jet that made that Hero fight so freaking awesome
Donnie Yen rolling up his sleeves in the IP Man movies is like actual Super Saiyan shit in real life
When he beats the shit out of 10 japanese though for some rice. Well for his friend..
If I saw Bruce Lee doing all that nunchuck stuff as he was about to kick my butt, I would ask him if it was okay if I could just lay down.
For sure!
Bruce could swing nunchucks around over 100mph I wouldn't like to be in his way.lol
+dorsal 2008 LMAO
+dorsal 2008 Bruce Lee actually went against 2 ping pong championship winners in a game, except he used a nunchuck instead of a paddle. He won 2v1.
+dorsal 2008 Bruce Lee actually went against 2 ping pong championship winners in a game, except he used a nunchuck instead of a paddle. He won 2v1.
I've probably watched that Crouching Tiger fight scene a dozen times. So good
I’ve literally screen recorded it for when I want to watch it again
Yes it was soooo goooooooood
Lee deserved an award for his choreography masterpiece in Enter the Dragon and set the standards for more realistic fight scenes to follow without the use of ropes and special effects.
@chubbyurma LOL
@chubbyurma Police Story being 'brutal'.
@@TheYorkMan have you not see any of the police stories? They're all have better fight scenes than this top ten list alone
@chubbyurma I guess The Warehouse fight in The Big Boss where Lee basically annihilates a group of people using improvised weapons and kills them all isn't 'brutal' enough?
Whilst I appreciate the time taken to craft an exciting, extended, running fight in the shopping mall at the end of Police Story... Brutality is not a word I'd use to describe the action.
I respect the fluidity, but it's more artistic and stylised than seeing a man fighting for his life against a group of aggressors.
Jake Thaiman Meant a U.S. award like an Oscar for choreography ect
The 2nd best fight scene I've ever seen, was the 2nd last fight in RAID 2. The best fight scene I've ever seen, was the last fight in RAID 2.
If you're talking about the kitchen scene, then I agree.
right
well video is 2 years old, sooooo
Yep I like that fight to it's so fast I don't know how they can remember all the moves
i love it 2 but that scene in raid 1 with mad dog was unbelievable
Why are the raid movies not on this list
I can’t believe you left out the final fight sequence from Kung Fu Hustle.
ALL the fight scenes. The 3 masters v Axe gang in pigsty alley. Iron fist & mystic staff v the musicians. Lion’s roar and Tai Chi v the Beast in casino. All legendary. Actually, Buddha’s Palm v the Beast at the end was probably the least of the bunch.
@@basildraws Agree completely, Basil.
The fight scenes in Atomic Blonde are some of the best we’ve seen recently in my opinion. They are so brutal and visceral without relying on shakycam. Every blow is crystal clear
There's also an awesome long sequence of her fighting and it's so well made!
Props for including Donny Yen. He's got even better fight scenes where he goes full-blown MMA and the fights end up looking fantastic.
Grimbanks Flashpoint, right?
+John Doe Flashpoint, yes.
+Grimbanks My absolute favorite, though very underrated. Was very impressed with the #3 video, as it was something I was not aware of.
The Raid 2 kitchen scene
True. Even The Raid 1 should be in the list.
Holy shit, I just saw this for the first time.
I think the car chase was way cooler
That is the main scene I was waiting for.
i agree the "Kitchen Fight Scene" was definitely the Best one...that being said, this video came out before Raid 2 did.
For my opinion fight between Jackie Chan and Benny Urquidez in"Meal on the wheel" is one of the best fight scene of all time.
Game Over - Thanks for the recco, great scene!
Jackie chan brought bad comedy to the martial arts. I hate it.
Big facts
@@vagsancho you would probably like his more serious movies then police story 1 and 2 heart of dragon thunderbolt etc.
Thanks- I'll check it out!!🤠🖖
OLD BOY - alley fight
KINGSMEN - church scene
FLASHPOINT - final scene
JOHN WICK - Parking garage scene
WATCHMEN - Beginning fight
@Aritosthenes send me a link idk that one (watchmen was cool)
@Aritosthenes that looks cool I'm gonna watch this when i get some time thanks
The First Purge: Dimitri beating smileys ass to stairway to hell in a building
Marcus Pacheco ally fight? Not the hallway?
Kung Fu Hustle...The musicians vs The Slumlords, or the when the 3 Masters reveal their Kung Fu prowess. Every fight in that movie is unique and fantastic.
+SLVMBER thank you sir for mentioning. God I love that movie's fight scenes
good flick, but id put it on an honorable mentions list before the top ten, due to the cgi they used.
That was a good movie with many good fight scenes.
don't forget the Protector
Absolutely yes, though they're over the top, Kung Fu Hustle boasted some of the more impressive fight scenes. Surprised Jet Li fighting himself in The One didn't quite make it, but he got on this list for Hero, so whatever.
Guess I'll have to watch that Killzone movie, though if you've seen Ip Man, you've seen unsurpassed fight scenes from Mr. Yen already.
The bathroom fight scene in Ninja Assassin was absolutely brutal, violent, somewhat realistic as far as the actual fighting goes, and incredible.
Nice suggestion!
+CineFix I beg to differ.
Being a trained ninja myself, it looked to me more like a kid trying to rob somebody.
Marissa Cabrera well, in all fairness that's partially what it was. But let me assure you, 99.99999% of your common thieves don't fight like that. Nor do 99.999% of your robbery victims for that matter ;)
He was a ninja.
No excuse.
He racks disciprine.
Marissa Cabrera Werr prayed
Bruce is still number 1 after so many years of his depart. RIP Master Lee 🙏🙏🙏
Jet Li's "Fist of Legend" should've definitely be on the list.
Was that where he fought the Japanese general? Incredible!!
Also that scene where he fights blindfolded with funakoshi fumio. Incredible.
@@pauliethemushroomman Yes!
While it IS based on Bruce Lee's film of the same name, the choreography in Jet Li's version was astounding. Should have been on this list for sure as it was fairly on par with Donny Yen's stuff.
Kung Fu Hustle, some truly fantastical fight scenes
That movie was amazing. Funny as hell but the fight scenes where amazing. Got to love the landlady lol
William Pabon Shaolin Soccer is another good movie. Worth a watch if you get the chance.
@@TURNKEYiNK ok thanks I will take a look
Love that movie!
TURnKEYiNK I love the shopkeepers defending their establishments... Well written as well as coreographed
I have to give a mention to Scott Adkins, mainly as Yuri Boyka from the Undisputed franchise. That's one that shouldn't have been left out. His fights may not have been as iconic as many on this list, but his fights are incredibly visceral, real, and ridiculously skilled. Adkins is one of those guys that never uses wires or stunt doubles, and he can do some truly amazing shit in the ring.
That guy never gets enough recognition for his skills.
Boyka... Boyka... Boyka, Boyka, BOYKA!!!!, BOYKA!!!!,BOYKA!!!!.
Truth. In the Undisputed series he hits that wonderful balance between brutal efficiency and acrobatics. Better than some of Tony Jaa's stuff imo.
Yea scott adkins for one of the undisputed fights should have been on the list, scott does use wires mainly to capture the guyver kick. He definitely could have taken the bourne spot.
too damn true
How did the fight from They Live not make it?! Roddy Piper and Keith David killed it, and each other.
for me The Raid 1&2 last fight, it's beautiful
Uh... Ip Man “Give me 10!”. That beat down was freakin epic. Should’ve made the list.
F Bomb , DT you
The emotion in that scene in terms of Japan's invasion and Ip man's friend's death was also pretty breathtaking, it all made it probably my favorite fight scene ever
Fr everyone's like Bruce Lee Bruce Lee but who da nigga who taught him.
lilkumquat Bruce Lee surpassed Ip Man by miles. Bruce Lee > Ip Man
lilkumquat Ip Man only taught Bruce Wing Chun. Bruce went on a journey to create Jeet Kune Do using many martial arts. Also Bruce’s stats and achievements are greater than that of Ip Man.
Makes me wonder why the fuck would a director choose "shaky cam" for a scene if the fight choreography is so well done that it works from a stationary angle. "Artistic effect"? Come on...
shaky cam is cancer. That shit is EVERYWHERE in US action films, I fucking swear! We need to start a petition. I am serious
+zolikoff The problem is that there's good shaky-cam and there's bad. Ever since the Bourne trilogy there's been tons of other directors that tried it and failed. The key to good shaky cam is to add to the visceral fight but still be able to see what's going on. The Desh vs Bourne fight was fast, intense but you can still see what is happening to each person getting hit. If you watch the really bad examples of shaky cam (like the Taken sequels) you'll see the difference. There's definitely tons of people analyzing what makes good and bad shaky cam if you're interested.
Check this video out by Stuckmann: watch?v=eac0lXfMs9c
If you don't want to watch the whole thing jump to time stamp 10:11 in part 5 of that video where he talks about shakycam.
+bamb0ostick ya shaky is like wire work its either really good or really bad
Because the director THINKS fights in real life are confusing and chaotic. In those situations where it looks messy, it's not the fight that's messy, it's the fighters. That, somehow, connects with the classic anti shaky cam argument, bad technique.
The Raid 2 "Kitchen Fight". Kiss Of The Dragon "Jet Li vs The Twins. Highly underrated
Just for The Raid 2, this list needs a Redux version
Old boy, it has the most realistic fight scene
whoa, so Jacky Wu and Donnie Yen practically fought for REAL in that Saat Po Long scene? Sweeeet!
jeFF Fury The 40 seconds in the middle of the fight was not designed beforehead, they fought real.
Qier W well, that's what Mojo said, they did get to fight for real, trying to tag each other with their "weapons". Which made one hell of a fight sequence, didn't it?
It makes me sad that Kung Fu Hustle isn't on this list. Sure, it's a comedy, but those fight scenes are amazing.
+Dread Naught but most of the fight scene were CGI...
+Dread Naught It should have at least got an honorable mention. Yes, it was full of CGI, but the fights were no less impressive.
+Ah Huang And the fights in the Matrix? It's on the list.
Atomic Blond, Charlize Theron did a damn good job in those fight scenes...
The Raid 2 Kitchen Fight is the best ever, period. For fights in mainstream movies Batman V Superman warehouse scene
THIS!!!!!
Mainstream ?
You mean superhero blockbuster movieS?
The kitchen scene is pretty damn good. But in my opinion, I prefer the corridor scene with baseball boy and hammer girl.
I knoow, why nobody mention the raid scenes omg
The knife scene in Man from Nowhere is a better scene.
IP man vs 10 black belts? IP man vs Twister? IP man vs the Japanese general?
Yes definitely
That should be number 1 or 2 at least
***** it can both ways , depending on language
***** the correct name is Yip, but in all of the movies the name is IP.
DarkCrysisX Yessss
Holy crap that SPL scene was improvised? Mad respect.
Seriously!!!!
And then some!!
Partially improvised, still great. I love the intensity you see on their faces and their movements.
Might have to check that one out.
I personally liked the final fight in Flashpoint more, it's the only movie I've seen that incorporated realistic grappling to any extent.
How could you forget the glorious fight between Jet Li and Jackie Chan in 'The Forbidden Kingdom'??
Praying Mantis ? Very good... for catching bugs, not Tigers.
I think Cinefix must mean "Top10 Martial Arts Fight Scenes". For my money one of the best fight scenes in cinema history was the fist fight on the range in The Big Country with Gregory Peck. The scene is beautiful, brutal, human, it moves the story and changes the characters, while also putting the characters and story into visual context. Only fight I've ever seen in a movie where it is clear they fight for ages. Until both men can barely lift their arms. It is my vote for best film fight ever.
Check out the fight scene in "The Spoilers" between Randolph Scott and John Wayne. You may change your mind.
Needed to have raid 2 prison fight
Niall Hannon *every fight
Did they delete the prison fight scene on RUclips?cuz I can't find that scene anywhere.
+unknown unknown. hammer girl and batdude
Mark flores
probably, buy the movie man!!
and the club one with the same actor who played mad dog in the raid 1
How could you leave out kung fu hustle's fight scene...??!
I was thinking the SAME THING!
Giuliano Mango yup that was the one I kept expecting to be next
Giuliano Mango yeah
Kung full hastle has some of best top notch fight scene..
one of the best
3:37 Why go through all that training if they are just going to screw it up with shaky camera work an cuts galore?
Typical hollywood movie. Because the actor was bad or they have no experience in real martial art, thus using the camera effect to cover up.
You see the weak ass behind the scenes that's why theres shaky cameras
or because it fits the story, and jason bourne's frantic state of mind... jesus christ people
@@i_so_late you want to see a proper messy fight? go check out Donnie Yen vs Wujing fight
@@i_so_late shaky camera work an cuts galore do not "fit a story".
The fight with the guards in Enter The Dragon is my all time favorite.
IP man vs ten black belts
Arry Ferrari I think that should have been 2 or 1 IMO, that scene was excellent
i loved the ip man movies and Donie is a great fighter but that fight feels soo wrong. He can punch a single target for 2 seconds straight without anyone (8 or 7 at the time) interferring? Feels soo wrong.
Laurens Brand it's not that,it's implied he punches so fast they dont have time to get there. Also, would you be less eager to fight if you saw somebody getting beat up like that.
lordadeuce exactly lol.. it's easy to be brave behind a keyboard with zero risk involved. Totally different face to face watching a mate get his ass handed to him. Lol
Arry Ferrari When you put into context the story that he didn't want to have to fight but felt that he had to take avenge his friends death, it really connect's with the viewer when he takes on Ten black belts.
every kid in my neighborhood went out and bought nunchucks after we saw Bruce Lee use them in Enter the Dragon.
Earl A. Birkett I chopped up my mother's broom and stole the choker chain off the dog.
sprontos u creative af
Umar Elmouna I'm also mildly retarded, so...
Earl A. Birkett we made them. lol 😁
I didn't buy mine I made them out of an old broom stick
The hallway fight scene in Oldboy should be on this lost and near the top. The most realistic and unique compared to anything on this list; and it was a damn good list.
no JCVD or Jason Statham I'm shocked!
-fearless jet li
-IP man 1 Donnie yen
-anything with Micheal Ja white
-every fight in Cursed of the golden dragon
Agreed man. You should have made this list. Definitely agree with Fearless being on the top of the list
i liked jet li fight scenes at the end of kiss of the dragon
Damn, You forgot the most important , Yuri Boyka, Scott adkins!!!!
Quayshawn Dameron Micheal jai white is the best also with Scott Adkins
Aaron Sedgwick definitely agree
I loooove Ong Bak but i thought the IP Man movies had some pretty amazing fights, Great picks though!!
I was hoping that fight in IP Man where he fought 10 guys would be in the list, but all that looks great too
DarkKuroNeko The movie Ip Man did not do the man, or the martial art of Wing Chun, justice, they got the stance wrong! One of the most important parts of Wing Chun and possibly every martial art! I know this because I've been doing Wing Chun for nearly 10 years.
Will nuffsaid Technicalities aside, the fights in Ip Man one had a unique brutality to them.
Will nuffsaid
Nice i'm thinking about taking it soon it's a life goal for me!
It's awesome.
Must have been a lot of fun making this list! 🥰The fight between the two women in "Crouching
Tiger" was incredible. 2) Jet Li in the classroom against the Japanese in Fist of Legend. 3) Jet Li against the Japanese master in "Fist"....Donnie Yen...yeah...just pick one! The Matrix....just didn't work for me. The lack of actual skill is very clear. The fight against the kidnappers in "Extraction" could easily take Neo off this list. Great job!
Bruh, I'm glad Donnie Yen is on the list because I was holding out for an Ip Man Scene, any IPMAN SCENE!! :P :D
Jackie Chan: rooftop scene in "Who am I?" and rematch in "Gorgeous."
that's one of my favorites
well played, both awesome fights, although a pretty bad film, the Gorgeous fight scene is one of the fasted punching scenes ever filmed....
Bar-room fight in Project A?
Agreed. rooftop fight scene in 'Who Am I' was awesome
It also had that awesome car chase seen where a white evo i think did that insane park thats seen in memes.
Oldboy!!!! The raid!!! The raid 2 (the final fight scene in the kitchen!!!!!) You guys are killing me here!
Kinda surprised I didn't see Oldboy's corridor fight here
I think that many of their videos should be retitled to things like "Top 10 most revolutionary fight scenes." They're still great though.
*starts fighting*
*Furniture breaks*
"I'll pay for that"
*fighting continues*
*Furniture breaks*
"I'll pay for that"
*Furniture breaks*
"I'll pay for that"
*A kid enters*
Kid: "Mum says if you don't start fighting soon everything is going to be broken"
Donnie Yen's Flash point should be on that list, the final fight scene
They Live -1988...”put on the fucking glasses!”
..and Old Boy - 2003
+Razvan Mihaeanu ,
...they were suplexing each other on the asphalt/concrete :) they live
+Razvan Mihaeanu The They Live fight was pretty good, not for intensity, but still good.
+Razvan Mihaeanu hahaha Rowdy Roddy Piper and Keith David... That's a one of a kind scene. So good. I'm going to search for it on RUclips right now.
To me that was possibly the most realistic fight scene I've ever seen in a movie. No flashy choreography, no fancy martial arts. Just a brutal, old fashioned, believable street fight!
+Razvan Mihaeanu FUCK that Hallway scene in Oldboy is SO GOOD
The Ziyi Zhang / Michelle Yeoh battle from CTHD is the best martial arts fight I ever saw choreographed.
I get goosebumps every time I watch it. I think they cover this in another video but the way it speaks to characters as well as being beyond on the choreography adds a layer of amazing.
From Russia with Love fight scene on the Orient Express should have been on this list
The raid hallway scene is the most underrated fighting scenes of all action movies
Dude the Raid 1 and 2 are awesome action movies because of Iko Uwais and those other two who everyone knows
old boy and the man from nowhere should be on the list.
Sidy Baldé you are a great person the man from nowhere was amazing
Man From Nowhere is a great goddamn film
i was just about to put mfn then i seen this. yes 1000% one of my favourite films. then you have protector tony jaa.
lee wright-hughes I wasn't that keen on The Protector. It simply didn't seem very well shot
my best korean movie all of time.. even my film lecturer tell to watch that movie
Much respect gained for Donnie Yen!!! Not many could improvise a fight and make it better than if it were planned.
Blows my mind that two actors could improvise a street fight that's worthy of an action movie in one night.
the "improvised" part is either urban legend, or explicit PR bullshit. That fight was choreographed throughout. Seriously..
The first time I ever saw him was in Highlander: Endgame.
No, a lot of it was actually improvised, and Donnie and Wu Jing actually spar in the fight scene because they knew each other for a long time and they would used to spar with each other.
I'm so glad they included the Donnie Yen fight in this list because to me, it's one of the best fight scenes I've ever watched in any movie and very much underrated.
I thought the fight between jet li and Jackie Chan's "the hidden kingdom" was absolutely amazing! 2 demigods going at it completely w the animal spind affects for their chosen style of kung fu! GOD DAMN IT WAS EPIC!
#1 Family Guy: Peter vs the Chicken.
lol
m4xfl4xst4r without a doubt
I don't like Jim Carrie very much, but that fight on the episode of family guy was a rip of from Ace ventura.
m4xfl4xst4r Haha... I was thinking of that too!
that gave me goose bumps
Jackie Chan v Benny 'The Jet' Urquidez. (Meals On Wheels)
Jackie Chan v Brad Allen (Gorgeous)
+Daiymian Now that fight scene is freakn' amazing, Meals on Wheels
+Daiymian Wheels on Meals would be my pick too
vgyh
I like the roof top fight on Who Am I the most. Both opponents were great
Benny is crazy!
For me, other than the obvious Chuck fight from WOTD, the best fight is from FOF against his own pupil, the late Bob Baker. It's superbly choreographed and Bob actually had some ribs broken from Bruce's very powerful sidekick.
In the Kill Bill fight, the opponents come at her one at a time making it look not as realistic.Meanwhile in Oldboy with the hallway fight, the opponents come at the same time and he still manages to defeat a room full of people with only a hammer.Basically, Oldboy should be on here.
Thank you, was trying to remember the name of the movie, old boy should definitely have been here
I think it was Bruce Lee who said that it would be unrealistic for opponents to come at you all at once (probably because they'd get hit by their fellows)
Thats a fair point. There is a scene in the Raid 2 where two people are attacking the main protagonist and one almost hits her partner with a hammer because they attack at the same time.
@@comradejosephstalinoftheus8698 I agree that Old boy deserved an honourable mention for being balls to the wall insane but in terms of style, Kill Bill has it beat.
I agree, I just have a special spot for balls to the wall action like Hard Boiled, The Matrix, and Killer Bean.
The fight scene in "The Protector" with Toni Jah against the bodyguards in the end is legendary. My #1 pick
That movie has so many great fight scenes. I think my favorite was the fight on the staircase where he went up several flights of stairs fighting a horde of people the entire time. It's my favorite because they did the entire scene with no cuts so by the time he got to the top you could see the exhaustion in him. Plus, as with Ong Bak, he didn't use any wires in this movie either.
I agree! One of the best scenes ever!
Hallway scene in Oldboy, Bittersweet Life or even Mel Gibson final fight in Lethal Weapon 1 should be on the list
Hahahaha
Oldboy
I hope youre talking about the original Japanese Oldboy
yenom williams Korean, not japanese pal.
Let's hope that awful remake is soon forgotten to the world.
The finale of War of the Roses.... Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas...... Brutal!
Very comprehensive list! Great picks all around!
Ong Bak was good, but there's a better Tony Jaa scene in the Warrior King (aka The Protector) in the restaurant, the scene lasts about 3 minutes as he ascends the stairs and levels, dispatching baddies along the way. The most amazing thing about that scene is there are no cuts, it's all in one take.
I mentioned this one, too. It has a lot of actors in it and that they all worked so hard is amazing.
zero edits as he ascends the stairway... EPIC
hell ya
yeah that is what i was thinking, shouldve been there instead of ong bak
I fully agree
I was hoping to see the hammer fight scene from Old Boy make this list.
It deserves to be on the list.
+Duwayno Robertson top 3 imo
+Martin Popvasilev yup...top 3
Yes awesome suggestion. Honestly the fight scene has been replicated and even redone in the remakes but no one has done it effectively.
+Duwayno Robertson That fight scene was absolutely terrible lol
Omg, Killzone SPL. So glad that's in the list. The fights are so good. Wu Jin and Donnie fight was epic.
The alley way fight scene in "They LIve' is 6 mins of insane brutality!
Shocked it's not there
@@MrWiggsy4 Best cinematic fight scene ever.
I've seen that scene a couple of times and still don't understand why people rate that fight so high.
I respect your list, but I think Donnie yen's flashpoint final fight should have made it
HELL YEA...THUMBS UP FOR YOU BUDDY, sorry for the capital letters...its just exciting to finally see someone who either has some sense..or seen the movie LOL
Jesse Ollivierre You damn right!
Jesse Ollivierre 甄子丹邹兆龙
Jesse Ollivierre thank you!!!
I was expecting a Donnie Yen fight and hoping for Flashpoint, but I didn't know the Kill Zone scene was largely unchoreographed which *does* give me an even greater admiration for it!
The Raid 2 leads the other fight movies in one particular regard: The continuity of perspective during the fight. You always know where you are and who is moving in which direction. Not saying any of the films mentioned lack perspective. Just that Raid 2 does it better. The other scene that comes close, in recent memory, is the final fight in Chocolate, the Thai movie, where everyone is clinging and falling from the exterior of a building.
Mark Lyon the raid 2 is brutally awesome lol the raid 2 makes hollywood fighting look like a dance off
GamingPredator
Hoohaa! You said it bro.
+Mark Lyon Watch any Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung movie made in the 80s and see where it all started. Gareth Evans' has said several times that he's a big fan and borrows from their films.
Dook MD
Agreed. However I still believe Evans shows a special knack for focusing perspective. Thanks
You failed to include the battle of achilles and hector in troy, that was an epic fight
puffffff hahaha, lol
Not even close...
I like it also, but it is not even close ...
My favorite was when Achilles took the beach.
Achilles had a little help from his Goddess mother.
“Get up. I will not let a stone ruin my glory”
You missed old boy (2003) terrific fight scene in the hotel lobby
Peter Griffin vs. the giant yellow chicken, any one of them
yes!
#narrowingmyeyes
DAMN RIGHT!!! lol
BA-KA-AAWK
the gang fight in the wanderers
Sword Fight from "The Princess Bride"
Bill Rawlinson No STARWARS either, whats with that?
In kill bill the fight vs bill was pretty damn good. Last of the mohicans, that last fight scene was one of my favorites. Braveheart had some goodstuff and some of the westerns had great stuff.
The last scene in The Man From Nowhere is amazing.
Best knife fight I've ever seen. Well choreographed.
As a former teacher of Jeet Kune Do with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I was very impressed with the alley Daredevil fight in the nextflix Season One. It’s long, brutal, and the actor has to play it as if he’s blind not looking at the strikes coming but “sensing” them. I’ve seen tons of kung fu movies, and that scene was very impressive.
I know I'm 2years late but do you still teach?
Raid 2 Rama's final fight
In my eyes its easily top 10 fighting scenes of all time. No special effects just two guys fighting to the death one on one using silat
Musa Mansa 100% agree, the choreography was great and it felt natural. And they really were convincingly equal skill, Rama is a great fighter but he is not portrayed as better than everyone. He meets his match and or takes some good hits.
Musa Mansa I love the prison yard fight just for its brutality.
RaginCanadian1997 Rama was visibly hurt and exhausted from his fight with the siblings. Rama had to fight tooth and nail to match Uco and come out on top. Uco is a beast!
James swagdank prison yard scene was serious. Both the raid and raid 2 are two classic martial arts movie that exposed me to silat and how brutal it is.
I really feel like 2008's "chocolate" needed a place on this list. absolutly amazing movie for those who havent seen it
My Mate Jeff's favorite film " THEY LIVE" in which he swears this fight actually turned into a real fight on set, and they kept filming
The final kitchen fight from The Raid 2 deserved to be on this list I think
probably not on the list cuz most of this list is about respecting the fights and actors that came before.
but that kitchen fight was dope and is still developing its cult status while these other fights are considered legendary
why not include the corridor scene from oldboy? Or the knife fight from Raid 2?
Not many knows oldboy
I was thinking same :((
The video isn't titled "Top 10 Fight Scenes From Action Movies". The fact that Oldboy isn't an action movie is irrelevant. The corridor scene was shot in one take and, at the time, was absolutely revolutionary. Just like bullet time in the Matrix. The fact that it was omitted was a huge oversight.
Original. It's a single-take tracking shot down the entire length of the corridor.
Well done. Nice work. Thank you.
That one-take ascent up the stairs in The Protector with Tony Jaa.
one of my favorite scenes.
John Wick: Hold my dog...
It’s not that good. The knife scene was good though
I literally did that to a guy before ever watching the film. Because I have a tiny little gay looking dog. Dude was in my face. I handed the dog over to someone, put away my baton, he didn't know about, and kicked off my sandals.
With a fookin pencil!
nah, but one of the best gun fight scenes abolutefckingly!!!
The Raid 2: the whole movie
+Katahn Hardy Especially towards the end : Hammer Girl and Bat Boy... then into the kitchen fight. Damn.
+Katahn Hardy that movie is awesooooooooomeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!
Couldn't agree more
+Katahn Hardy The Raid 2 is insane. Beautiful blend of music cinematography and fighting!
+Katahn Hardy Raid 1 was better. I felt like there was no oomph to the way 2 was choreographed
You covered Jet Li, but I love the end fight in The One.
Love this list
Roddy Piper vs. Keith David in "They Live". Just because of its ridiculousness and inclusion of wrestling moves.
and for length of the fight lol
I agree. Now put on those sunglasses or start eating that trash can
don't be bashful or feel you've gotta discount it as ridic because of anything, The fight you describe IS the best movie fight ever yo. This fight looks down from Mount Substance on the Bruce Lee v. Chuck Norris fight and sneers. Also, can I have a piece of gum as I seem to have run out.
William O'Reiler Mount Substance... classic. :)
Chorkaloopa Ha ha, loved that one!
Great list, but the final fight in The Raid 2 is was on the greatest pieces of action ever shot. It's so fast and brutal and the fighters look like absolute hell when it's over. Really incredible stuff
Rurouni kenshin live action movies fight scenes are extremely incredible, they choreographed both realistically and amazingly.
Those magnificent, warrior women from Crouching Tiger... killed it!!! That battle was EPIC - beauty, power, grace and intensity personified!! BRAVO!!!!!!
