      I LOVE these CCM pants - they never seem to get hung up - they are really big, but I basically never notice them on the ice if that makes sense? Even though they are the lower level model, I haven't felt anything through them either.

    I just got a g5 pro + on clearance with additional money off from a code, so all in its $360 cad! I got it to replace my v8 carbon AND Ultrasonic lol. The v8 carbon was nice, but i didnt like how low it sat on my neck line, and the ultra sonic was even better but man those arms hurt to take shots off so had to go. So far I am impressed with the g5. just in the garage taking shots but so far no arm stingers, mobility feels best and its much lighter then even the ultra sonic. I went a size down because I read everywhere the arms are long, I am glad I did. 5'9 with 63" wrist to wrist and I went SR SM. perfect fit with arms adjusted smaller on the lace. How can you beat a pro model new chesty for $360... what a steal

    Thanks for another great gear review. The ending was hilarious! My vote is for you to keep throwing these in when you are able to.
    I bought a pair of Bauer S27 pants in last year's Black Friday sale and love them. I bought the XL size and am glad I did...I definitely cover more of the net now. I just replaced my 30+ year old Cooper Reactor 5 chestie with a Bauer GSX (size L). I was only able to get out on the ice once and I know that I've still got some adjustments to make. I felt like I was covering more of the net with good mobility, I just had trouble looking down. It rode up a little and my dangler was getting in the way looking down.
    Thanks to an earlier review, I also bought a pair of the Tydan Diamond Edge blades and had them profiled to the goalie SAM profile. I'm of Scottish decent, so I bought the cosmetically challenged 3mm version. They felt great and I'm looking forward to getting back out on the ice. Unfortunately, that's going to have to wait as we shifted into the red zone this week so hockey is done for a while.

      Thanks Bob - - always appreciate another excuse to buy new gear - ha ha! When you talk about your Bauer chesty - -I picture the goalie version of Mark Messier's shoulder pads - - remember those - like a cotton outer stuffed with cotton balls! Glad you are liking the blades - makes such a difference doesn't it? Sorry to hear you guys are in red - - we are as well and it sounds like we might go grey before too long. I am still getting on the ice with just a couple guys to work on skills so that is a blessing, but no more games for a while. Merry Christmas to you and your wife Bob!

      @@goalietraining The chesty you're referring to was the two piece unit that preceded the Cooper Reactor 5. Passau custom chest protector - I love it! They shortened up the arms for me (I hate any interference with my gloves), great Canadian-based company. As for pants, I'm currently using CCM premier. I really like to snug up the internal belt, but that's probably because I don't tuck in my chesty. I had Warrior pants prior to the CCM pants and found that they were just not protective enough.

    Great video, Maria! I'd love to get a new chestie at some point. I have a Vaughn at the moment, but do get stingers on the arms from time to time. That one is a rounder chest, but I think I would prefer a type that folds 90 degrees to go along your sides (like your new Warrior one does, for example). The trick is always finding something with short enough arms. lol. I have Bauer pants that I really like. Pretty much tried on all brands at the store when I got them and picked the ones that didn't dip below my knees. Short goalie problems! I like them a lot though.

    Current chest is bauer X2 pro, and the bauer pro pants from this year. Just transition shortly before covid hit. had passau pro chesty and ccm premier pants before. Reason for switch for chesty.. the passau gave stingers on the arms unfortunately but is a thank in the chest. The x2 is more a mobility switch as you yourself did. The pants were also starting to give stingers and just wear, so switched.

    I have owned 2 Vaughn pro chest and arms in a row and as you said in your video there are things I like and things I don't like. The 2 pro units I have had seemed to be very heavy (partially because I'm wearing one that came out in 2015 so the tech is outdated and partially because I was previously wearing a non-pro model) which of course is no fun. They also aren't quite as mobile in the arms as I would like. The shoulder floaters on the one I have now are way too wide in my opinion which inhibits arm movement. The arms on the unit I have now also aren't adjustable. I'm in a senior small and I probably need a senior xs. What I do love about them is they are bulletproof. They can stand up to any slap shot I have faced. Being a shorter goalie I tend to get hit in the upper arms and collar bone and shoulder areas a lot and I have never had a stinger in one of my Vaughn chest protectors. I trust completely that I am safe in my Vaughn chestie. I think I will likely stick with Vaughn the next time I order one but I will get an xs instead of a small one but if I'm in a store between now and then I will certainly try on a Warrior model just to compare. Thanks for the great video!

    • @goalietraining
      @goalietraining  3 года назад

      I totally hear what you are saying with companies getting the shoulder floaters too wide - I think the G5s are a little more tapered than the GT2s were. I know some companies will let you order XS arms on a S chesty which sort of 'customizes' the fit a bit. I've been on the ice about 20-times with this unit now and have not felt a single thing through it yet. Good luck with the search!

    I am currently using CCM Extreme Flex 1.9 pants and chesty. I like the slimmer profile of them. I'm short and stalky so wearing bulky equipment makes it tough to move....and as you mentioned, really difficult to reach my head. My previous chesty was a Vaughn Ventus which was really protective but the arms were too bulky to the point that i really had trouble reaching my mask. The CCM feels much better and I have had no issues with protection. One thing I really like with the CCM chesty are the many velcro adjustments making it really easy to get things right. I also use suspenders but have been wanting to try to get used to not using them. I never forget them down but I find them a struggle to put on. They often get snagged in the arm blocks. It would be much better to get used to not using them at all.

    • @goalietraining
      @goalietraining  3 года назад

      Yeah, I think simplifying your set up is always a good idea - have you tried just tying your chesty down instead of using the suspenders? That might work. I still do both, but I think I could go without the suspenders now.

    Hi Maria! Treated myself with a GT2 chestie last month and I'm running into the exact issues you had with it. I've tried tuck/untuck, suspenders on-top, adjustments all over it, and I still find myself uncomfortable with the fit. You explained it just right. Now that it has been a month in, how are your feelings with your new G5? Did it alleviate all your previous problems you had with the GT2?

    • @goalietraining
      @goalietraining  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, it's weird isn't it? I am much happier in my G5 - just feels like I have more freedom. I do sill have to wrestle a little to adjust my mask... or scratch my nose, but it is much better. I'm not sure if all chesties are going to make it tough to do that as the price of protection. But I am happier in it for sure. It definitely sits in my pants better (partly because of the pants maybe) - I don't think I really NEED the suspenders anymore. Am I in LOVE with it to the point where no other chesty could catch my attention? No - once we are out of lockdown I will still be trying on every single chesty in the store. I am eyeing perhaps a custom Passau. But for the price and the protection, I am very happy with it. I would give it a 8/10 right now. Does that help?

Itchy nose during a game? Forgetaboutit. I purchased a new pair of Bauer Senior XL Supremes in order to get my slides and pushes functional. They replaced RG/T 1st generation. Better but still needs work. I feel my pants aren't letting me get my leg up enough to push. Pants are large. I thought extra large would make me too bulky???? I'm 6' 200lbs. ALWAYS not trying to blame equipment on performance, it's always a decision to upgrade or not. Both are due for change. If I could get both for under a grand tax in delivered, I'd consider it. New goalie here, just started playing in October and I’m 44. I picked up the Axis pants almost a couple of months ago.
