    I was ‘window shopping’ on Amazon this evening and ended up ordering 3 books……….Cool Flowers (Reg price $22.95 Amazon $17.99), Cut Flower Garden ($24.87) and The Flower Hunter (Reg price $40.00 Amazon $29.56). Amazon was having a promotion on certain items where you buy 3 and the lowest price item is free. So, Cool Flowers ended up being free.
    Thanks again for sharing your love of flowers.

    Thank you Danielle- these books get me through the winter and inspire me! I requested that our library buy them all! Waiting to see if they will. I own several of them already - I am especially fond of Sarah Raven’s books. I think YOU should write a book! Not all of us have flower farms and are trying to grow cut flowers in a few beds and in our landscape. There are really no books out there for how to do this in the landscape garden. That’s how I found your channel - searching for how to grow cut flowers for the home owner incorporated into the landscape. Your garden is beautiful and you have so much to share for how to do this! With cut flowers being such a popular movement, NOW is the time for you to write your book! And…be sure to include pictures of you in your garden!

    Thank you for all the book titles, Danielle. I bought Cool Flowers because of your recommendation on a different video, and I agree that every gardener should own that book. It is full of information that many or most of us probably never knew, and it is written in a straightforward, interesting way. It has definitely changed the way I will garden from now on. I plan to check some of the other books you recommended today as well. Thanks again.

    We all need to have a well stocked book shelf...because if the internet was disrupted wed be wondering how to do everything! What is the name of the amaryllis by your left shoulder...so dreamy!
    I bought some clearance bulbs at walmart....because I cannot afford to spend a lot on just one bulb...and ive been so pleased at how resiliant some of these bulbs have been. Big thick stalks and suprised at which ones i end up loving the most...because the pics dont do them justice. I love them all but my biggest wows are the Tinkerbell...three stalks each give an amazing show of such beauty...and the Marquise...big double beautiful flowers but the lack of stems and flowers in quantity are made up for by the huge full double blooms....im just having the best time discovering new developments daily and is the gift that has just kept giving. I have many more blooms and types to wait to open every day.

      @NorthlawnFlowerFarm  2 года назад +1

      I will have to look into Tinkerbell! Sounds lovely! The one in the vase is Sweet Nymph (a pink double), and the ones on the other side of me are sweet star (light pink single) and flamenco queen (red and white). I hope you have a lovely day!

    Hi Danielle. I bought Chris McLaughlin book called Growing Heirloom Flowers-Bring the Vintage Beauty of Heritage Blooms To the Modern Garden. I enjoy this book every time I refer to it. Her cover is absolutely beautiful and textural. She also describes the history of flowers as well as growing them with tips. She also has a sense of humour that is entertaining.

However, it has been your videos that sparked a fire in me to finally create the cutting garden that I’ve wanted for many years. I have Sarah Ravens The Cutting Garden, I'll look for her new one. I just bought Lisa's book last summer, I seen on PepperHarrow Farm channel about Larkspur, that was spring, I put my whole planted container in the freezer for a week or so, then the fridge and after that I had germination. Cannot say enough great things about your videos. Amy Stewart of Flower Confidential, has several other books and one of them, The Drunken Botanist, is also an audiobook. I listened to it last springtime while driving around admiring all the blooming trees. Your amaryllis look amazing and I was curious about the blue curvy top/lettuce edge vase. My now adult children were voracious readers and we called Barnes & Noble the cookie library! It always smelled like cookies and coffee. Yum. Thus it became a pricey pastime but well worth it. I recently found a book at a used bookstore/coffee shop (Grounds for Thought) The Library by Sarah Stewart. Anyone who loves to read would love this short (15 pages?) story that is adorably illustrated by David Small. Happy Gardening from Ohio!

      Hi Cheryl! Larkspur is hardy to zone 6. In zone 5 I would recommend direct sowing it in very early spring - 6-8 weeks before your last frost. It takes a long time to germinate - 14-21 days - the bed should be kept evenly moist that whole time. I hope that helps!
