My family and I figured it out when we got some glowing bouncy balls. They came with two glass capsules inside that you had to break by forcefully slamming the ball onto a hard surface. It took a lot of force.

If you can find a type of soap that will get the glow stick solution to emulsify you should make a glowing bubble solution then put it in your hydrogen bubble making system and send glowing hydrogen bubbles into the air particularly at night!!

One of the substances in the glowsticks should be an ester, which feels oily, but isn't oil. Because of this, there won't be any kind of soap, which he can use to emulsify.

Luminol! I did a final chemistry experiment using glowsticks last year. Getting the glowsticks open is never fun. The reason the blue glowsticks show up clear is that luminol (the chemical that creates the glow) inherently glows a blue colour. So no dye is needed! Typically the clear reactor liquid is hydrogen peroxide. The reaction is not deadly in small quantities, but shouldn't be consumed in large amounts. It can cause eye and skin irritation, as well as throat irritation if consumed (so keep it away from your pets). Also, it will dye everything it touches. I destroyed five stirring rods through the course of my experiment just because they were dyed a green-yellow after like three uses.
Effectively, the glowstick contains hydrogen peroxide (the clear liquid) and a luminol/Dibutyl phthalate plus a dye. The luminol is kept within a glass container within the glowstick, as seen here. thick plastic exterior is used to allow the glowsticks to bend, but also to protect your hands from the glass breaking inside. Glass is used since it can easily break, unlike, say, a plastic. Dibutyl phthalate is also used to make plastics soft and flexible, so using an internal plastic container may not be as effective.
Basically, glowsticks are a ton of fun and if careful (plus adult supervision if you're a kid), opening them can be an interesting experiment. Luminol is also what's used on crime scenes, in order to react with blood to make it glow.

It really depends on how the colour is achieved. If it is a neutral colour light and a colour filter then it would be subtractive colour addition. The blue is definitely producing actual blue light, but I'm not sure about the other ones

In the army I used to stick these in the turbine engine exhaust from the Abrams tanks. The sticks glow super bright and then burst as the plastic melts. Pretty cool light show. Sticking them in the exterior exhaust from the crew heater is even better as the turbine exhaust tends to aerosolize the fluid making it harder to see while the heater exhaust just sort of burps the fluid out.
It's also fun to tie a string to the end and spin them around. You can really get some height if you let go at just the right time.

The heat, or lack thereof, either speeds up or slows down the chemical reaction that makes them glow. The two liquids become more viscous when chilled and end up moving and combining slower. The opposite happens when you warm them up. Also, the inside of the glass vial is filled with a phenyl oxalate and fluorescent dye solution and outside the vial is a hydrogen peroxide solution. This also may explain why the liquid soap containing sodium hydroxide (lye) would accelerate or enhance the reaction.

Please don't drink it! The clear liquid is hydrogen peroxide, the other liquid is probably diethyl phthalate with some other not too friendly chemicals dissolved in it, including TCPO. Could be the other way round but I don't know.

If not, I bet adding soap before mixing is going to make the initial reaction super luminescent.

Keep in mind the colors of paint and the colors of light mix wayyy differently, I noticed you said that mixing paint makes a brown color. But TECHNICALLY mixing all colors of light should give you white.

Crimson Wolf Is the Hydrogen Peroxide used up in the reaction, the reason it eventually fades, or is the solution used up as it glows... in other words... would the glow last indefinitely if no reactor was used and instead the glow was powered by a blacklight? Would make for some interesting signs

recently did a color-mixing chart in art -- you'd be surprised how many ways you can make green (including with orange). Similarly, orange is just lighter hued brown, hence why you can use oranges in skin tones that would be considered tan, and why you got orange with the bright fluid.

I know why the mixed dyes came out orange.
Dyes of rainbow coloring when mixed together tend to make brown, as all of the colors are being mixed together, so if you have just the right mix, it looks grey or even white. It looks brown because there are more "warm" colors than "cold" visible to the naked eye (for reasons I will not go into here) and therefore, the average color of the paints would naturally shift towards red, which orange is just a little more energetic than red.
And technically, brown is just orange but less bright. You can try this out yourself by going to any color picker and making an orange color and shifting the darkness down until you get brown. If you put that brown on a white background, the brown spot will look very brown, but that same brown on a black background looks more orange than brown. Try it out yourself.
But getting back on track, since the dyes in the glow sticks are, well, glowing, they appear pretty bright. Because brown is just dark orange, when you brighten it up, you get orange.
Edit: The reason the mixed dyes appear green when it's thinned out is probably because with less material, you get less brightness. With less brightness, it's easier to see the other colors of light that are normally overpowered by the red-leaning colors.
And because green is the brightest color (according to how the brain processes color reception), when there are pretty equal amounts of light, green will tend to be more pronounced.
But "green" stars appear white because they have *mostly* green light, but because of how electromagnetic radiation works with temperature, when the peak of the curve is on green, there's also a considerable amount of all the other colors mixed in there too, giving it a white appearance.
But with the glow sticks, they only emit the one specific wavelength to achieve the desired color. And since you had 2 vials with green colors (yes, I know the yellow is pure yellow, but the brain perceives it as yellow because the yellow light activates the green and red receptors, just less than pure green activates green and pure red activates red) 2 vials with red color, and only 1 vial of blue, green will overpower the other colors, but there's still that distinct pasty green color in the thinned dye
