Believe it or not...to my horror, last year on a visit home, I caught my parents about to throw out a battered old geneve from the 1960s....I rescued it and had it nicely cleaned and serviced. Wear it Monday to Friday to work. Its 54 years old and keeps accurate time...and it has a full 2 day power reserve....for a 54 year old watch I find that remarkable....very well made...
Wow. Glad you saved it and got it cleaned and serviced. I adore mine. Geneve's are a great way to experience a luxury timepiece without breaking the bank.
I have a 1971 Omega Genevé. Belonged to my great-grandfather and has been passed down to me. It’s a custom for the Yugoslav railways that was given to workers who were also decorated war heroes. Thinking of having it restored as it is a family heirloom.
Purchased my first Omega watch today, 1975 Geneve (running), very happy with it I went from an Orient Bambino, and I love the simple dress style. Going to get it serviced and the glass polished next week.
Wow thats really a coincidence, I just purchased a vintage running Geneve after sticking with my Orient Bambino for nearly 2 years. The sleek style of it and vintage feel is great
My OMEGA GENEVE has everything I want in a watch - me and my workmate Stuart talk about watches and once I got my OMEGA I stopped talking about other watches and Stuart is jealous
I have the 1975 geneve and it's plated gold too with a black seconds hand, saying geneve and swiss made as well with the champagne white dial. The crown on it is every bit as hard to use but my one is gold fortunately!
Bellissima recensione.... Potresti dirmi perché non c'è il logo Geneve .Non ho capito cosa cambia da questo a quello con il logo che hai fatto vedere in video Grazie
Catawiki sums it up real nice: "When acrylic crystal breaks, it does not shatter which is why most of Rolex sports line used acrylic crystal. Omega even chose this material for their Speedmaster watch that went to the moon, in order to prevent crystal splinters from floating around in space should the watch break". Acrylic and plexiglass synonymous. Omega historically calls it plexiglass. Like it or not it is part of their past. Mass usage of sapphire was not common until the 1980's.
Добрый день! Очень интересные часы!!! Классная Омега. В особенности, музыка в видео с 1:17 по 6:10. Подскажите пожалуйста кто исполнитель музыки? Спасибо!
Jeff my dad gave me an Omega Geneve that he purchased in Spain back in 1971, I know is 18k gold including the bracelet, not interested in selling it but would like to get some info on it, can you please guide me? I have not been able to find a similar one on line.
Hi, is it hard to get a cal 1030 serviced? I saw Omega enthusiast said watches with 1000 series calibre are hard to be serviced because there is less demand for those watches but i like wanna buy a geneve 136.0.102
This link will explain the service in detail. It can be done by a qualified technician. "Anything is difficult until it is not". By this I mean that once you know how to service it ...you can do it. onatelier.co.uk/omega-calibre-1030-9ct-gold-dress-watch-service
Overated plain looking watch that looked like any others on the market, they have inflated prices due to its name, giving the brand a snobbish name for collectors of high-end watches!.
My omegas have a 565 movement. Look that up and see how well they are designed and how decorated the inside is. You dont even get to see it and the details are stunning

I have 2 from 1969 that keep perfect time. I’m like you, I wear them during the week and my Rolex on the weekends.
@@rampantcolt cool man....thats exactly the same as me...4pm on Friday the Geneve comes off and the Explorer goes on...what Rolex do you have??

You should do that.😊
Same story here. Got a Geneve from Yugoslav Pobjeda Gorazde! Love the watch.
Similar here - I have an 1976 Omega after my grandfather, who received it while working in Beograd at FAP - FAMOS.

My OMEGA GENEVE is definitely a hand down the family watch 😀

@@kyberbricks3781 from a first enthusiast watch the Bambino to a vintage Omega feels like the correct step to take.
Thanks for the history, very underrated watches for what they offer.
Agreed. Thanks for commenting Majed.
I've got a 78 steel Geneve automatic on my wrist as we speak. Very good condition it is too - was my grandads.
I Seriously thank you for your output & general knowledge. Don't forget the style.
+@MrBlaser51 of course
My OMEGA GENEVE adds good to my life
I’m actually looking at purchasing a watch from the same place you bought yours from; Watch Vintage in Bath in the UK. Seems a very reputable seller
+@oliverjones9889 Yes.
I have exactly the same one. I am very happy with it. Thank you very much for the nice and giving informations about the watch.
Great watch. Glad you love it too Ahmet.
Great video. Lots of information. I have the 1975 9kt solid gold version. Beautiful watches.
They are! Thanks for watching😊
My OMEGA GENEVE has everything I want in a watch - me and my workmate Stuart talk about watches and once I got my OMEGA I stopped talking about other watches and Stuart is jealous
What are the 24 jewels made of in the GENEVE
Stuart now has a MOONSWATCH 😀
Jeff I've got a CONDOR strap on my GENEVE - nice
With an OMEGA clasp
I have a 1979 Geneve with the 751 movement and I have it on an olive NATO strap. It's great.
It sure is.
It's a beautiful timepiece, thank you.
+@clifforddriver9434 it is special
The 1012, 1022 movement is pain in the ____ to regulate

Great watches. Too bad about these crowns though. Don't know why they made them so hard to pull.
I was just given an Omega watch from my great grandfather. Looks a lot like this. How can I be certain it’s a Geneve?
Geneve's have many variations.

I just bought one on eBay from a charity for £280 ($320) with gold plating and original everything. Is that a good price?
+@mikahina3909 heck yeah
Love the no Geneve version!
Have it on now as a matter of fact. A real beaut.
I have a 1973 without Geneva on the dial. Not sure what that means but It was passed down to me from my father.

What would a square blue dial version, from 1971, be worth in very good condition?
I would suggest contacting Omega Forums. Many of these guys and gals are experts on this topic. Be sure to send pics.

just curious jeff, why a plexiglass crystal rather than sapphire? Is that an economic or availability issue?

What is a tool 9070 in the case back of my watch mean?
It is a case reference number.
May I know the name of that opening music, thanks!
I use Renderforest and the title is whatever is used in the water droplet template so I am unsure.
I love dials that have different personalities depending on when and where they are...much like my women.
lol
Veramente stupendo omega Genève vintage 👍
ovviamente
Now is Omega, before Helvetia
