When ecosystems collapse, nature can no longer function as it should. Important processes like water purification by the soil, CO2 storage by trees, temperature regulation by vegetation, and natural habitats for animals are lost. A collapsed system leads to severe consequences, such as more extreme weather conditions, erosion, and flooding. Moreover, rebuilding lost biodiversity is difficult, time-consuming, and requires extensive knowledge-like trying to rebuild a tower block by block.
