It’s a gesso frame!! I love those and I usually sell them for pretty big money! But I’m all for you doing what you like with it and making it your own! Fun!!
This probably doesn't apply to what you are using but one time I was using paint stripper in a garage. I was using a kerosene heater at the time. There was a reaction with an open flame and it almost got me. I was not near the heater but the fumes reacted and took my breath away quickly.
@@RachelStrickland I had a few even worse ones. We had an automatic pool chlorinator when I was about 10. Those things are not toys. My Mom wanted me to put the dispenser in the machine which I did. I forgot to poke vent holes in the top. It made Chlorine gas and exploded shooting the machine about 100 feet in the air. It instantly bleached our pool liner from blue to white in one area as it propelled in the air. Another time I put pool algicide in a bucket and then added chlorine. Chlorine is an oxidizer and you can't do that. The bucket started shooting flames even as I threw it in the pool water. It seriously was burning in the water. Pools are so dangerous for kids to be playing with. Another time I was using an oxy-acetylene torch which I use often. The acetylene in the tank is suspended in sponge of liquid acetone because acetylene is very unstable. You can only draw out (use) so much acetylene at a certain rate or acetone come up the hose and will get in the torch. Well I was heating a piece of metal with a fairly small tank and I used too much acetylene too fast and the acetone came out in the torch and the torch handle went from room temperature to like 1000 degrees with a loud BANG in a spit second. It burnt my hand faster than you can even drop the torch. The explosion was so loud I didn't think I was alive. It is impossible to explain how fast it happens. You can't even imagine a temperate change that fast. So if anyone uses an oxy-acetylene torch you want to use the biggest acetylene tank you can afford or get because it lets you draw more out of the tank with little risk. I consider myself lucky with this one because it could have been much worse. Sorry about the long post but maybe it will help someone.
@@RachelStrickland Thank you! Setting my office/ebay room up has been fun. Unfortunately the house IS rough around the edges and unlike Drew I am not a handy person lol.
I'm glad you had so much fun doing the painting. I don't know that I would spend 4 days doing the frame but I will have to say the frame turned out gorgeous! The paint job is interesting, I'm not going to lie it's not my style, I feel like it's something AI would come up with. I would probably like to see you do an entire art piece with pop art instead of parts of it. Nonetheless, keep up the good work 👍
Tell me about you best thrifted upcycle.
Not much but some tarp money 💵
Ohemgee thank you!

Wow! That's scary to consider! So many dangerous chemical reactions can occur with every day items

@@linb2527 agree - not a fan of the painting but the frame is great!
I admit it, I'm disappointed by the lack of Declaration of Independence under that picture.
😆 🤣 😂 i love this. Same.
@@RachelStrickland I sliced open the back of a Godey's Lady's Book print in hope of $ and no luck; I really want to watch it happen for someone! 😊
Note: I work in safety, I believe if you have to wear gloves to work with a chemical , you probably should not be breathing either. Be safe
That's a good point. I definitely worked next to the open window but maybe next time I'll grab a mask too. 😷
