It just occured to me that the tubes on the "ceiling" of Metyr's realm are probably the roots of all the fingers in the world, I imagine now that when the fingers share their wisdom, Metyr is whispering into their roots like those playground pipes you talk to people through.

I really like this idea, because we know that Metyr is a broken star that the greater will abandoned. Which would mean that since the beginning, the fingers never really spoke with the greater will
@@namelessiam7792 i'm almost certain that is actually confirmed. I dont remember which item's description states it, but metyr and the fingers lost all connection with the Greater Will. The words of the finger are indeed those of the greater will, but they're words from a time when metyr wasn't abandoned yet. That's why they go still after you get rejected by the erdtree. Metyr wasn't expecting this, so she doesn't know what to tell you next, and she must take some time to try to guess what The Greater Will would want.

Using the Ringed Finger from the Fingercreeper ancestor, as well as the Sacred Relic Sword (the weapon of the Elden Beast as the other Fallen Star in the Lands Between) is a really neat theme for taking down Metyr!

i absolutely love how many different tools you've incorporated into the fight to punish different attacks, makes it so much more fun than a normal no-hit with star fists or whatever.
Waiting for Ongbal to no-hit Romina and kill her with with scarlet rot, since he killed the Mother of Fingers using the Ringed Finger.

Hey Ongbal, amazing! Even when I tried to no hit this boss, that stupid laser attack was the only one I couldn't figure out for the love of god. Btw, think you need to update the description on the spells/incants that you used, still says Messmer's orb from the Midra fight I believe.
He did use Messmer’s Orb in the Midra fight

There is a gap between Metyr and the laser, just stand in that gap and the laser can't hit you.

Is it not possible to outrun it? I got that idea after like 30 attempts but on my next try it i got very good rng and beat it but it left me with that doubt

I tried everything on that thing, dodging it physically impossible, you can't run beneath it because there's not enough space, you can't run counterclockwise, it will still hit you no matter how early you start to run, you can't run away from it either, because it works on the entire arena. This move is officially the most stupid attack in all the Elden Ring. Waterfowl dance was officially dethroned.
If you stand real close to the middle damaging aura under the boss right at the edge, the lasers just pass right over you i found

Appreciate that you always switched up your build in these and not resorting to the most broken shit available in the game too, because doing a 'no damage' run is very doable by anyone with some certain stupid build in this game

Love the amount of weapons you utilize. Great bow to shoot him while in the air, lightning cuz extra damage in water, raptors of the mist to avoid the attack, wave of gold to take out the fingers that spawn, and the giant finger! Brilliant

Hello, I have been following you for a long time.
I am also a player who challenges the no damage challenge.
I just finished defeating this BOSS without taking any damage, but that was because I was lucky.
The BOSS did not release 02:46 move, so I was able to complete the no damage challenge.
I think that move is impossible to dodge at close range, but I still believe that the last hope is you.
You can always create miracles, but it seems that you have also come to the conclusion that you cannot dodge it normally.
although it’s a bit of a pity, you still ran well.
At the same time, I was disappointed with fromsoftware for the first time. They actually made such an unsolvable move.
When in doubt - Vow of the Indomitable
If she starts that attack when you are in melee range - there is only one possible way to dodge it and it's very stupid. You need Miriam's Vanishing and Bloodhound Step. You can chain the i-frames from the vanishing into BHS with no gap, because BHS i-frames start at frame 1, unlike dodge roll.
Quickstep instead of BHS might work, but the timing is probably insanely tight.
There is a clip of that on my channel. Absolute clownshow of an attack.
@@SwagapagosTurtle I really don't understand some of the design decisions of elden ring bosses. A lot of bosses aren't even decent, they're just terrible. You CAN learn their moveset and master them, but so many of the bosses are just way overtuned and not fun to fight. Seems like fromsoft prioritized cool boss designs over cool movesets
The truth is not even they themselves know how to properly dodge more than half of the boss attacks they've designed outside of just tanking it. I'm still convinced not a single soul from From (ba dum tss) even know how to dodge the Waterfowl Dance.
But is it easy to dodge with Vow of indomidable since it gives a full second ?
The lasers at 2:50 coming out of the black hole... Kind of lines up with what we know about gamma ray bursts / relativistic jets. Breathtaking battle

Ongbal you can also use ash of war vow of the indomitable for first laser.

ONGBAL is a Great One. The lore YT videos haven’t caught up yet, but a careful reading of the item descriptions point to this. Maybe if we get a new DLC we might get some more hints to his nature

holy shit, I love these videos. He uses so many spells during the fight taking advantage of whatever is going on, excellent! Raptor of the mist is clutch when dodging BS ground things that otherwise will damage you, and I didnt know it existed until I saw Ongbals video before. 🤣
Dude I’m on NG+4 on my sl125 PvP character trying to get the sword of night and you just saved my life. I never even thought to use raptor of the mist to dodge the laser, you’re a fucking genius man.

I think there is another way to avoid the sweeping laser but you need to be in the right spot when it activates. I remember being able to stand close to the center in a place where the diagonal laser went above my head. It's possible I ran to the right spot when it triggered but I never managed to find it again in future attempts. I was either too close and got blasted by the whirlwind or was too far and the laser got me.

I knew that laser attack was bull.
It took me a while to figure out that it's better to fight Astel head-on rather than attacking it at the sides. I was having a lot of trouble fighting Metyr until I noticed some parallels to the two boss fights and decided to try sticking close to Metyr's front. I was immediately more productive that way, and your moves in this fight further convince me that I picked up on a valid connection.
I dig the idea of Fromsoft potentially connecting fighting styles with game lore, since Metyr is canonically the first of the stellar alien monster category.
When it spins, the music pop up in my hear: helikopter helikopter...😂

Metyr's fight and lore was the cosmic horror I wanted in the base game.
Bloodborne's cosmic horror was all about eyes, Elden Ring's is all about fingers

This boss and its theme reminds me Rom the Vacuous Spider from Bloodborne.
You can actually dodge the laser by going really up close to her but not into her AOE, the laser misses you if you are close enough
