Ok fine, I can X) Pretty crazy tho. When they announced the incentive goal we were like 400k away. Then ppl proceed to fulfill that and add another 500k on top after and during the run. Def the highlight of this GDQ imo
9:04 word. I had not played elden ring but when a friend of mine showed me a stream of him attempting the DLC bosses I discovered the Lion Dancers OST. Half an hour later I was downloading Elden Ring and a week later with an insane 100 hours sunk into the game I had actually made it there.
Seriously one of the best incentive ideas you guys have ever cooked. Way to capitalize on the hype. Kind of reminds me of the first Breath of the Wild run way back, when you guys got the first 100k stream (or was that a skyrim speedrun?).
Mitch is so good on the couch, talks as much as needs to and let's the gameplay do the talking. please have him back next year, such a joy to watch and listen to.
I wound up preferring the dlc to the main game. It just felt so much tighter. Looking forward to seeing a fully realized run on stage next time (even though this was still cool!)
Yeah same. I liked the areas in the DLC more, as well as the verticality and density. Also loved the challenge, and the importance of the Scadutree fragments made exploration more exciting
I hated the DLC. It's style over substance, repeating and exaggerating issues that late game base ER had. For a FromSoft release, this felt very undercooked. Honestly dunno how the couch in this run can be so positive, ignoring all the mechanical issues like stutters or hitboxes not lining up, erratic enemy placement or, despite "too much dragons" being a prominent complain, absolutely spamming *one* dragon type. Feels like FS didn't really have a solid direction or time to polish for the DLC.
I think the DLC benefits strongly from hindsight. The first play through of Elden Ring is truly a once in a lifetime experience. Secrets behind every corner. So many weapons and builds that are viable. The DLC definitely caters to somebody that knows what they are doing. I did find the world to be a little more empty than the base game though - once you beat Rhadan that’s it. There aren’t even really many places to go back and do some killing to try things out (at least not that I found). The map is incredible though. They used verticality extremely well.
@@AkuniLesare or maybe the couch just like the DLC and don't share the same irks you have. Why would you put a game show case on stream and just shit on it? Not saying there isn't discussion to be made as far as all the "issues" you have, just not the right place or the right time. "2 million HYPE!!! ...anyways the DLC sucks ass guys, I'm gonna kick the shit out of the Mesmer real quick so y'all don't have to"
Well for those of us who can't kill the bosses so quickly, we know that yes, yes dancing lion CAN return to pre-used elements. He can even do al 3 of them in quick succession :p
I run fusion and zero mission and Cscotty makes me feel insanely stupid and untalented but even after 400 hours in Elden Ring this guy makes feel like a toddler sucking on my controller sticks eating applesauce
I was stunned to hear when some people gave up at the hippo. Killed him in 2 casts of ancient lightning storm. There's a very large amount of bosses in the dlc who like to stand in big puddles of water
It's funny that there were people who tried to sue Miyazaki (or From Software as a whole) for the skyrocketing difficulty, while another group of people were already speedrunning the same shit two weeks after release. It's like these two groups of people live in two separate timelines, wild.
With blanxz being allowed to bring a save file that already has everything set up just as a showcase, I'd love to see more stuff like that shown off at GDQ in the future. Showcase the DLCs of Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring with an all-boss run, but let the runners bring any setup they want. One thing I really don't love in speedrunning is the lack of creativity by the time it gets shown off at this level. Everything the runner is doing is the same as what every other runner is doing because other creative people already came up with the fastest strats. Showing off creativity with weapons and attacks you like would be so much more enjoyable, and like they said at the start of this run: it's not scripted, it's just good, clean fights played at a high level.
What a beautiful run, also, F Golden Hippopotamus~! I only died 3 times in my first ever encounter with Rellana, but dying more than I can count to Hippos.
Proof of concept Showcase? And (not knowing anything beyond the run itself) showing off fight tactics for each of the bosses routed so far without major spoilers? Maybe something closer to all bosses/100% down the line would need it as opposed to any% but here it’s more for show I’d assume.
@@JamesVSwan Nice point. To be honest i wish lion beast wasn't optional, since we get the anticipation of enir ilim being closed off and instead of going through that door after burning the tree we get teleported instantly. The DLC is still amazing though

The comment about leveling is only sort of correct, your scadutree fragment level is more important than your actual levels in terms of attack and defense. Im curious how many fragments will end up being ideal in the full run.
Scorpions have 8 limbs and are considered arachnids therefore its pointless to say it triggered arachnophobia and fear of scorpions because arachnophobia is a fear of scorpions.

You must be new to GDQ, very rarely have I seen them not meet a donation incentive for one of the closing runs.
Best thing about the DLC is Bandai namco changed their splash screen. Not getting blinded by white background so nice
i still get a pure white screen before the splash screens
Now if only Steam would do the same for their VAC overlay...

sticky keys during sekiro was pure gold
Mitch is great.
Mad respect for that Rellana fight. That was one I struggled on quite a bit. And Blanxz handled it beautifully.
Can’t wait for the full run, this was masterfully done.

Shadow of the Erdtree, much like Phantom of Liberty, is a better and more complete *game* than most complete "games" companies are releasing.
Despite having issues too, yeah, most are performance issues and subjective tastes. Sote is fucking great
Didn't realize i've been using speedrunner strats for years by just running past all the enemies 😄
That was such a clean dancing lion fight. Also I Killed Messmer first try when I was drunk as shit. I really wish I didn’t do that.
This is super impressive, Blanxz! This is just good fightin!
Skibidi fragments

The music of the Rellana fight is so good
Wild. Insanely skilled souls runner.

blanxz really a different builded person lol
I was stunned to hear when some people gave up at the hippo. Killed him in 2 casts of ancient lightning storm. There's a very large amount of bosses in the dlc who like to stand in big puddles of water
That's why lightning is really good in the dlc. Lots of enemies sitting in a puddle of water just asking to be electrified.
17:37. Why does he use golden vow 2 times ? Does it make the duration or the effect longer ?
nice job blanxz!!
I love how exiting out the game and reloading is faster than opening the gate normally. 11:59
lilaggy let´s go!!!!
Im surprised radahn is not considered the completion
I hope we see some challenge runs at GDQ for shadow of the erdtree...or attempted challenge runs. Hitless, rune level 1, etc.

What´s the ash of war used on Star fist? Lifesteal Fist?
Pretty sure it was royal knight's resolve
i get why but kinda bummed he didnt go until the end and fight the last boss
It's crazy how even speedrunners are kind of struggling with the DLC bosses.
Such a great run, dude popped off against all the bosses and was humble the whole time about it.
3:40 Scorpions are arachnids though

I rekon they'll turn the DLC into an all bosses speedrun rather than the 11 major bosses.
So u mean he should've just skip lion, do skip for rellana, hippo , and kill messmer?
for some reason i thought this was gonna be whole dlc in 26 min lol
I didn't even notice Aggy in the commentator box
It's funny that they call it skidoo fragments cause I've called it that since day one too😂
how did he start the DLC with the backhand blade if this weapon is only findable inside the DLC ?
NG+
Wait, why did he do the Dancing Lion?
speed run without the endboss nice
LOL radhan? I think with this skill you could easy beat the whole dlc ( main route ) would love to see it soon
What is that chest piece he is wearing?
Not entirely sure but looks like Veteran's Armor to me
Veteran's armour, you get it from the Commander Niall at Castle Sol
veteran's armor piece. u can buy it from roundtable after killing snow area commander nail.
Looks like the one from the Veteran armor set to me (that you can buy from the finger reader crone in Roundtable after beating the Castle Sol boss).
Scorpions are also arachnids.
Yo me pase el dlc con las mimas espadas, estan rotisimas con esa ceniza de guerra ojalá no las nerfeen.
What the fuck is this build that your taking minimal damage from Rallana and Messmer? GGs
I missed why divine beast was required?
It's not, and neither are Rellana or the hippo. An Any% run of the DLC will skip everything here but Messmer, haha. But it's still cool to show off.
I wish they would have fought Gaius, absolutely no one likes that fight so it would be interesting to see their commentary on it.
I know there's at least one guy who likes that fight. It's not me, but he exists.

Why call sCadutree fragments sHadutree fragments? Who started that?

Going from watching the ER speedrun to this really shows how empty the DLC is.l.
Cmon wheres the final boss? Great run but this is like having a sundae and only eating the syrup and cherry.
It's just a showcase (partly for the sake of spoilers).
That said, I assume there's just no solid solid route for the DLC run yet.
they didn't want to spoil for some people even though odds are not a soul doesn't know who awaits you at the end of this dlc
probably dont wanna spoil plus the run is not optimized enough to have a speed run, I agree tho I wanted to see i t
Why are you looking for the final boss on a MESSMER showcase?

only a portion of the dlc. meh
Just you wait until the next one.
Called speedrun, no?
The game barely came out, it's the best most can do to even have finished the DLC, let alone optimize
lol were you expecting a 60 hour 'speedrun'
Meh, or in other words, “I don’t understand the purpose of doing something for fun so everything fucking sucks” 😂😂😂
having it be considered a DLC Speedrun and not having the final boss in it is weird to me dont know about you all.
