I'll never forget my mom buying this for me in 1985 when I was just 13, dad would hear me at night in the dark trying to transform it and tell me to go to sleep. I miss those days so much.
I think I had to make the "transforming noise" every time I did it, and for the ones who took a little longer to transform, I really had to stretch it out.
Soundwave has always been my favorite, and the 2020 release caught my eye in stores. Ended up being the catalyst which got me back into buying Transformers again. I'm glad they're re-releasing him for those who missed out, because he became quite pricey on the aftermarket.
Siege and Earthrise really got me back into it as well. I ended up buying WAY too many of them and ultimately sold them on eBay out of guilt. Big regret, of course!
Are you familiar with the MP3 player version of Soundwave? IIRC, it was part of what was called the Music Label line, and a Japanese exclusive. It turned into a _working_ MP3 player. To partially preserve the chest gimmick, and again if memory serves (had to sell mine off 15 years ago), you could insert a MiniSD Card into his chest. No, _not_ MicroSD. Had to get the MiniSD and an adapter for it. XD Rumble and Frenzy were available as headphones. I don't recall of they were related, and might have mixed up their identities with different characters, but I _think_ there was a thumb drive that became Ravage and a computer mouse that transformed into Laserbeak. Not _directly_ compatible with Soundwave, but all in all a nice way to handle things.
Just looked it up and I think I DO vaguely remember that. He's a bit wonky looking, but it WAS a pretty clever way to modernize the idea of Soundwave. Pretty cool!

Very g1 in 1980 Transformers toys make Star Wars in 1977.
I had a Soundwave on a shelf in high-school. I didn't have any cassettes so I put a real micro cassette in his chest for display.

That, in fact, is Buzzsaw.
Yes, it is, but he will always be Laserbeak in my heart. Even when I was a kid. 😂
@@Flashback_Funhouse lol, fair enough.
@@Flashback_FunhouseYou are a wanted criminal of the Buzzsaw police.
* Buys Legacy United Soundwave because he’s a cassette player *
* Doesn’t show the cassette player mode *
*still hasn't transformed it into a cassette player yet
@@Flashback_Funhouse * confusion *
If you like this one you should check out the MP version, there are a lot of KOs out there and they’re very reasonably priced.
I checked it out on Amazon. I love that it comes with Megatron pistol. That's incredible!
