    • @Titan-vi7vh
      @Titan-vi7vh Год назад

      @@jimmycricket5366 Rookie mistake. You don't want to use brass. If a shaving of that brass comes off, then it would be in the pump, and kill it. The hammer was perfect. I don't know who needs to hear this, but the bearing race is MUCH harder material than that hammer, and therefore won't dent.

    • @jimmycricket5366
      @jimmycricket5366 Год назад

      @@Titan-vi7vh If you hit it wrong you might get a sliver of brass coming off otherwise make one out of mild steel which is a lot softer than bearing steel. By the way it is still possible to dent or distort a harder metal with a slightly softer one if you give it a blow with the hammer being made of the sightly softer material.

      @@tracylemme1375 Some major companies wont even allow you to use a cheater pipe, I'd use an impact. Awesome you have been repairing hydrostatic pumps for 50 years, why haven't you done hydrodynamic pumps? Also I am not challenging that this tech. is familiar with disassembly of a pump, only that his orientation of the adjustable wrench is not the best way and that there are tools vastly superior for that instance. ALSO, i will gladly accept your challenge of not using a cheater pipe. A quick hammer strike on combination wrench will usually get the bolt loose.

    Guys at manufacturers are much more confident when repairing/working their own products, a little angry or want to get it done asap but overall a decent job

    Why did you replace the whole endcap? Also why use red loctite when proper torque specs will ensure the component does not walk. Also you never measured the piston shoes, were they damaged?

      valve block (endcap), valve plate and cylinder pistons all had cavitation/aeration damage

    Cool vid. Looks like high-pressure rotary plunger type pump. I've seen similar in aircrafts as fuel pumps. Wear gloves.

      @@Eggsr2bcrushed actually just a pressure comp model. No load sensing on that baby.

    Any time I see someone working with tools without rubber gloves I get anxiety. Must be my PTSD, wasn't like that before deployments
