Passengers a toujours eu le chic pour dénicher des lieux incroyables. Pour ce nouveau numéro, la barre est mise encore très haut : c’est sous la nef du Grand Palais que nous recevons @limperatrice_. Charles de Boisseguin, Flore Benguigui et leurs acolytes y déploient une session de toute beauté associant leurs tubes à des nouveautés extraites de leur nouvel album : Tako Tsubo.
Mélopées rêveuses, orchestration éthérée et vibrations retro : L'Impératrice invite à l'indolence et à une insouciance généralisées. Ses arguments ? Une douce voix féminine et des sonorités vintage à souhait qui ravivent l'âge d'or de la French Touch, Daft Punk et Air en tête. Entre funk, space disco, revival 90's et influences tiki, la musique de L'Impératrice sonne familière tout en étant d'une grande fraîcheur.Après le succès de l’album Matahari (2018), L’Impératrice se rappelle à notre bon souvenir avec un tout nouvel album baptisé Tako Tsubo. Introduit par de nombreux singles - dont le très remarqué « La Peur des filles » - ce deuxième opus permet au groupe de montrer un visage plus éclectique mais toujours aussi dansant. Le changement dans la continuité en somme.
En plus de la musique de L’Impératrice, ce Passengers permet de se pâmer devant la beauté de la nef du Grand Palais. Ce bijou de la Belle Epoque amorçant tout juste une mue devant durer plusieurs années, ce serait bête de s’en priver.

I don’t know. I’m taking slight offense with the use of the word “some”. It kinda insinuates that most music made today is crap and that this band is the exception to the rule. If you’re judging today’s music quality by billboards charts and corporate radio then yes, music sucks. But there’s such a wealth of good music outside of that paradigm that sometimes I get overwhelmed, and it doesn’t take much effort to find because it’s all at your fingertips.

I assume its kinda same for music and to be honest i like that melancholy vibes cause takes me throw back memories of happy or sad times

When I first heard their album TakoTsubo three hours ago, I save it under my Good Music folder, now that I found this, I just have to create a folder L'Impératrice for all of their tracks....

I agree completely (though I discovered them, fortunately, during lockdown).
I already listened to this 4 times in 15 hours. Kinda feel like replaying it all over again.
I saw them last night and it was the best concert of my life, well rehearsed, lights on point, perfect voice and sound quality, perfect attitude. Hope they never lose that scenic presence. Mind you, I work in the concert biz and can say it was the best experience I've had.

Their music is delight. Even more, the 'technical' skill of this group is extraordinary. The ability to create the variety of sounds they use, and fit them together perfectly, is the talent of Mozart, Beethovan, Chopin, Gershwin. Imagine trying to keep track, in your mind, of the sounds of 80 instruments at once. Then write the notes for every one. These geniuses are doing exactly that, AND creating the sounds for each of them on top of it. FANTASTIC!!!

I'm from Mexico, this music is really nice, I saw them in the festival CEREMONIA in Mexico City and really was AMAIZING!

I don't actually know how many times I've listened to this at this point. Superb performance, and perfect location! I really hope to see them come to more places in the US in the future, as a resident of Kansas City I very rarely get to see my favorite artists live. Traveling 8+ hours for every concert just isn't feasible for me unfortunately, so I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope for the best!

I first found L'imperatrice through a song called "Le Baron Rouge" on their first EP. I loved the sound of it. However I didn't become a true fan until early this year when they released "Peur de filles" (I didn't know Matahari existed at the time) I heard Flore for the first time on that track, and absolutely adored her voice. The band feels truly complete now. I am so happy to see all of them finding the success they deserve. L'imperatrice is for certain one of the greatest bands out there right now, and I hope we get to see a lot more of their work in the future. 👑

listening non-stop. L'imperatrice still manages to be amazing whether they're in the studio or performing live. the quality and passion they bring to each song is beyond mind-blowing

Tout est parfait: les costumes sont juste géniaux, entre uniforme chic retro il y a une vibe retro futuriste de séries des années 50.
L'album en soit est juste génial, c'est groovy, funky (bigup au bassiste), et surtout cette voix crystaline de Flore qui ajoute une telle hauteur au truc. Mais ce que je kiffe par dessus tout c'est la sinergie entre les membres du groupe, on sent tellement qu'ils kiffent ce qu'ils font, particulièrement pendant les petits jams funks, c'est tellement kiffant à voir !!!
