I spent 8 months with anyrail, and my final plan came down to a simple two station single track design with my must have shunting options. You did a lot more with it than I did. What I would suggest is that you turn part of your fiddle-yard into part scenic, where you have the through lines make them a cutting with retaining walls facing, and then have the front of these a marshalling-yard which you can then make scenic. On top of the hidden tracks create a lift-out scenic board and I'd suggest a small village/town scene
Hi Dave followed you for a good while.I’ve just pulled my layout down it was 12x10.now extending it to 18ft x8.so far I’ve spent 6 months planning it. As winter is only a few weeks away.i may have to leave construction of my new room until spring.
You should Paint a light blue stripe to replace the red stripe on the NSE coach. Recreate the 90s Regional Railways North Wales and North West loco hauled services when they acquired a few NSE coaches. You already have the 47s and 37s, so it will not look out of place.
Ayup. Tis lookinglike a real project. Looking forward to coming along for the ride.. Oooh you do know how to tickle,, Starts off with a few 37's IN A ROW!! I mean who could resist. will power were gone from then on.
Belting video. It's good to see all the plans and hear your musings. All good ideas, too. Definitely don't get too hung up on the dimensions side of things. You'll make things fit with an open room to plan around. If you spend too long, you'll be against your own ideas and do nothing. I've been there, pal, and probably still am. All the best. Cheers for another video.
Get the shed built Dave and then you’ll have your floor space to work off. I would definitely keep your bridge over your two main lines, really impressed with your anyrail skills. Great video!
it may be a good idea to do a search on walk in fridges. I had one many years ago and it was the cheapest portable building i ever bought. Amazing level of insulation, ridiculously quiet and stable for temperature. When the compressor part fails and they get a bit old they are basically condemned and being expanded foam they cost a fortune to get rid of. They make incredible rooms and the only downside is they don't come with a floor, so you'll have to put a concrete slab down to plonk it on.
@doubleodave mum's the word Dave, I know nothing. But if I did, I'd say it was a good plan. Oh, if my grandson's next video goes to plan, I'm sure you'll like it 😁👍
New layout will look awesome with those long lengths of track opening up great sweeping shots. I have reached the same point where I realised as I always knew I would, that my present 3 metre end to end layout is to small. But I have nowhere to go at present. So very excited about your project and to see how you get on.
A real shame about that Lady Spencer mate, honestly would see if Bachmann would send you a replacement part, or even body for it? Loving the new plan, definitely think your yard on ground level is the way to go. Also, super clever use of your programming track on the top there 👊 great update Davey
Problem is mate I can’t even be arsed contacting them about it, Ken Bachmann’s got a massive temper and I don’t want to get on his bad side! I’ll glue it one day 👍
Well done for cracking on with plan, I can’t get away with computer planning things. Paper, pencil, rubber I can manage 🤣 Doing shed next is probably a good thing, the plan will be going round in your head while you build shed and you might have some more ideas, but looks like you have broken back of it anyway. I was always after long straights through a rural scene, it’s just nice to watch trains pass through. Tiny dab of superglue on a pin and Lady Di will be good as new 👍 Oh the track cleaning thing on a stick thing has a a proper name. ‘Track cleaner on end of a stick’ I can sell you a stick, but as it’s a proper model railway stick it’s overpriced, ordinary sticks don’t work. 👍
@@doubleodave obviously you need to pre-order the sticks. Although, anymore of that cake going and I could let you have some of the ‘development sticks’ 😉
That’s the plan mate, my mrs keeps asking too many details about it so I’ll just have to blast it up as fast as I can before she can say “you’re not doing that!”
@@doubleodave At the end of the day you've got to be pleased with the build plans otherwise what's the point 😁. I ordered some more little things that have been turning up for mine, got about 15 point and 55 yards of track (I thought more) a bridge etc. I'm going to make a little drs yard more of a diorama (as I've gone off the era already, need 60s to 70s) with automated locomotives leaving sheds and stopping for diesel and going back with a shed at each end just to iron out the pit falls in my handy work first. There's no one doing really anything interesting with DC powered locomotives and automation on RUclips like 1950's technology, it's a good job I'm a robot technician well programmer there's a lot of wiring on the robot heads, anyway I don't want to give the game away incase I do a video on it. If I do fancy operating them by hand I'm thinking I'll just get a HM7000 (mainly for sound) and a WiFi relay board x16, both should run the hole layout with my phone with DC locos but that will probably be for a larger layout, if you've got any suggestions let me know. Just need to find my soldering iron and I'm off to the races mate.
That sounds great, only advice I can give is don’t forget what happened in that will smith film when all the robots turned into baddies! 😱 On a more serious note you should film it and get it on RUclips 👍
@@doubleodave I did work at a place where a guy on the opposite shift got his back broke or badly injured around 20+ years ago, so you do have to be careful I suppose if you go near them when on auto. Anyway something bugging me (whilst on fish plate salvage) that locomotive of yours with the broke hand rail, it looked on camera the left side window was broken closest to the broken hand rail, is it just the camera or is it broke to, either way just saying case you missed it.
I’ll be honest I’m so bad at planning stuff I really need to look at when the next decent show is and plan for it then I can make excuses and stay at home sitting on the sofa supping mugs of tea and playing on anyrail!
I’m too much invested into the OO game now mate, plus I couldn’t do N it’s just too small for me to work with, TT more realistic but I like the OO I like big if I had the space and funds I’d go O 😃
I had a buffer missing from one of the 3 Accurascale class 37s I bought from TMC.. It wasnt easy trying to source a replacement buffer from Accurascale, having to scan receipts ( i had to do that at work) and then having to wait nearly 2 weeks until they got one in and had to glue it myself. Not great in my opinion.
Hi Dave I think I will this year I was doing a charity walk . I went last year and it was crazy rammed but I think it was down to Pete Waterman’s extra big layout this year seemed quieter.
Yes just build the shed, sort out the rest once you’ve finished it. Will we still get the nonsense at liberty junction 2 or will that be on original liberty only?. It’s part of your repertoire now, so you can’t drop it or the rivet counters will start to multiply like cockroaches under your rolling stock. Worth waiting 2 weeks…. I wait 2 weeks for a dose of Charlie 😂
Hi, great video catch up, Bachmann’s packaging is very poor compared to other manufacturers, Heljans puts Bachmann’s to shame and with the price Bachmann want for their items is not good at all, bits and pieces fall off unfortunately but it’s up to you what you do about it, fix or send back? I’ve never had any issues with bits falling of my Bachmann purchases to date, I’ve picked up my Accurascale class 37 and broke a bit off, Accurascale sent me a new bit within a few days, great running session Dave, unfortunately I’m not into weathered models but hey if it floats your boat then fair play, if your interested there’s a set of 8 Bachmann unweathered auto ballaster flat top wagons on DreamBay for £700! Some sellers are smoking some serious stuff to put those kind of prices on items like that, a set of 3 of the same wagons went for £180 a few days before, all 00 gauge, thanks for sharing.
Ah man I was wanting 8 autoballasters for £1500 so they’re no good at that comedy price 🤭 I’ve never had issue before - it was £140 in the sale so possibly was broke in the shop hence the price - not that they said that. I’ll glue it one day
……Missed this video, so I’m late to the party! Very interesting plans for LJ2, I wish I could plan stuff out like that. It’s all “back of a fag packet” designs here at CJ.😆 Having a garden room (that’s what was called a shed once upon a time) should be fantastic compared to having the layout in the loft, if I could start again I’d have velux windows & a proper room conversion done, no more spiders & wasps buzzing around the place… Looking forward to seeing this all develop. Bloody hell John B - how come your names changed? To be fair LJ in the very small loft that it’s in is at the end of its limits for me now. I can either go over it all improving it a bit at a time or build something massive and new 😁 the loft conversion I did was very much a bodge job it’s fully sealed to the point where there’s no ventilation so if I have a brew up there, a few days later there’s pools of water in the floor from the steam so basically I can’t have a brew up there and believe me, I love drinking tea. Probably as much as Santa like Mince Pies! You going to the NEC?
@@doubleodave - Yeah that’s my non railway account, I use that to comment on football n stuff like that, where being a railway modeller could/would be embarrassing! It’s not cool to outsiders is it? I’d try and glue that front handrail pal, they are fragile at best of times and trying to remove it will probably destroy it 😂 Looking forward to you eventually starting the new layout 👍
Technically cutting those branches off that tree is starting it - I need some glue as I’ve ran out but yeah I’ll sort it. There’s no decoder in it at the minute so it’s not going anywhere 🙃
