Ben& ben issued a statement condeming police brutality when a policeman killed a mother and son over a heated aurgument. They said during an interview that they are just discussing the rap part with SB19 and after a few moments Pablo already has written their rap part and each member of SB19 already know which part is theirs.
the song was written when a police heartlessly shot his neighbor (a mother and son) over a heated argument, in front of his little girl too who was also in arguement with those two. a video was taken during that incident. but this song is definitely not just about that police brutality incident but also about those who hold power and abuse them for their own good.
It's definitely about bad governance. The police brutality incident itself laid to question the Duterte government's tendency to over-police as a matter of state policy; using police/military force to pursue perceived enemies of the state like drug addicts, communists and terrorists but end up abusing mostly poor innocent civilians and political dissenters, with little to none regard for human rights. Also the massive corruption scandals that rocked the administration pre-/mid-pandemic. The song is so relevant to the upcoming elections, in which we are seeing the same greedy, corrupt politicians running again for high office and inundating social media with their lies, historical revisionism and propaganda. "Kapangyarihan" reminds us that power belongs to the people, and when woke to truth and justice, people become truly empowered.
Thanks for your reaction video as always, Zenith. Yes, you are right. Ben&Ben’s verse talk about an incident happened in the Philippines where in a police officer shot a mom and son caught on cam. That’s why the lines “magsisilbi ka dapat” (you should serve the people). About the rap verses of SB19, yes, it was Pablo. He wrote all those in just an hour and they all recorded it within 2 hrs so they can still bond with Ben&Ben. :) By the way, please don’t forget to check the live performance of SB19’s Mana in RUclips Fanfest 2021 where they also performed Bazinga with AC Bonifacio. :)
At the time when most celebrities/artists/musicians shy away from politics due to fear of backlash, Ben & Ben and SB19 did not even flinch nor stutter when they delivered this song... "Nagsisilbi ka dapat!" [Rough trans: You (people in power/authority) should be the one serving us!]
A protest song indeed. So many woke artists in the phil, mostly into alternative music. But ben&ben and sb19 are.among a few mainstream artists who bravely took a stand thru their music. In a live performance of this song in the recent ben&ben online concert, leader Pablo of sb19 raised a clenched fist to punctuate their rap parts.
This song "Kapangyarihan" (Power) was launched in time for the upcoming 2022 National and Local elections in the Philippines. This is a song to demand accountability from the who govern and to remind the politicians that the power emanates from the people. You are in point in your analysis/comment
KAPANGYARIHAN is a song for the government officials/politicians specially those corrupt people. This is a perfect song this coming 2022 Presidential election in the PH. I hope TV stations even radio stations would always play this song specially this election campaign period. 😆
The original song, without the SB19 rap, was written to refer to a specific police brutality incident....but has since been used for other occasions/ incidents as you've mentioned.
oh my you're gonna study our language that's the effort love it Still hoping for you to check out SB19 " FULL BYE 2020 PERFORMANCE" I swear talaga you'll definitely love it.
KAPANGYARIHAN is also my favorite SB19 and BEN&BEN collab. ❤️ Ben&Ben’s songs are great, too. The messages of their songs are deep, realistic, incredible! Try to react to their song *”LEAVES”.* One of my fave songs from them. ☺️
you're Filipino is getting good. haha... the last three syllables became more Indian for some reason hehehe... 😁 also, shout out to the people who comment and help/guide ZD in getting to know the boys
I knew you would love this song... as I did.. though I am a fan of SB19 and Ben&Ben... I was leaning more towards heavy rock/ metal. And thisi song gives just that. More power to you and your channel. Stay healthy! 💙
Thanks for this! So many SB19 reaction videos and I'm not complaining! Hehehe. 🔥 Fun fact: according to Ben and Ben, Pablo wrote their rap/parts/lines within just a few hours. Hehe like they just went on break and after that the lines are done already. Hehe. Here's a clip from Ben and Ben's recent concert and SB19 performed this song: ruclips.net/video/wYk7B-n3H2I/видео.html
I read from some fans that this song was written after an incident of a police officer convicted for killing his neighbors during a heated argument. But this also applies to politicians/ or anyone who abuse their power. Thanks for this reaction!
Brooo!!!! Brooo!! It really really 🔥🙀🙀. He like Ez mil , his flow his beat so f***king 🔥🔥🔥, plz reaction on VANNDA , his song " Khmer blood , I see a lot UK and US reaction but really want to see your reaction 🔥🔥 🙀🙀
Yes definitely it is a political song of contemporary PH... government abuses... it was released after a policeman cold shot killed both mother and son caught in camera... and went viral... of course as u said, the song could be used in broader context
Yes...Pablo definitely write that. He said it in one interview that he wrote it for about 30 minutes because they have to record this immediately. So this is a PABLO's freestyle writing.
Kapangyarihan is heavily political. December of 2020 when a police officer shot a mother and her son in front of a lot of people. This song condemns that specific act, though the lyrics also point to the extra-judicial killings that has been happening. (I remember in one of your reactions when you said you've been hearing negative stuff about the Philippines, so I assume those killings were part of that.). The song directly condemns those who are supposed to serve the people, but shamelessly abuse their "kapangyarihan" (power).
Could I request 3019 by Dilaw? It is also a song but in a rap kind of style. And it also talks about corruption in the Philippines 😁 I really love that you are trying so hard to understand the meaning of the song and not only reacting to the music 🤩. You just earned a sub! ☺️
Try to react to *GLOC 9,* a Filipino rapper. His songs are good, as well, specially those songs that are like this. Pertaining to the kind of government officials we have in the country.
Subcribed because you always react to my boys SB19. Hey, this is more of a political song saying that the govt should serve its people and not be corrupt.

I believe it only took two hours for SB19 to write and record their part (rap verses + melodic singing part of Stell).
the song was written when a police heartlessly shot his neighbor (a mother and son) over a heated argument, in front of his little girl too who was also in arguement with those two. a video was taken during that incident.

Couldn't have explained it better!

Its some form of low key protest to deliquent politicians… just in time for elections in the Philippines.
Well start from the tip of the iceberg… the current president Duterte.
