The reason there's no mention of her appearance in game or anything like that, is because it never, ever was intended to be about that. The internet turned it into a giant culture war issues, on both sides. The director was asked about it in an interview and he was honest and just said he likes looking at attractive women. There was 5000% more self victimizing whinging about imagined outrage than there was the most tepid criticism about the character design, with the majority of the latter only coming in response to the forced, fake enthusiasm and implication that having a womans defined arse in a game was breaking new ground. That's a function of video editing: You are seeing the special move in a quick loop, according to everything i've seen it's not like that when you play.

I have a ps5 and a pc rig and I'm still hesitant. Ps5 is so underpowered, 70 bucks for a console experince, barely hitting 60 fps, with the equivalent of low graphics... it's a hard sell

Even from 5 years ago from the early trailer you can see how massive is the nier automata influence on this game and the creator said taxi driver protest as the main inspiration when the game near completed, always curious why koreans is very difficult on giving credits to japanese, especially on entertainment culture part, yoko taro is simply too generous, supportive and humble on the interview 🤣🤣🤣

Hopefully there is a PC release, I think this looks great. Awesome for a Korean made game to get this attention so shoutout to the devs.
Also worth noting when some journos got weird about about the protag, I thought to myself "She looks like a (normal yet attractive ) Korean woman" and go figure they modeled her after one lol. Plus they walk a good line it seems for fan service, pushing a badass woman lead, and not going overboard where her chest shakes halfway across the screen every scene change. Its hard cuz games where theres zero body liquidity also make females look super weird, especially in more modern graphics engines/otherwise realistic depictions. Like their body is made of stone or they have weird shaped pecs lmao.

Fr. I can contest that I also perceive every Korean woman that I've ever seen to look exactly like the game's protag. This is very normal, and jiggle physics should be a larger priority -- my wife's boyfriend also agrees.

How women look in video games seems to be a touchy subject at the moment. I can see the argument for both sides. I see why some people are really rallying behind having less conventionally attractive or "realistic" characters in their media. Personally, as a woman, I don't see the benefit of self-inserting *all* of the time, and there's no need to erase attractive-looking characters just to make us normies feel better. Sometimes I want to play a video game as a beautiful, 9ft tall leggy supermodel with huge bazongas.
There are some really amazing female character designs that can also be sexy. Look at Bayonetta. She is absolutely badass. I did genuinely buy a lot of games purely based on how the character looked back in the day, including Bullet Witch and Bloodrayne. Or chose my favourite fighters like Ivy from Soul Calibur and Sindel from Mortal Kombat

great game. Loved it so much. Also, I really enjoyed playing it with Korean Voice over which was also in trailers for first few years. It seems like an original intended language.

I can't remember 2B being that controversial and it also helped that Nier was SSS tier while Stelar is above average

As someone who's played Vermintide, Darktide, Left 4 Dead 2, World War Z, Helldivers 2, Deep Rock Galactic, Killing Floor 2, Zombie Army, a bunch of CoD Nazi Zombies, Payday 2, and plenty more, there's a lot of good fun and decent skilled nuance to be had in Helldivers, especially compared to a few of the options I listed out.

I hope they make a PC port of this game. Badass attractive female protag, South Korean at that, action game with RPG stuff, great visuals, its right up my alley. Plus while they have fan service it isnt weird over the top like some games imo. As soon as I saw a couple other nameless journos complaining about her design i thought "She looks like a normal yet attractive South Korea woman" and turns out lol. Idk i think its positive to have the representation both of Korea and women, shes a bad ass and they didnt make her chest bounce across half the screen every scene change which is a plus lol. (Tho games theyve tried to remove any body liquidity altogether also look super weird with females too)

You mean Ninja Gaiden like since the original came far before dark souls, it was on the OG Xbox and pioneered the dodge/ block and counter attack mechanics.
Not really, you rarely need to block and you'll never need to counter in Ninja Gaiden, dodging is the one thing that's important.
