Ah... I think DUST has uploaded this without the title "Throwback Thursday" as 1) it's Thursday, and 2) it came out in 2015.
I was going to say I've seen it before and honestly I thought I saw it on DUST but apparently not I guess lol.
Someone probably realised that it decreased views.
Remember seeing this a few years ago and if it was 201t, then believe it.
Had me a bit puzzled too, so read the comments, it's been re-uploaded then!!
First I feel sorry for him, then annoyed by him, then respectful of him. Insane quality here. A whole movie could follow. Gotta love it.
I didn't respect the character at all. He reacted to something different with brutality and death and his reaction of "no one messes with Wong" just came back to him to haunt him. He messed with visitors, killing them and so they meeted out punishment. Based upon the size of the first one, he killed a child, and then the parent...and then.. Lesson learned is always to be pleasant to the tourists.
@@hilaryc3203 Exactly, disrespectful and angry to his friendly workmates, but sucking up to a bully boss, deciding to continue killing intelligent creatures (squid) because his father and grandfather did, when (by the sounds of it) tourism would have been just as successful, and finally, as you say, brutality towards something he did not understand.
A depressing, barely science fiction, waste of time.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I already saw this minifilm a year ago.
I thought exact thing
you're def not wrong. This is an old vid that got re-uploaded
Yep... it's from 2015
Re-upload?
Nope, we've seen this one already.
A dark spin on the Old Man and the Sea. Very intriguing. I liked the opening shots and how the story intro was laid out. His imagining of posing on the pier with his little catch was so hilarious. And then, the fisherman encounters the alien creature . . .
👏👏I thougt the same, but I didnt expect the end 😳😳
thats exactly what i thought !
Well, at least he can delay the boat rent again...
A wonderful story of the sea. Very emotive and well acted!
As a fisherman myself i can relate to his struggle to land the big one , seems he did just that & there's always a price to pay . I loved his nasty tenacity & though i love to fish i hope to never catch that thing . Great short , writing & acting & what fine camerawork as well. 10 out of 10 !!!!
I always come back to see this short. The storytelling is so good. And the casting, the main actor is very expressive. I would like to see the making of. How a spanish director end making a Honkong short?
Oh yeah, this is what I'm talking about! Somebody understands the essentials of great Cinema. This has all the elements! Quite an enjoyable short. Just about perfect from start to finish. Congratulations!
Yeah! this is one of my favorite shorts of Dust. It is just so fulfilling!
Wish that was longer !!! Cheers Dust I rearly enjoyed this one !! Well done to who made this !! THANKS
Almeno per spiegare il finale: s me sembra interrotto a casaccio.
I had to wade through about thirty consecutive pieces of garbage, but if you persist hard enough on DUST you'll eventually find a diamond in the rough. This one was excellent!
That should turn into a full movie. Excellent !
But everyone dies after this.
definitely !! but they didn't write the name of the alien in the cast...😂😂
On SYFY Right after Sharknado! 🥴
The song playing at 1:15 in the video, I believe to be the original "Wandering Songstress" by Zhou Xuan, one of my favorite Chinese songs.
We had fish tanks when I was growing up.
I couldn't help but notice the similarity between;
Fish food I put in the tank,
all floating at the top.
And
Us on the ocean,
all floating at the top.
It just creeps me out, I really don't like boating over the deep.
I know what you mean. You never know what you might find...
Or...
What might find YOU!!!
Well then, have fun as "Ryley Robinson," Non-Essential Systems Maintenance Chief on the Alterra capital ship "Aurora." Your shi will do a gravity-assisted turn around the unexplored ocean planet, 4536B to build a Phase Gate. What could go wrong in that relaxing, once-in-a-lifetime game, "Subnatuica"?;)
I don't remember the first time I watched this one, but it was many years ago. It was great to see it again. When did it first come out?
2015 I think
That was really good, how can you not love such a classic genre.
No one messes with Wong. Not even Cthulhu.
🤣
I have read many books that theorised Cthulhu rising from the oceans around 2027.
Fantastic!! So worth revisiting this film! Kudos. 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️
Andrew Ng is perfectly cast as the fisherman. Scenery and soundtrack fit perfectly. Very believable special effects. I have watched this film several times and never get tired of it.
Puoi spiegarmi cosa succede alla fine? Che senso ha quel finale?
Alien invasion, mr wong wonders how he will battle. Be careful what you wish for? His dry spell of squid turned into a massive abundance of whatever those things were. That is what i got out of it.
So here's my theory, and I'd *love* to hear y'all's takes or notes on it if any: These aliens, whom I'll nickname "Karvinores," are from a planet that's solely aquatic, but if they wish, they can travel between planets through what appear to be storms. I assume they're a highly spiritual and intelligent race that can channel these supernatural storms to their whim, letting them travel anywhere they please if they don't feel like swimming. I *also* presume that their initial intentions were to check out Earth and see if its oceans were nice enough to hang out in possibly because their own planet was getting a little too crummy for their tastes. However, because Wong mutilated that little one, the baby would tell the adult, which I assume was its parent or superior, and I guess the baby saw the whole thing. So after realizing this man and the rest of his species is a threat, the baby Karvinore would tell all the others, hence the onslaught on the city, so now I guess they'll do a full-scale invasion and take it for themselves. Of course my analysis is a bit half-baked IMHO, but I'd be happy to hear what you guys think.
Esta Película es Simplemente Extraordinaria.
Just a question to everyone: Is it more common in movies, that they are sub or dub, if filmed in a different language to yours? In Germany dubs are almost always chosen. That's why I can't read subs that fast.
At least my english is decent enough to watch everything in english- wich I prefer to german anyway.
Dang!
The final twist was awesome
Now Wong should start a resistance movement and kick some squid butt
Prequel to Doom: Hong Kong.
How wong became the Doom guy of the Orient
Old Wong and the sea I like it.
No one messes with Wong
I usually skip the captioned movies a minute in because they give me a slight temple headache but the actor set a great atmosphere that kept me glued so the temple pain was worth it.
Attack of the ET squids! I recall having seen this some time ago, but still worth watching. The acting of the fisherman character was perfect, great story.
Great story from start to finish!
Fantastic photography!
🛸🪝🐙🪝🛸
to dark...😮💨
This would make an awesome full length movie. A creature feature film with a new look for the creature.
No one messes with wong!
@Dust The part with the synopsis and credits is missing.
Wong had enough
El Viejo y El Mar, versión calamar :)
Been a while since seeing this short and this is a repost, or YT is messing with me...even so, happy this has popped up again.
This short doesn't get old and is made with excellent production values, more people should this this....love it!
Ahhh, thanks!
Never saw it, so I'm good.
thought the same dude
@@bloggerty-schmoo2698 And DUST since 2017 (see my post above)☺
i felt the same way, and you are correct.
I've watched this a few times over the years.
This originally came out in 2015 for anyone wondering how I could've watched it for years when it was only uploaded a year ago.
A desperate man making a living by killing, angry towards those kind to him, his friendly workmates, sycophantic to his landlord, (assuming he also lived on the boat) and finally brutal to what could have been in the least a rare and unique species. Sad, depressing and with no redeeming message.
I like to come back and watch this one every once in a while. It never gets old.🎣
People shouldn't have to change, just because greedy industry wants to change the world only for the betterment of themselves.
I think that at the end, the burning buildings were a bit silly, and if they just cropped that out, it would have been better.
Nevertheless, this was really fun and interesting to watch, and I really enjoyed it.
i watched a series called Invasion it's at least 10 yo if not 15..identical theme..aliens from a water planet invaded earth and they were slowly replacing the human dna with their own..
It's great except you put the creature in the thumbnail, which kinda spoils it.
I feel sorry for Hong Kong. Beautiful film, but the Communists stole their chance to live free.
The squid found itself in the Wong time at the Wong place
Aliens litterally fucked with the WONG guy!
Congrats! Really fast and kind of furious movie))
An exciting Sci-Fi movie. The best yet from DUST. Hands down. Thtanks.
Ooops did he just accidentally start a war with the deep ones ?
just when i was about tired of the plot it twists into something interesting
Lovecraftian by way of Hemingway.
Very well done. I enjoyed every minute.
Aliens has invaded in a wong time and in a wong place.
its so easily killed, why didn't the army beat them back
Like 2btpatch said down below, I agree. Great dark spin on Old Man and the Sea book. Thank you Dust!
Wow! Worth watching in full-screen!
Great story and characterisation!
Nice monsters!
Geez, how bad can your luck get!?
I don't normally do horror, but I think this was more action Thriller. I enjoyed it. Thank you!
He character feel much bored
Yes! Been looking for this. for a while
Everything happened to Wong that day!
goood and amazing storytelling
This isn't a new one. This is at least a few years old.
Wong's cantonese sounds forced.
Buen trabajo 👍 al principio me recordó al "el viejo y el mar", no esperaba este final, 😳😳😍👏👏
No Closed Captioning
Bye
Mornin', nice day for fishin', ain't it?
A fisherman's wife is a hard life...
That looks like ... 🌮
香港人笑了,要不是我看过原片差点就被你骗了,美人鱼报恩。
A second time upload?
Is this a repost? It feels too familiar
Great short. 👍🏾👍🏾
Somewhere,sometimes...
sequel to life anyone?
We're gonna need a bigger boat!
What a roller coaster
Always excellent productions from Dust!
Likely they have just been recycling older videos for the last year or two. That’s why they started doing readings b/c they have nothing new to offer.
Dust doesn't make these. They just post others work. Dust does pick which ones they want though.
amazong movies.
That escalated quickly!
The amount of people that don't understand the concept of "Throwback Thursday" is baffling..
Yes, you might have seen it before. That's the point of throwback thursday
Wow. Dis was a good one!!
Great video
✌️
Pretty good.
fucking amazing. wish it was longer.
И что это? Перезалив???
nope
Wow!
I remember seeing this some time ago. The hard luck fisherman finally hooks into something Big, but, like his Disco-dancing rivals, "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue."
I thought it was creepy but I like unfinished stories Paul goldston
i remember watching these vlogs months ago . why dust re-uploading its old vlogs ?
Primitive modern and future all rolled into one All equal. I don't have the words! I hope you understand. Thank you.
This was the first video I watched on 'Dust'.
Me too!😆
Congratulations. Excellent story, intriguing and thrilling. An open door to an entire saga. Fantastic.
• Felicitaciones. Excelente historia, intrigante y emocionante. Una puerta abierta a toda una saga. Fantástico.
How fitting that this landed on my feed while I'm in HK.
aw heck no im at 0:36 and already this is giving me subnautica vibes
Can someone pls share the link of the song playing in the sony radio? during opening credits..
Excellent colour grading, outstanding production values. Look forward to more.
