I’m waiting for Catholic friend to give me a call to ask me on a blind date. We have been introduced by a communal friend who was working as a supply RE teacher in his school. She has been very honest with me about his gambling “addiction” although he doesn’t put much on. He does sound really nice and leads masses in school and goes to Lourdes every year but nobody’s perfect. He does sound more genuine than people I’ve been talking to on a Christian dating website who have been upsetting me when they only wanted to talk about sex. 6 weeks ago my friend gave me my number on a piece of paper and my friend texted his boss with my number in case he’d lost it. His dog has been very ill with a tumour. He has been busy with the end of term so it was likely it would be the summer holidays when he’d ring me. He had agreed with my friend that he would like to meet me for coffee to get to know each other to develop a solid friendship. That’s all what I want although I do want a husband. I’m sure we will have lots to talk about and have a lot in common because my mum was a lot more Anglo Catholic than my dad is. All I want initially is to get to know him by falling in love with Jesus. And whenever I think about him ringing and meeting him, it brings a smile to my face. Can you give me any advice?
If someone talks to you about sex when they first meeting you or in the beginning of dating they are interested in sex not a relationship. I'm sorry that's happening to you. It can be very discouraging. But do not believe all men are like that. There are good men out there. I recommend getting involved in Catholic volunteer opportunities with a cause you are passionate about. I also recommend getting involved in Catholic young adult groups. Those are great places to meet like minded people. Even if you don't meet a guy at either of those places you are going to be surrounding yourself with people who might know someone with similar morals. Praying for your continued discernment.
