QC Problems with the Dan Wesson DWX Compact Safety?

- The thumb safety on my new Dan Wesson DWX took less than one pound of pressure to go off-safe. I fixed it, but was that a quality control issue at the factory?

I replaced my safety straight away and fitted the larger full size safety. Ended up like yours with too little resistance to disengage. I simply cut a small section of an appropriate size hex key and inserted it behind the spring.
That's one quick solution. Thanks for watching.
Glad you worked in the safety to your liking. For sure I appreciate the I’ll do it myself 👍
A few minutes to fix it myself beats sending it back. Unfortunately, it's probably going back to correct the self-adjusting front sight. Thanks for watching.
@@RidersRange First my extractor pin what's to leave its home. Then my front sight wants to run away.
And now I have a automatic safty that tells me when it's going to work. Covid really did a number on DW QC!
Thanks for the great review and advise

Great info, thanks

Anybody else having an issue where the safety will engage when firing? I've been told twice now that it is the way I'm holding the pistol, and that I need to "ride the safety with my thumb like a gas pedal", but this is unnatural for me. Love the pistol, but I really need to troubleshoot a solution for this safety problem. If I don't "ride the safety" it malfunctions every single shot.
I'd like to say that there is another option, but with any 1911/2011-style pistol - or any gun that has a manual safety and is carried in "condition one" - you do need to "ride the safety". You need to train, not until you get it right, but until you can't get it wrong, to thumb the safety off when coming up on target, riding the safety while shooting, and thumbing the safety back on when returning to the holster.
Same issue
Now it's three times you've been told. The problem is your grip, not the pistol. Ride the safety with your thumb as you should.
@@onegudman7 Dumped the BROKEN DWX for the Staccato C where, guess what? I don't have to manually hold down the slide safety! Guess that's what the extra $900 of quality buys you. Also, question: If forced to fire the pistol left handed, how should one hold down the right hand only manual safety? I'll wait, smug douche.
Yes,, had the same issue. Also have the full size and the front sight fell out of the gun, they can't fix it unless they replace the entire slide. QC is not good. I've had problems with other Dan Wesson products
This is the second DW pistol that I've had problems with. (See part 14 of my Great Affordable 1911 Series.) Looks like this is headed back to the mother ship. Thanks for watching.
Just had this happen to my full size DWX.
@@johnbuntin7188 is your gun the non optic ready version?
@@DaveandDebe yes sir.
@@johnbuntin7188 ok, so unfortunately for us all the Known problems with the non optic ready versions(which have been discontinued) have been "fixed" in the optic ready version. We got too excited and bought too early. Lol,,, I did shoot one of the new optic ready full size and the trigger was so bad it sent cringe waves down my spine. I am really getting sick of paying over $2,000 for a gun and then having to redo the trigger.
I want to carry this gun. But my safty is also to light. What Excatly do I need to order ? Plunger from a DW Guardian? Thanks for another great video.
Try a standard 1911 plunger kit from Wilson Combat.
@@RidersRange Thank you sir.
shame
I agree.
Good information. Thanks for the video
