Agreed, everything outside Star Wars Daisy Ridley has been starring in either didn't do that well or downright flopped. So her only claim to (relative) success is the Disney Star Wars trilogy. She also knows who pays her salary (Disney) and that she has to sing their tunes. Ridley at least attempts to put some nuance into her comments, but she's on a tightrope there.
Except it wasn't a success it hurt her career no one likes her because of that role...I said this would happen years ago. If your gonna represent woman and put them in a bad light what's the point? If your trying to empower woman make a good movie about a woman first not a shot one that makes her look bad ...
The irony is that the tides are turning. In a year or two it might be a liability to be an "outspoken feminist". Producers are starting to realize that the woke agenda is like toxic nuclear waste to making money.

don't forget one of the actress of that witch from the acolyte saying that "star wars has always been patriarchic" as if we didn't have leia, a literal princess, and padme, who was a queen, politician and member of the senate, BOTH of them with huge authority, maybe even more then some of the male characters. i mean hell, lucas literally planned to make leia supreme chancellor, if he didn't sell his work to disney. only for leia to be lowered down do the rank of a general in the sequels. and i could point out even more examples, (satine from clone wars, for one).
Good points...another example; the character of Lt. Ellen Ripley in Alien/Aliens was not written as a woman, but was played incredibly well & effectively by one (i.e.- Sigourney Weaver).
I think there was a quote where she said that 'mary sue' being gendered meant that it was innately a sexist insult, because there's definitely not a male version of it. There's no such phrase as Gary Stu or Marty Stu. Before the sequel trilogy, Mark Hamill was regarded as not a strong actor. There was a strain of thought that also suggested that Luke was a male adolescent power fantasy. However, Luke had to train, lost a hand due to not being up to the task initially. Rey bests a Sith pretty much immediately with no training. She masters existing force abilities immediately and pulls new force abilities out at will. She knows the mechanics of the Falcon better than the owner. If she doesn't know basics of what a mary sue is and doesn't know criticism levelled against the original franchise, then she's an idiot. Seriously, she's been operating in Star Wars for 10 years and during that time she hasn't done a single google search on the criticism of her character or noticed that she's a worse version of Luke, who the narrative ripped to shreds during her tenure.
This was fire! Thank you for keeping people informed. Hollywood does no favors for this generation of actors or talented people. A bunch of gas lighting!

NOT ONLY do they spout this SH!TE... But... They THEN hire a woman that... "Enjoys making men uncomfortable...." To direct a Star Wars movie... 'Abayed Chinup Annoyed' (or something like that.. 🤔 😎🇬🇧
She gets it. She's just following the script to keep the only job she'll ever have.
Facts lol
Except it wasn't a success it hurt her career no one likes her because of that role...I said this would happen years ago. If your gonna represent woman and put them in a bad light what's the point? If your trying to empower woman make a good movie about a woman first not a shot one that makes her look bad ...
She hasn't exactly displayed any great acting skills
The irony is that the tides are turning. In a year or two it might be a liability to be an "outspoken feminist". Producers are starting to realize that the woke agenda is like toxic nuclear waste to making money.
Funny how Natalie Portman was made fun of in Star Wars and Thor, But somehow won a Best Actress Award in The Black Swan, And even as a child was Awesome in Léon (One of My top ten movies). Get a good script and watch these Ladies give you Gold. Get a Bad script and these Ladies call men toxic
Also toxic positivity Isn't a good thing
"Toxic positivity" is an oxymoron that just does not work.
@abrahambobst4602 Like hell it doesn't.
When agendas are being pushed and the powers that be make it illegal for anyone to criticize what's happening, "toxic positivity" is 100% a spot on accurate descriptor of the encroachment being conducted.
@abrahambobst4602 Oh my goodness, you're so super right! Gold star for you buckaroo🌟
@@abrahambobst4602 It does. And the fact I was censored for explaining why it does, proves that it does.
I did not edit my comments...
She's in Disney's pocket dude. She's gotta kiss the ring
This is interesting because I remember when she got interviewed in GMA, she actually avoided blaming the fans. I suspect our old friend KK told her, "enough with your neutral stance shit; you want to be in that new movie...you say what we tell you to say."
Their argument is, "If you're a man, and you don't hate yourself you are a misogynist."
Dang. Now Ridley's one of them now. In truth, I never watched a lot of her stuff. But I thought she was a decent person when compared to the likes of Rachel Ziegler or Amandla Stenberg.
I knew she woukd pull itcsoonercor later.
I despise her.
And here we are.
She has to parrot the approved narrative if she wants to stay in favor with her Hollywood masters. Not like she's going to get work through her acting abilities.
@@dermagnus8482 The vast majority of actors aren't smart people. They'd be doing something else if they were. Acting is actually tedious and boring work.
I feel like she was just told to say this. I remember her being pretty self-aware of how The Last Jedi was received, like she was embarassed by it as well.
She always HAS been? Have you been keeping up? Back as early as the Last Jedi when she called fans misogynistic for daring criticize Rey or call her a Mary Sue
“A lack of accountability”. The biggest blind spot of Disney.
The only thing I remember about Rey was that she was a Mary Sue in a few movies that basically wore the dead husk of Star Wars.
Blaming consumers for not liking your product is still the stupidest thing you can make when you're asking for money.
I'm an angry old dude. I love strong women. Kinda my kink.
I got nothing against Daisy, but she and the cast weren't given a good anything in that Star Wars cash grab.
They were sacrificed for people with agendas to get their message out to the masses that were promptly rejected.
You can't try to hijack established media and expected to carry you to success when it was done so poorly.
If you're an actor, just say "I did the best with what I was given and learned from it."
The fans will not hate you for that and, more often, then not support your next venture to see what you can do.
But I'm just a man with man parts that likes sci-fi and other nerdy things. 🤓
You said it best
^^^THIS!
True for that.
Read up on a gal named Mara.
Canons come and go. Legends are forever.
Exactly this. Boyega got screwed too and nobody held it against him. If anything ppl are sympathetic and want him to succeed. To get good roles in good movies, neither of which will happen with disney. Same for the other actors... that is until one starts mouthing off at SW fans for not liking this disney slop.
Spot on, Jay. So sick of the toxic DSW fans who view any criticism only through a filter of sexism, bigotry and/or non-inclusivity.
lol Star Wars fans hate women! Also Star Wars fans "WE WANT MARA JADE!"
Well not now because Disney would crap all over her!
I think Disney is hijacked by Communist people
@@Wraith3Snpr Exactly. Disney better not touch Mara Jade :-)
And Darth Talon...oh yeah!
They truly are exhausting.
don't forget one of the actress of that witch from the acolyte saying that "star wars has always been patriarchic" as if we didn't have leia, a literal princess, and padme, who was a queen, politician and member of the senate, BOTH of them with huge authority, maybe even more then some of the male characters. i mean hell, lucas literally planned to make leia supreme chancellor, if he didn't sell his work to disney. only for leia to be lowered down do the rank of a general in the sequels. and i could point out even more examples, (satine from clone wars, for one).
Disney: deletes Jiana Solo, Mara Jade, Winter, and more amazing female characters
Good points...another example; the character of Lt. Ellen Ripley in Alien/Aliens was not written as a woman, but was played incredibly well & effectively by one (i.e.- Sigourney Weaver).
It was really only a matter of time before she joined the fray and started insulting us with the rest of em
Can't bite the hand that feeds her.
She already did long before this.
@@animatedink2529 fr? When was it after the Last Jedi?
She was pretty likable off camera. Guess she didn't want to be anymore.
Her funeral. Not Ours. Time is our friend -Not Disney’s. One day another studio will aquire Star Wars and make NEW #7,8,9 films and KK will be just a mud pile of the past
4-word Hollywood mantra: humiliate or be humiliated.
Of course she did 🤦🏻♀️
Does this we are now allowed to say Daisy Ridley’s a bad actress?
@@deez3913 She's not though. She's genuinely really good. And I DID have respect for her as a person until this came up.
@@stormdoesgaming8919You haven’t been keeping up then. She’s attacked fans before, and was quite vocal during the year Last Jedi released
Luke, Leia, Obi-Wan, Han, Yoda, 3PO, R2!!!! Heck even Chewy, all had INCREDIBLE character - individual, interesting, UNIQUE and with their own personal growth and acrs, and portrayed with SO much heart and brilliance, Star Wars shone, and still does, for decade upon decade. The Story was so unique and engaging, It is NOT forgettable.
Rey is not only none comparable, she is a void when standing next to the afformentioned - THAT, is the problem.
they also had 1/2 decent actors acting the role. good actors can cover a variety of sins. but ridleys effort was wooden.
Or people in general not JUST Star Wars fans, hate bad writing in their beloved franchises.
Great video, absolutely agree with you! Appreciate the hard work you do on all your videos and this one gets straight to the BS and doesn't disappoint. Keep up the great work SnarkyJay!
Disney Starwars:
"Starwars fans hate women!"
Meanwhile, Starwars fans:
"WE WANT MARA JADE!!!"
Mara jade wouldn't be a main character tho lol
a Jade film would have been epic, think about it,a former Sith acolyte(yeah,l know)turning to Light Side and eventually marrying a Jedi 🤔
@@skepticalsmurf Yeah ! Mara was badazz. Also she is typical strong woman. But not for Disney. They need Rey instead of Mara.
I don’t know why people are screaming for Mara Jade. Disney would just ruin her
We wanted Mara Jade and Jiana Solo
Do we remember that she CHOKED JABBA WITH HER OWN CHAIN? Why does no one remember that integral moment?
I actually liked Daisy Ridley, but the fact that she's jumping on the attack the fans train with no logic made me dislike her now.
Me too.
It was a bad translation of an answer to a leading, weird questinn, imo. I know for a fact that Daisy loves and cares about Star Wars a lot.
@@thareelhelloagain I hope so, but I’ve been let down before.
I never like Daisy from start to finish
I’ve never felt less than or treated less than for being a woman. And I’ve never felt out of place in the Star Wars fandom or underrepresented in the Star Wars universe for being a woman. I loved Leia because she was so brave and confident, everything as an anxious little girl I wanted to be.
Let us not forget Jyn Orso from Rogue One, my favorite of the newest Star Wars movies.
I was about to say, nobody ever mentions Jyn.
Rogue One is a Star Wars movie with a female lead done right.
@@ElectricEliminator5 You are correct!
Where’s a link to the interview? I need to know the context she was referring to before your quoted statement
Jyn Erso by Felicity Jones was fantastic in Rogue One and was pretty much the central character. And it was in my opinion the best Disney Star Wars movie they have made.
Great video yet again. Very quickly becoming one of my fave YT channels Snarky Jay. You literally don't miss.
She clearly never wanted a successful acting career 😂
"Rey Skywalker," the last line spoken in the nine-movie Star Wars saga... Unforgivable. 🤢
My favorite female character is Mara Jade
Only a matter of time until Dave Filoni forces her into his heir to the empire movie and ruins her too. Theyll probably get Chappel Roan to play her lol
@@greenkidd529 well considering what they did to Luke, I don't think she really has a place in their destruction of Star Wars. I mean, they erased Han and Leia's other kids and renamed their one Ben, so ...
Impossible. You hate women because you watch Star Wars, so that can't be true.
Spot on. As always. Love ya. 💜 Take care.
Bummer! I liked Daisy..the person(not the character). Hate to see it! 😐
I like her still, man. Bad translation of an answer to a weird leading question. She cares a lot about star wars.
Thank you everything is true and I’ve been a comment with fence since I was seven years old 58 so yeah it’s nice to have somebody that gets it. By the way I love your show. Keep up the great work.
The whole production is a middle finger directed at the fans by the world's most dedicated misandrist, don't be surprised that they use every opportunity to bust upon them.
May 1977 was the day I turned from a young Puerto Rican boy into an Angry Old White Man lol
180 now huh? Must be residuals drying up🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The worst insult in the film was daring to give herself the Skywalker name....
Padme gets clawed
Disney: We need a strong female hero 😂
The problem we run into here is that we would need an actual human being to be able to write a human character.
I like Daisy, I like women. As a Star Wars fan, I hate a poorly written lore-breaking Star Wars Story. Now if the writers were thinking they could have made Rey, Luke, and Maras child. Rey could have been an awesome character and story with a simple change like that and a few more changes. No one at Lucas Films has any talent. We could have had some new lore and Rey may have been well received. and this simple change could have opened up the possibility for many new stories if it was successful.
Stop suggesting plot outlines that are better than any KK and modern Disney could come up with. They hate it when that happens.
08:06 - I see that scene of Yoda falling, and isntantly think...
RUclips - BLR/Bad Lip Reading - 'Seagulls' (Stop It Now)

I‘m so in love with what you said in your Video. It is on Point! Thank you for that!
i blame the interviewer more than her. the question was like "how did you feel about the violent hatred of rey?" and she answered as well as she could.
also the article was in french. i'd like to see exactly what she said instead of just the editor's translation
Yeah, with a proper translation she didn't really say anything bad.
Sounds like the handiwork of the woke mob media.
Omg, you're too amazing! Thank you for being honest and truthful.
This is really a drag.
Oh well, back to Legends continuity. 📖
Now Mara Jade and Jaina Solo? Those are some badass characters!
Thank you for this! I have a 15yo daughter who loves Star Wars. We watched the entire Clone Wars one summer and we both love Ahsoka, but we've given zero time to any of the new series D+ has put out.
Some people just never learn, and I’m going to say this too, there was more story with Finn being the Jedi.
I agree they definitely screwed that one up, I would have loved to see Finn be a bad ass Jedi.
I absolutely love this channel. Snarky Jay you are very talented & great at what you do. Keep up the great work 🃏
Snarky looks amazing today
Indeed, but then I've never seen her look anything less than amazing.
Her shirt is very retro. It looks like what every female victim in early 80s slasher movies wore. 😀
Another brilliantly fantastic video Snarkyjay ❤❤😁😁.
I’m a male Star Wars fan. Hating women is precisely the reason I subscribe to snarky J and like all her videos…😂
Keep spitting the truth Jay. Love the shirt. 👍

Uhhhhhh Rogue One?
Yup. Nobody had a problem with Jyn.
Kaitlin Olsen said it best when they said they didn’t know how to write women in its always Sunny. “Just write me as a character I’ll take care of being the woman part”
Well, I know which actress I'm going to be boycotting.
Not only are you spot on, a very engaging speaker, sound educated while maintaining a raw unfiltered edge, and a LUCUS era Star Wars fan,! You top it off by being a drop dead gorgeous bombshell!
Good Lord..
Snarky, it's not the fact that I care if a woman's in the lead there's plenty of series that have had women in leads over the years it's just you can't replace all the men with women and then expect everybody to think that's the way it's been from the beginning Star Wars and science fiction people like consistency in the genre..Daisy Ridley had never seen any Star Wars movies and didn't like science fiction so for her it was just a paycheck and if you didn't come watch her screw you very bad game plan.
That’s the last straw she has ever pulled with us starwars fans the day Star Wars was sold to Disney was the day StarWars Died!!😤😤😤
I was just praising Daisy a few weeks a few weeks ago because I thought she didn’t think like this. Smh
