What has he done for TN?
Though I have a great regard for Mr. Chidambaram , wondering why he ridiculed UPI payments and under estimated the growth of digital payments.
He did not ridicule UPI per se. He criticised the sudden implementation without adequate awareness and preparedness Public were asked to make payment by UPI payments at a time when most shops, traders and malls did not even have the facility. Thereafter RBI ensured currencies of small denomination was not in circulation and consumers were left with no other option but to resort to UPI payment. This was a sudden shock like demonitisation which always took place prior to 2016 but nobody suffered.
@@jacobcheriyan it was not implemented suddenly like EXIM scrips introduced by Govt of India while Mr. Chidambaram was commerce minister which failed miserably then. Mr. Chidambaram introduced EXIM scrips with good intention for the benefit of exporters but unfortunately several exporters misused it. However , I won’t hold Mr. Chidambaram responsible for the failure .
@@gopalakrishnand97, not every step taken by the government should work out well. EXIM scrips were not for common people. It's completely a different matter altogether. I as a common man have faced situations where UPI wasn't available with many vendors. Then when small denomination notes became scare, they enabled themselves for UPI. When a new system of payment is being introduced, it requires time for people to adapt. I don't think adequate planning and implementation were done.
Mistakes do happen. To my knowledge PC is open to criticism and many a time he's acknowledged shortcomings unlike the present administration that justifies every mistake and hide behind Nehru when things go wrong. How can any government be always right?
