WW2 Metal detecting a V2 Rocket factory - Austria-

- Опубликовано: 21 июл 2022
- One thing that has always intrigued me was the German V2 rocket (Vergeltungswaffe 2, 'Retaliation Weapon 2') Nazi Germany invented during World War 2. Although very inaccurate it sure was far ahead of it's time and struck fear into the people's hearts. Especially the British were suffering daily from the German attacks with these 'wunderwaffe' (Wonderweapon).
Nino, on of my Patrons, invited me to join him to come metal detecting at a site where, during the war, these v2-beasts were assembled. Remains of barracks, anti aircraft positions and the factory itself were clearly visible which I will show you in the video. Hope you will enjoy our adventure and would appreciate what you think of the video. Leave a comment!

FAQ:
-Do you report things found to the authorities?
Yes, all nasty things found like UXO's and finds that could be important from an archaeology perspective are reported to the local authorities.
-Do you sell finds?
I am a collector myself so I hardly sell relics. But if I do then I'll post it on the social media pages or think about becoming a Patron, because I'll share finds with my Patrons (check out the Patreon website for details).
-How do you gain permission for metal detecting?
Check out local laws regarding metal detecting and get permission from the landowner. Or hook up with a local metal detecting club in the area you would like to detect and get your information from them. (I stopped responding to questions like this all together, I'm not google..)
-Can I come with you?
No.
-Will you marry me?
No, lets just be friends.
-I want to see more!
Go check out the social media pages, or consider becoming a Patron! Patrons have access to much
more, special videos, behind the scenes footage and WW2 goodie boxes containing relics me and my friends found over the years.

Those ammo clips are for the 8x56mm Steyr-Manlicher M-1895/30 rifle, I have a couple boxes of live rounds in storage somewhere. As far as I know the 8x56 cartridges were the only ones to be stamped with a Reichsadler head stamp, and that may have only been done for a couple years around 1938. Those rifles were all captured from Austria and primarily issued to police and guard units as I understand
You’re 100% right Mike, war belongs in museum or buried in the dirt. Great content as usual and I look forward to your next video. Take care!
Mike, I have been watching this channel , Lost Battlefields w Tino Struckmann he has been going to different locations like this and doing historical back ground of the sites , he may have been to this one as well
Tino and the history hunter are absolute legends

Everything you show is cool
A lot of area to search. Should search it more. Gotta be some nice finds there.
Cool place to metal detect and great finds!
Had a good time viewing - thanks for sharing
Nice video! This place is definitely worth of further exploring. Funny that I actually found a part of a ballistic missile recently, in my case from the Cold War era
Great video Mike, some interesting finds, and interesting place, amazing 👌👍😀
Ottimo video molto interessante grazie per la condivisione
The rocket factory, wow that’s an awesome area to explore 😮Thanks from the UK, Julie 🙋♀️🤗
Great video Mike!
Very very interesting place to detect! Love the Steyr clip hoard!
Best regards
AC
Thank you for coming by again!
@@IronMikeMetaldetecting of course mate. Always enjoy your videos.
It reminds me to go again to the forest😂
Hope you checked out our latest video!🙂
I've not seen much from the southern flank. So much of history focuses on the east and west fronts, it is good to see and know about the southern front.
I feel so bad when I watch your videos 😪, wasted opportunity when I was in Europe……
Love the content though 🤭
So good to see you back bro. Hope the universe is smiling on you and your family
Pozdrowienia od detektorystuw z Polski

Hey Mike, your German is pretty good.
Did not suspected that you can speak German. Nice Video as always very interesting!
Bizar veel Mannlicher clips. Leuke vondsten weer, bedankt voor het delen👌🏻
The brass looking gear you found looks like a clock or watch mainspring barrel
Another Great video mike, I smashed that like button and so should everyone who takes a look at the video. It always amazes me how many ppl watch and never👇 smash 👀 👍 the like button, It helps support mike every time u do so. 🙂🙂💯✌✌✌
Hi Mike, this “weird looking thing” is brass clock mainspring barrel.
Nice video Mike on an interesting site.
I guess the shell case you found would have had an embossed WW2 German eagle on it if it was a German one, rather than the Hungarian one it actually turned out to be. 😊
I had a mannlicher carbine that took those clips, i still have 2 of the clips new in the box from the 1930s. The original ammunition was 8×50 mm, rimmed ,and bottlenosed ( round) but after the anschluss, the Reich rebarreled the mannlichers for a new 8×56mm pointed " spitzer" bullet which was more modern, but still a rimmed casing. Theres still many of these rifles and carbines in both calibers out there.
My dad was with the us 104th ID. He said the 88's scary as hell
That was a crazy pile of K98 clips... It seemed like you could have dug 1000 times that amount from that spot
Great video, And a very interesting site.. Did you take the Deer antler home, Or have to leave it behind ?
Tolles Video, ich wusste gar nicht dass du Deutsch kannst👍👍👍
9:00 Oh wow, that's from Hungarian tank ammunition 42/38M, "hk" stands for "harckocsi", which means tank. This was the ammo of the Turán tank.
The Mannlicher clips are possibly also hungarian, as an upgraded version of the rifle was the most frequently used infantry weapon of Hungary during the second world war. Many Hungarian divisions fought along with the Germans till the end, and also many of them had the goal to just reach Austria, and go to US captivity, not Soviet.
I know you didn't find a lot of things this time, but I bet there's a lot to be found if you have the time. I would love to explore and metal detect there.
A special lokation😍
5:30 Actually the inner piece of a Panzerfaust warhead, the hollow cone.
Hi Mike, great video, just subscribed. My wife and I will be traveling to Munich from the U.S. in October and I was wondering how hard it would be for me to get a metal detecting permit while I'm over there?
Where exactly is the factory? Great Video as always
Hi Mike, woher kannst du so gut deutsch? Eine sehr nette Location wo ihr da wart. Bleib gesund und weiterhin gut Fund 👍
The Place is in Redl Zipf in Austria
10:08 The control gear from the rocket, or part of the gyroscope?A detail from the brains ?Good signals! In the Smolensk region, during excavations, everything is different.Up to this time, everything is breathing death, the trees are crying.
It looks like fall there already! Is that normal, or is that the result of the heat and drought?
👍🍻✌
Mike, are you allowed to keep the casing's from the K98 riffles?
That's an Artillery Shell
Hungarian product flak 75 shells? Never heard it before
Are most former military use lands now privately owned?
👊😜👍🏴☠
Was the V2 area possibly bombed by allied Air Forces?
Italian carcano clips
okay, thanks!
great video! maybe some less talking, and more digging🤔😉😂
Less commenting, more viewing!
