How difficult was it to remove the battery? Did you make any modifications to the mounting plate to move it to the ideal position on the frame? I have a Specialized fuse 2021 with 52v 17.5 ah shark that barely fits. An inch lower on the tube would make it easier to remove but i need more space on the screw holes.
As a man who suffers from chronic nerdage, I feel your pain mate. When I feel an attack coming on, I lie down in a darkened room and look at rude pictures of undressed hub motors and naked mid drives. My wife wants me to seek help from the local brushless motor support group, but I don't think I'm ready....those guys are really weird.
Brake set-up is English (UK) style. Some would say the American is backwards. Others mite say it's set-up is just different from what I'm used to. Cheers
Replying to this one because you touched on something I always wondered. I have the BBS02 and it came with the lever thumb throttle. Seems like its not variable. Its either on or off. But seems like there's like 2 power modes. Mostly on and them a slightly lower. But its hard to get to the slightly lower one with the thumb switch. But Id say thats the only hidden thing they dont tell you. But you seem to hint on it in this video at the 2:53 mark.
What size is the stumpjumper? I have a 2005 medium almost just like this red one and measured the triangle for fitting a battery inside like you did and it was a questionable fit. It was a battery that measures 14.5 inches x 3.6 x 3.8 in. What is the size of your battery? Did the BBS02 fit in the BB shell without an adapter? Thanks, Mike B
I prefer left thumb throttle. That way if you get in trouble and need to control the bike you're not gripping the throttle. At first I thought I would like a half throttle on the right side like a motorcycle in a way. But on a E-bike I think it's important for safety to have the throttle in a thumb lever.
Hi there, just reviewing all your great vids. Thanks. Looking to convert this type of bike. What space envelope is needed for the battery in the triangle, either for slim profile or regular. Thanks David
Hey Johnny I've got a couple of specialized turbos 1s and One x. I've taken the old clunky motors out of them and thinking about putting the 750 bbs02 in there with a nice 18 amp HR rack battery they should make nice road or gravel bikes. What do you think, leave 29" wheel or 27.5"?
@@JohnnyNerdOut Appreciate the reply! Going to start my first conversion soon, thinking about using a Rockhopper. Any problems with converting that model?
Hi Johnny, down here in New Zealand our bicycles and motor bikes have the Right hand lever for the front brake, thumb throttle on e-bikes is the only way to go.
the derailleur looks pretty stretched 😃 to make the throttle progressive you need to set start current to 5% in the throttle programming menu (Stefan Penov software). then it's actually quite progressive. you should do a fork and shock service on that bike it will be like riding on a couch. I've done it withba 2005 fox float, added some teflon powder on the seals (air shaft, dust seals) and it's better than new. I found zoom hydraulic brake levers with a pressure sensitive cutoff switch, they're pretty damn good, though you can't use the classic funnel for bleeding. pretty much any (cheapest) caliper for mineral oil will make kickass brakes with some ceramic pads
@@JohnnyNerdOut i tried using one of these 9s shimano xt derailleurs with a hanger extender, but this stupid pivot at the mounting bolt makes the derailleur fold towards the chainring. so now I install wide range derailleurs from Ltwoo along with wide range cassettes on all my builds these cheap deraillleurs really work well (I exchange the jockey wheels with ones that are turning on bearings, not bushings)
Hi my frienda. I have got one problem. Sometime my Motor switch on and other switch off. Do you know the answer? Thanks and congratulation for your work!!
All the throttle have a cadence sensor. Exactly the same as hell sensors That exact same throttle I've used the same one. And just like all throttle you can adjust the timing by moving the sensor. Once you have the right timing you just put a bit hot glue on the sensor so it can't move.
I know you always preach gear shift sensors. But how reliable are they? Mine quit working after 6 months. I have to tap the brake when I’m shifting. The gear shift sensor, in my case, was a waste of money. :-(
Dang, that’s a bummer. Good news is that they are fairly cheap to replace. Failure rate in my experience has been pretty low. I think yours is the second now I’ve heard of
The right is ALWAYS supposed to be the front brake. See closest motorcycle for reference. This always grinds my gears when they're reversed. To each his own I suppose.
Hey man I love this channel. Toss some advice plz. I’m want to get a 12000w enduro eBIKE but idk if $5650 CAD is worth it or should I wait for the meta-cycle
eMoped - I agree as a most of life motorcycle rider.... so programmed in brain for right hand FRONT brake which is like 85% of stopping power. If riding FAST & U SLAM On rear brakes 🚲_____ U won’t be riding long U will be crashing. I have been confused as to why bicycle industry did this to this day. Mine are ALL swapped to like my motorcycles: Clutch left , frt brake Rt ⚡️
When I do accents they tend to all start out ok, but then drift into an Australian accent. Unless I start in an Aussie accent, then it drifts into a New York accent. I might need to see a doctor about that.....
Why didn't you mention the cost? So what is the cost for this conversion and maybe say if this is a sweetspot on price vs performance? Mr. Nerd-less-comedy-more-info.
Ya, I've been slammed, just trying to get vids up has been a struggle let alone describe them. You may notice the most recent ones have less and less descriptions. My thinking is "who is reading this if their watching the video" maybe I'm wrong? I usually try to respond to most people
best ebike channel on RUclips
I agree.
I'm glad I went this route ,instead of buying a pre-made ebike. Get a normal bike that fits you well with good brakes and slap a motor on it.
Yup. Information. We all should be doing this. Ford has great deals on F100's, though! Haha!
We are soooooooo behind other countries.
Brakes are like in motorbike. Owner wanted a ultra lightweight motorbike. Totally understand him 😁
Yup, messes me up having the left hand brake the front wheel. Old dog here, new trick.
Great minds think alike. I need my glasses.
Couldn't tell you from my brother at 5 feet.
Fantastic bike!
Brit here. Front brake always on the right in UK, same as motorbike. Nice build mate.
It’s just weird though! Don’t get me started on the metric system! 😀(jk)

Have a similar frame, would love to find out how you fastened that battery.
Get a grin Bottle Bob. Or, drill slots in the metal part of the battery mount and run hose clamps through it if you are super tight on space.

Love the sound effects!😁 Do you know of a good full-suspension step-through bike frame? I’d like more of a sit up, cruiser style bike! Thanks
I know of no full suspension step through bikes......maybe someone else can chime in?
Man I would love to see one of these mid motor conversions on a Schwinn Classic Old School Krate Bike. I have no idea if that is even possible
I’m sure it is
YES , SEE : Electro Heads Chopper ebike conversion on this same Utube platform.
I want to see a belt drive mid drive build please ?
Hey there, can you tell me what size bike this is? Med? Lg?
The BBSHD fit easily and I did a homemade battery to fit.
Doesn't the chain look a bit short, the derailleur is way over near the pedals.
Its in the lowest gear. you want about a links worth of extra play when its in the lowest gear

All bikes here come with a right hand front brake, just like all motor bikes.
Great video! What is the total weight of the bike as shown?
Maybe 35-40#
Where do you buy you stuff at ?
Will these motors and other parts ship to socal? Or are there regulations on what you can buy?
Yes they ship to SoCal 👍 750w is considered street legal.

$465 for a 750w $675 for a 1000w

I buy them assembled. Way too time prohibitive to be worth it
