    INGREDIENTS THAT YOU WILL NEED FOR THIS COOK:
    1 Salmon of your choice (we used local Sockeye)
    1 Cedar Plank
    1 lemon (sliced)
    Fresh dill
    Brown sugar
    pinch of salt
    **HOW TO MAKE THIS EASY CEDAR PLANKED SALMON RECIPE**
    Step #1
    First you are going to take your Cedar Grilling Plank and place it into warm water for 1 hour. This will help keep the wood hydrated so that it won't catch fire during the cook.
    Step #2
    Next you are going to take your fresh salmon and begin to prep it by either removing the skin or leaving it on and scoring the skin side. Scoring will allow more of the wood aromas to absorb into the fish. Next you will place a pinch of salt onto the salmon followed by your brown sugar, fresh dill and lemon slices.
    Step #3
    After your Salmon is all prepped you are going to set up your grill for indirect cooking at around 400 degrees. Once your grill is up to temp go ahead and place your cedar plank face down on the grill for one minute so that it warms the plank a bit and dry's the cooking surface. After this, place your salmon onto the plank, close the lid and begin cooking for 15 minutes at 400 degrees.
    Step #4
    After 15 minutes your Salmon should be done or close to. It is at this point that you will want to take a fork and pull on the salmon to see if it pulls easy and flaky. Is important that you do not overcook it as Salmon only has a short window for perfect doneness. When it is done, remove from the grill and serve.
    That's it, Enjoy.

    This is exactly how I do cedar plank salmon, but I use direct heat on a gas grill which will give you more of that great cedar smoke. Perfect every time.

    Do the coals need to be arranged in a specific matter? Or simply evenly spread out? Thank you

    • @PostalBarbecue

      We usually do indirect cooking banking coals on one side of the grill and cooking on the other.

    "We know when it's done..." - when you use an instant read thermometer. Why in the world would you ruin you salmon by pulling off flakes?

    I fail to understand why so many put sugar on salmon. It is so delish without it. Something about savory food made sweet. Nope not for me. Love love love cedar planked salmon though.

    • @PostalBarbecue
      @PostalBarbecue  2 года назад

      Never heard it or pronounced like that before... Being in the salmon capital of Canada (top areas of the world for salmon) we pronounce it as it should be :) what part of the world are you from? I’m always curious how other areas of the world pronounce things.

  • @victormeldroo

    there's no way a cedar plank will take on water and hydrate so don't waste your time soaking them, they are totally waterproof due the the amount of oil in cedar wood. been cooking with cedar for nearly 30 years

    Sorry that you cannot eat fish, although you do not give good advice on seasoning the plank or solid cook times for salmon... please take off you video, it sucks

    • @PostalBarbecue
      @PostalBarbecue  2 года назад

      Yeah fishing is one of my favorite things to do but yeah.. unfortunately I can’t consume salmon. That said, living in the salmon capital of Canada this is a method that is commonly done here and for good reason. Cheers 🍻
