exiles of culture weve gathered today yet again to consume a Dreamcore video
I thought I'd fully learned about this when I used it on my Rage Vortex Berserker last league. I was wrong! Thanks for the informative video, Dreamcore.
Appreciate that, glad it's helpful!
This jewel is absurdly great. And the reservation of life for an aura its a great point too.
Thank you for not just providing the info in the video, but also updating the wiki with your findings! I think that's a step that many players (myself included) don't do often enough after experimenting.
this is exactly what I wanted to see, we talked about an interaction in one of the vids earlier
Great video. I've always been rather ignorant about this jewel so this was very interesting.
Interaction with Petrified Blood. You divide your incoming damage in half, so you are reserving less life per hit
Aspect of the crab. Hmmm it has been a long while since I built around an aspect. Aspect of spider is really great defence and offence, especially with the body armour. 10% reduced damage dealt. That is not a 21000 hit, it is 18900.
And yes it does a massive difference, just like having an enfeeble aura.
Hmmm dealing less and reduced damage as defence, then I can use pyroclast mine and stormblast mine for my damage, then I just need something that can deal damage quickly such as incinerate, hmmm the spider glovoes gives 20 ES on all hits. So I can get a ton of ES and life on hit, so I can reserve all my mana, and then use life to cast with because of the high speed.
Might be a doable build.
Then also Arctic armour because I am stationary a lot.
Rite of Ruin - Lose 0.1% of Life per second per Rage while you are not losing Rage
Blood Rage - You take 4% of your Maximum Life per second as Physical Damage
Dissolution will reserve life with Blood Rage active, but will not reserve life from Rite of Ruin.
Is Rite of Ruin considered a "Sacrifice" of life like Rathpith Globe?
Yes, Rite of Ruin causes you to lose life, whereas blood rage makes you take damage. The use of RoR with this jewel, Eternal Youth & Petrified Blood is currently one of the strongest use cases, as it also allows you to use any regeneration you have to fuel rage instead with Kaom's Spirit since you need no additional recovery once you have Eternal Youth's life recharge active all the time
It would be so great to have actual game with meaningful combat beneath all this terminology. Yet it stays just that - casino with very complicated rules for people with too much free time.
i don't think you talked about it in this video, but i was actually just working on a build involving the interaction between this jewel and strength of blood that you mentioned in another video and had a question for the KING of dissolution himself. normally, petrified blood gives overleech by itself, but does this go away if more than 50% of life is reserved? if so, don't you need some other source of overleech to make sure that you don't lose the less damage taken from strength of blood when you get low?
Yes, you'll lose overleech if you reserve 50% or more of your life. In general, the interaction of PB + Dissolution and the fact that most builds using that combo will have large life pools, it's quite rare that you'll reserve 50% or more(if you do, you just need to play extra careful for a few seconds for the reservation to fall off, and then you'll be good again). The investment into an extra source of overleech is usually a bit overkill but it is of course something you can look into

Literally just dropped it and this was recommended, what great timing. Because I know jack about it, pretty much. Just that rage vortex builds use it.
That is indeed perfect timing 😆 RV builds make great use of it yeah
Hi, awesome video, and am greatly intrigued. Would the jewel work well with Mahuxotl's shield + Tempered by War with high % max fire, chaos, and phys dmg reduction? It seems like it would be fantastic in combination.
You could make a build using this combination of mechanics, but unfortunately Dissolution's no energy shield modifier makes it so that you cannot proc Everlasting Sacrifice, so you would be missing out on one of the strong parts of Mahuxotl's
Hey mate, maybe you can help in figuring out a popular issue with this jewel on Rage Vortex Berserker - there is issue wherein if you have this equipped with Petrified Blood and Eternal Youth, the recharge will stop if total reserved life becomes 50% of max life. It only happens at that breakpoint, and recharge functions as normal everywhere else. There's a video somewhere demonstrating this as well.
Bro thats Just petrified blood / cant reg over 50% Without Life flask
I've seen this, and I expect it's a bug since recharge just begins again after a few seconds past this - it's possible that there's some weird interaction going on specifically with life recharge, as energy shield recharge doesn't stop at maximum recoverable amount(you can see this with EB and no way to take damage to mana, it's always recharging even if you cast a spell at full ES). Recharge should never stop with this combination of mechanics, so it's unclear exactly why that's happening
does it interact with life reservation efficiency ? also MoM could make it more sustainable especially against dots ?
I honestly didn't think defy pain worked. wth, this is definitely a part of my next build :u
A minor detail that is very important to note is that you can still lose life while using Dissolution of the flesh. If taking damage causes you to reserve over your "real" life then you count as having lost that life. You can think of it as you had to "lose" that life to make room for the reservation.
So lets say you're always at 50% life (petrified blood), you have eternal youth, and you have Defy Pain. As you take damage and reserve your life from 0-50% your recharge will not be interrupted and you won't gain any Defiance stacks because you haven't lost any life. But as soon as you reserve 51% or more, you will count as having lost that 1%+ of life. So your life recharge will be interrupted and you will gain defiance stacks
Hey, does Dessolution of The Flesh works with mastery that increases reservation efficiency of life? Because it works with mastery that gives 1 to all ele res if you reserve life and mana.
All of the modifiers that are currently available for reservation efficiency are specifically for skills, so they have no effect on Dissolution's reservation
Dissolution of the Flesh is not affected by reservation efficiency apparently. Also there's a really complicated interaction with Petrified Blood that I don't really understand.
How does dissolution of the flesh work with blood notch and the recoup mechanic?
I theory crafted a really tanky build that can fit both and the required stun jewel along with petrified blood and progenesis but I’m not sure if it’s worth doing???
It doesn't, as you can't recover the life that's being reserved(since it's now reserved). The recovery occurs in the same instance as the life reservation, and so it's of no benefit unfortunately
@@dreamcore_gg ah darn I was really hoping it would that would’ve been really cool and insanely tanky. Thank you for the response and all the awesome content, please keep it up :)
regarding life loss and life gain, how about life/mana recoup?
lets say you get hit by a 1000 fire damage attack and you have 90% fire res and 10% recoup. will you gain 10 or 100 life over 4 seconds? and how many recoup pools can you have?
You'd recoup 10 life over 4 seconds, as recoup is calculated from damage taken. Recoup is limitless, as long as a hit deals damage, it will cause a recoup 'instance'. Important note: recoup is not tied to life loss, you can recoup a hit that doesn't cause any life loss ie. if that hit only dealt damage to your energy shield or ward.
Do i need any source of hp regen if i reserve life(im using jewell)? like even if i got 1hp/5000 it still should reserve so i see no point of sustain high life
If using just the jewel with nothing else, you need no recovery as you're able to reserve life that you don't have. However, one of the most useful interactions is with Petrified Blood, in which case you'll need some form of recovery to counter the life loss mechanic from the PB buff, as it's lethal if it brings your actual life to zero
@@dreamcore_gg ah ty man tbh every build i play have CB immune
@@nater8410 Petrified blood is not Corrupted Blood. Petrified blood is a skill gem that reserves mana (or life if using arrogance) to make a portion of hit-damage you take below the half-life threshold not remove life instantly and instead it prevents a portion of it, but causes you to lose the unprevented portion to be taken over 4 seconds. Basically it makes damage taken from hits drain your HP instead of remove your HP.
Corrupting blood is the debuff which is applied by certain modifiers and also one you can apply with Corrupting Fever which causes targets suffering the debuff to take physical damage over time.
this is just too much, I can accept everything , but this, trying to wrap my head around it I'm not gonna waste life force
I assume it doesn't - but I really think any Life Reservation Efficiency should apply to reservation due to the jewel.
That would make it quite op I think, but yes, it doesn't since all modifiers that can apply to life reservation are specific to skills only
@@dreamcore_gg A man can dream >_
The jewel should be changed to only reserve damage from hits, not ANY damage. That would make it really awesome. DOTs are the real killer with this jewel.
Hope they change it.
I like how more than %80 of PoE players doesn't care about all these mechanics and following the best dps bow or pathfinder build guide every single league.
