You have so many more surprises ahead with Ren. This band The Big Push is the modern day Beatles, they are that good. Try Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard for more busking, War Pigs if you want to go hard core. If you want something more scaled back from these guys try Praise You and Bongo Bong, both are short videos. Ren also has some great busking videos with Sam Tompkins, who is a great singer himself, I recommend Earned It/Man's World/Falling, it's falsetto heaven. Also, don't wait long for Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla. You could go with your listen to the lyrics only first if you promise to then watch the video, but it has to be the live version. How are you about rapping because Ren is a world class rapper, from pen to flow to whatever else makes a great rapper. Don't ask me, Ren is about the only rapped I have listened much too and I love it, from fun ones like Losing It and What You Want to harder core like Murderer, do the live version. You will find that going with the live version is always a great choice with Ren. I'll stop for now, but the amount of work this man has put out is amazing and it's all great.
The other guitarist is Romain Axisa and he's got his own music as well. "Goodbye Good Days" is an amazing artistic track, and he has a great busking video doing "Georgia on my Mind"
Loved your reaction! You are right, he has so much soul in his voice, shown in many of his songs but the Jamaican vibe brought with this song shows his and the band's reggae/ska influence.
I've known Brighton since the early 1970s, and have lived there twice, or near it. But I haven't been since the 1990s. It's always had a big musical scene and culture thing, both formal concerts, and street music. I saw Don Mclean performing at the Brighton Dome in the mid-1970s, as part of the Brighton Culture Festival. I'd have really liked to have seen Ren and The Big Push. I've seen some amazing street performances. Brighton was the first place I ever saw skateboarding, maybe the early 1970s.
Ren has many more surprises in store for you. The Big Push have easily a dozen great videos alone. Bongo Bong and Praise You are a couple of other great covers. Sweet Little Lady - both the official and live versions - is also a great song.
The next two videos from this session are both amazing too. After this one is "War Pigs" ( actually more of an Ozzy Osbourne mashup) and "Paint it Black". You need to hit them up next.
The band would put it out on socials that they would be playing somewhere at a certain time. They did a nationwide tour doing that. On other vids you'll see maybe Ren and someone else, plus wheelbarrow to carrry the gear around.
Hi dear Ashlena ! Wow, I haven't seen this video yet and I have to say I am very impressed... by Ren's vocals, his band's playing skills, their ability to improvise... simply everyrthing is great in this video ! And I loved your reaction to ir, as well, of course. Here are some more Ren / Big Push stuff you should definitely check out : The Big Push . Englishman in New York (Sting cover) Ren & Chinchilla : Chalk outlines (Live) Ren & Chinchilla : Sexual healing (Live) (Marvin Gaye cover) Ren & Chinchilla : How to be me (A song, Ren wrote after losing hs best friend, who committed suicide) Ren : Sick boi Ren : Suicide Ren : Murderer (Live Acoustic) (TOTALLY different - and in my opinion - even better than the original version) of course, there are more, but these are the ones that impressed ME the most. Can't wait to see your next uploads... Best wishes from your newest fan : Gerry
There are a couple playlists with the big push live sessions from random spectators. can't wait for you to check out his live versions of songs with Sam and Chinchilla.
From my understanding, they have a very big busking scene there, much like the French Quarter of New Orleans. Dedicated areas to live performances that are normally full of people. Ren has talked about it a bit in interviews and how much he loves street performances. Saying the people who stop to listen to you are intrigued and are under no obligation or expectation to stay. They are there because they like what they hear.
I loved the look on your face a few times there. Thanks for checking this one out. Funnily enough his latest release (a live acoustic version of “Murderer”) has more than a hint of reggae about it. With the intro giving a nod to “Jamrock.”
He and the Band hits on every scale for me .His own music does the same. They are excellent all members in their own right .to get these together is amazing.
That was soooo cool. I could listen for hours... but don't you have this feeling also: I am getting so sad while listening to Ren, cause I have his tragic life of him on my mind. Always.
Id pay ya to do his recent songs Back on 74 and Fred Again mashup if i could!!! Trust the stranger on the interweb... theyre Far different than whatcha done so far from him! You Will enjoy them! Love them actually!!!
Another great reaction. "The Big Push" busking sessions, concerts, and live recordings all are amazing and well worth checking out. The members of "The Big Push" are all independent solo artists who struck up a friendship, moved in together, and formed the band. Ren Gill, Gorran Kendall, and Romain Axisa take turns singing lead vocals at times, except for the drummer Glen Chambers. However, each of the band members is currently focusing on a solo career due to Ren's absence. Here is the link to their YT channel: www.youtube.com/@TheBigPushBand The band, at least for the time being, performed their last official busking session and gave their last concert in September 2022 due to the fact that Ren was leaving for Canada to undergo specialized medical care and surgeries for his multiple health issues. I believe they did record some songs yet to be released. No telling what the future holds for them, individually or as a group. Their covers of "I Shot The Sheriff/Road To Zion/Hip Hop," "Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble So Hard," "Watch Out," “War Pigs,” “Roadhouse Blues,” "My Generation," “Paint It Black,” "An Englishman in New York," “Bongo Bong,” and many others are all awesome. On “These boots are made for walking’/Satisfaction/Everybody,” “Praise You” (Fatboy Slim Cover), and “What Kind Of Woman Is This,” all three take a turn singing. Their original songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” “Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," “Dignity,” “Watch Out” and so many others are equally impressive. Gorran Kendall is a singer/songwriter/busker from the UK. He plays the bass, electric and acoustic guitar, the harmonica, and frequently sings lead for "The Big Push." As a solo artist, he is a folk singer, and his music is reminiscent of 60s folk. I love Gorran's music. Here is the link to his YT channel: www.youtube.com/@GorranKendall Romain Axisa is a singer/songwriter/busker originally from Toulouse, France, where he started playing the guitar at age 12. At age 14, he was the singer in a rock band and later became a rapper. He plays guitar, bass, piano, and the ukulele (pineapple ukulele) featured in the song "Bongo Bong." In addition, Romain sings lead on a few "The Big Push" songs. His solo music is unique, and I don't know what genre it would be categorized as. I really enjoy his music as well. Here is the link to his YT channel: www.youtube.com/@RomainAxisa I would highly recommend watching/listening to their song "Dignity." Not only is it a beautiful song but the accompanying music video offers the audience an intimate view into their day-to-day on and off-stage interaction. It's almost like being there with them in their home, on the streets, and on stage. It is one of my favorite videos and has been very underappreciated and overlooked by most reactors and fans alike. Here is the link to the video: ruclips.net/video/3E37nzXX-4g/видео.html
❤ Great reaction can you imagine the next track they covered was Black Sabbath “War Pigs 🐷 “ you should react to that. Lots of love, peace and good vibes from Australia.
Great reaction! Glad you got around to reacting to "The Big Push" Their collective and individual street performances are Epic and can go from a street full of people all the way down to a couple of people and a dog. As far as what to react too next from their extensive catalogue? I can see you already had a bunch of demands telling you you have to do this or do that next! Honestly....i've already sussed that you'll do whatever you feel drawn to reacting too. But having said that i'd definitely recommend you checkout some of their original material as it well worthy of a reaction or two. But the reaction i'd most like you to do is their Ridiculously cool Rooftop rendition of "Bongo Bong" by a French-Spanish singer Manu Chao. I think you'll love that! All the best & keep on keeping it real
See you have a "No Doubt" album there, have you looked at Postmodern Jukebox covering "Don't speak" you really should its a very good cover/rearrangement. As are most of PMJs covers. New(ish) track in a vintage style
In the same vein take a look at the Postmodern Jukebox cover of "Creep" by Haley Rainhart, who just happens to be the same lady who features in "Don't Speak" although she is not the only star in their line up, Morgan James has managed 30 million hits with her/their version of "Dream On" ("Creep" managing 118 million and "Don't Speak only hitting 6.7 million at the moment)@@ashlenamusic
Post production mixing and mastering. They had the instruments mic'd and running through individual channels on a mixing board to a audio interface. they get the raw sound of the performance and then can go back and master the levels, add reverb, compress the sound, reduce the crowd background noise, etc.

Can’t beat live music - so much talent! Ren is so versatile. Love his stuff! He has a lot of great material.
Loved your reaction! You are right, he has so much soul in his voice, shown in many of his songs but the Jamaican vibe brought with this song shows his and the band's reggae/ska influence.
The perfect reaction to this Iconic street performance. Bongo Bong is wonderful by The Big Push also Wade in the Water medley.

Brighton kids having a good time!

I shot the sheriff is also covered by Eric Clapton on the album 461 ocean boulovard . . Great album . . Motherless Children is worth a listen
All the tracks recorded from this red Suspenders show are Great!!
There are several!
Love this video. If I may, The Big Push - Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble So Hard is also a very good one worth checking out. 😊
yeah this one
Ren doing Jeff Beck licks.
The next two videos from this session are both amazing too. After this one is "War Pigs" ( actually more of an Ozzy Osbourne mashup) and "Paint it Black". You need to hit them up next.
Bongo Bong, the big push. You won’t be disappointed.
Trust the stranger on the interweb Sis... his Ready for You track is another Great visualizer video!!! 😊
His Love Music part 4 dropping in 3.5 hours!!! Let's Go!!!!
The band would put it out on socials that they would be playing somewhere at a certain time. They did a nationwide tour doing that. On other vids you'll see maybe Ren and someone else, plus wheelbarrow to carrry the gear around.
Haha that’s amazing!
❤ get well soon x
Ren is just insane at everything he does! The other guitarist is Romain Axisa, he’s great too! This is my favourite of Ren/The Big Push’s mash ups. 🖤

Love the big push & really enjoyed watching your respectful response. Oh❤️😊
Appreciate it!
Do You Believe, Dear God, Diazepam are a few if your looking to check out some non hip hop/rap, live or performance pieces.

Uploading my reaction to that today if my power comes back on 😩
Voice sounds fine, if you hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't know there was a problem.
Ha thanks
Some Sting, the police covers would be just perfect for him, but this one is really good.
He and the Band hits on every scale for me .His own music does the same. They are excellent all members in their own right .to get these together is amazing.
New layer of Ren unlocked!
That was soooo cool. I could listen for hours... but don't you have this feeling also: I am getting so sad while listening to Ren, cause I have his tragic life of him on my mind. Always.
@@eryksun interesting
Yes his situation is super sad. Glad I can support him though through his music

🎉🎉🎉 Wonderful
🎉
Ren can do it 😁👊💟
❤ Great reaction can you imagine the next track they covered was Black Sabbath “War Pigs 🐷 “ you should react to that.
Lots of love, peace and good vibes from Australia.
Dead prez so classic so good 🙏
ren has jamacian accent dialect where he is from is where jamacians migrated to thus trust if he went full true accent n slang ya mind would explode!
Bob Marley's father was English.
There is a big connection between the UK and Jamaica.
if you like damien marley then check out ren and shawn tompkins covering waling on the moon/no diggity. great little surprise on that one

How does this sound so good being filmed outdoors?
So true

Yeah cos only black people have soul... ok tell all the great white soulful singers that have been through history that they didnt exist
Not to mention all the other races
I never said only black people have soul… you ok?
@@ashlenamusic you definitely said something that suggested you were shocked that he had soul and that he must have some black in him
