Use the gasket as a template for hole...its an oval cut not round , so much easier .

Why did you use pop rivets vs screws ?

Bass pro rod holders are flush mount so you don’t even need to cut out that big ugly ass hole.
Also, use some type of bolts and nuts.
Don’t use janky ass wood screws.
