I have never used a feda myself, I have only used the conventional sword shapes for a little over 20 years now. I recently purchased the SIGI king and I have to say I absolutely "love it". I got some custom fittings in the regular blade length. I have not found it floppy especially in the bind it's responsive, it is positive in the hands, it's super responsive in general and feels very well balanced. *Important to know for anyone looking at SIGI, they are easy to order from, they are responsive and reliable. I might have said most of what Federico reviewed, his review was right on point. (no pun intended).
What is your height? From what i've read online, if a person is 175-180ish people recommend the shorty but if you're 180cm+ people recommend the standard.
Thanks for this cool review. I wanted to go with sigi for my first feder, but the delivery time was to long (7 months). For my following weapons I guess I will buy their products
The Sigi King Standard is the best feder I've sparred with, no contest. (subjectively) Its combined ability to durchwechseln and also maintain purchase in the bind is unmatched. It's also excellent for the "great sweeps" that Meyer and the Kolner Fechtregeln describe. It is very much my favorite sword I own.
Maestro in my study group (here in São Paulo, Brasil) we are using this sword as a model to make our training swords. A sword identical to this Sigi, good sword for training (and beautiful as well) made by the best craftsman here, costs something like 350 dollars.
My experience with King is that it does have a "noodleliness". If you just swing it around like a stick it's gonna be really floppy. Instead, one needs to really access when, and the angle of your strikes. It forces you to be more careful and precise. And yes, the power comes from the weight of it. If you get hit with the mid section it's gonna hurt a big more. The tip, not so much. I suppose one should at least try to handle a blunt once to get to know what it's like. It's like a end of semester exam: If you train right, a blunt should feel right, or at the least not awkward.
hello, thanks for the review video! I also recently saw your Ensifer Corona review: you show the front pivot point there; Could you measure/show it for the Sigi King as well? Cheers!
I have heard some people complain that the Sigi King is too "floppy" however another reviewer remarked that the floppiness only really happens if your edge placement, structure and technique is poor so it is a feder that teaches you to use better technique...i have no idea if that is merit to that claim but this sword shape is something that i would love to eventually get.
Federico would you be so kind to explain the difference between Posta Dente di Zenghiaro and the apparent variation , Posta Dente di Zenghiaro Messana whenever you get to this posta video.
@@jeremywatson9129 in terms of handling it’s probably one of my first two choices in terms of Feders, it moves very well. And its stiffness makes it so good at binding actions. There’s a safety trade off, it needs good training partners and awareness. But I’m still of the same idea of my old review on many aspects.
@@jeremywatson9129 I have an Ensifer Corona and it's the best sword I ever used. The fact that it's on the stiffer side, while still being safe, is what makes it perfect. A sword shouldn't be wobbly
It's too bad you didn't discuss the blade length available. I have a King in "shorty" size, and in my opinion it's the perfect length for this model. The standard length feels a bit wobbly.
That's good to hear as I placed an order for King shorty a few months back :P No one in my club has one other then a couple of Sigi Feder Shorty's which are really lovely and nimble.
Well I reviewed the sword I own, then of course on the website you can customize it. Buying a shorter sword makes for a completely different way of fencing which would not even reflect what I said.
Well, by which kind of perspective? To be clear, a 460 mm naval gun compared to a hunting rifle may easily be considered “a better gun than”, but they serve/served two radically different scopes which weren’t interchangeable. Same is in a lower scale for this two weapons. The first being a crow control/war weapon, he latter being a side-weapon for civil and military life, a multi purpose tool.
@@hugo-pg5tv duels carried out with the same weapon tend to balance things, so there’s no difference in what you are using, be it clumsy or agile, as the opponent suffers the same pros and cons as you. Spadone has double the reach of a Katana roughly but requires more space and effort to start the motion, and needs to be kept in motion always. Katana is lighter and shorter and so it can start and stop motions easily, but it has lesser reach and blows are far lesser powerful.
@@FedericoMalagutti let's say if u take 2 equaly skilled swordsman and they will fight to the death in an open area. But 1 guy has a spadone and the other a katana. Who would have the advantage?
Thank you for your review Federico! But I felt that this review feels a little rushed and less polished compared to your older videos. Would love to see a follow-up on this when you have more sparring / tournament session with it!
I would say that the main motivation to buy it is to have a shiltless sparring sword that is still wide enough near the hilt.

Very good!

Thanks for the honesty! Appreciated
Can I ask which is faster/more agile? Sigi King or Sigi Gothic? I'd like to know some differences in how both of them feel
They feel the same to me honestly.
I ordered a king partially based on this review and I love it!

great review , would this handle better than the standard regenyei feder ?
I personally prefer it. Yes. But it’s a personal preference also.

i really like teh Krieger Armory Sentinel's shape and one day hope to own one of those.@@FedericoMalagutti

Ciao Alessandro, grazie! Buona fortuna per gli allenamenti futuri!
So does the king perform better in the bind than the Sigi sword?
How is the hilt? It looks fairly narrow. Does wearing gloves make it harder to feel for edge alignment?
I find it normal, it’s not too narrow imo
You should try the Shorty one if you haven't. All the benefits and less of the drawbacks (like the bit too wobbly, hanging point and stronger hit)
Well, there’s a new drawback! Reach! Hehe ;-)
@@FedericoMalagutti hehe, well yeah :)
