  • This video shows the viscosity and flow characteristics of correctly hydrated Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) Solutions at a range of concentrations up to 3%.
All samples were dispersed and hydrated using a Silverson High Shear Laboratory mixer. Results will vary according to the type and grade of CMC used.
Higher concentration can be achieved depending on the ingredient type.
Silverson Machines offer equipment for high viscosity mixes from Laboratory scale up to full production.

Thank-you. I'm shopping for surfactants, and was wondering how much I might need. This helped a lot.

High Shear can help to avoid CMC agglomerating, you can see an example of this in our how to video here: ruclips.net/video/7W2pEx0_qKg/видео.html

In food can be used as a thickening and stabilising agent in beverages, cheese, ice cream, sauces, baked goods and frozen desserts. It is also used as a tablet binder and can be found in toothpaste and drilling muds.
