Just stumbled across your wonderful video! As a German, I find it very interesting what other people think about us and our culture! If I may, I'd like to add some of my thoughts on the video from my own perspective!
    1) Language is indeed quite important in Germany. While you can survive day to day speaking English, I agree with you that it's good if you arrive here with at least a bit of German knowledge to work with. It leaves a great impression as Germans see it as respectful to engage with them and their culture. You can be very proud of your own hard work, Amara, German is a very unforgiving language to learn.
    2) Yup, punctuality is very important. I usually plan so that I arrive slightly before the agreed-upon time so I can get there relaxed without having to worry or rush. Not being on time is usually seen as disrespectful, though I think most people are forgiving as long as it isn't a habit and you let them know. Maybe time is seen as more of a limited commodity here, who's to say?
    3) I've caught myself waiting at a crosswalk past midnight with no car in sight. I think that's all the confirmation I have to give on the "law and order" mentality. The bureaucracy is incredibly annoying though and I hope they cut down on it.
    4) I think Germans can be quite direct, but I disagree with the black and white thinking.
    5) Germans probably aren't the most outgoing, no. We also aren't known for our great humor. But, as you said, we have our own ways of socializing, even if these are different or strange compared to what you're used to.
    6) Speaking of socializing: Fests! The Oktoberfest is a traditional festival held in Munich as you correctly stated. Oddly enough, it starts mid-September and lasts until the first week of October. It came to be in 1810 when crown-prince Ludwig I. of Bavaria hosted public festivities to celebrate his marriage to Princess Therese and became an annual local tradition from thereon. Must have been a pretty good wedding...
Now, the Oktoberfest is a very local tradition, so don't expect any authentic Oktoberfest madness if you don't live near Munich. Of course, there are other local fairs you can visit, and you maybe should, considering how overcrowded Oktoberfest has become.
The regalia you mention is called "Tracht". Traditionally, men wear so-called "Lederhosen", a type of leather shorts with braces. It's often accompanied by a shirt, socks, a leather vest, and a hat with a "feather" of a chamois. Women wear a "Dirndl", a type of summer dress. Interestingly, the position of the bow on the waistband communicates the woman's relationship: If the bow is on her left, it means she's single, if it's on the right she's in a relationship. If it's front and center she doesn't want to tell and if it's on her back she's windowed (or she's a server).
It should be noted here that Lederhosen and Dirndl are only home to parts of southern Germany and Alpine countries. Other German regions have their own traditional dresses.
As far as beer is concerned, beer is seen as a casual drink as you noted, but drinking beer in the morning is seen as weird in most of Germany. There's even the saying: "Kein Bier vor Vier" (no beer before 4 o'clock). Judging by the number of people who have beer for lunch not everyone takes this word for word though ;)
    7) Not much to add to accommodations. I think you did a good summary of what's important to know.
    8) Nothing to add to the education segment either.
Again, great video, really enjoyed hearing your perspective! Sorry, I know this turned out super long, but thank you for reading if you got all the way to the end!
    Cheers!

    1. The rules and laws developed over centuries because something happened in the past that ended up in front of a court, or someone got hurt or killed. We write it into law with the intention to prevent more cases in the future. It's about improving your life for the future. Not learning from your mistakes would mean stagnation.
    2. All the bureaucracy is basically laws turned into action. Yes some stuff seems to be complicated, but there is always a reason for that (for example preventing people from cheating when applying for a visa). The processes also take that long because most of the times there is more than one person involved. That's basically how you make sure that you keep corruption low.
    3. Guidelines are a huge factor why "Made in Germany" stands for quality.
    4. Planning and punctuality: Well I need to do a lot of stuff during my week. If I want to pull it off I need to make plans. If you start messing with my plans by just showing up as you please or not being on time I get the feeling that you don't value my time and that is disrespectful. I am asking myself: How do you get stuff done, if you always drop what you are doing at the moment just because some neighbor is coming over for a chat?
    5. Privacy: In my opinion there is some stuff that is not other persons business. That even counts for my friends and I don't like people that want to gossip. Besides that Germans that lived in the DDR know very well what it feels like when you have a spying agency (STASI) that collects every information about its citizens and if you say something wrong to your neighbor they put you in prison. Peoples lives have been destroyed because of it and that is probably why it's valued highly.
    6. Speaking English: It's not like you can expect Germans to wait for a Nigerian girl to turn up in Germany so that they can talk English to her. A lot of people don't need it in their daily live and therefore they just know basics from school. It's basically the same if you go to France or Italy (especially French really "dislike" learning English).

Apply this "shocks" to west Africa and it would be a powerhouse by tomorrow. All the rules, bureaucracy and punctuality are not really "German" but a necessity for a every high industrial modern country integrated in a global value chain. Machines, shipments, global value chains do not wait for you and your "flexibility" to plan your day 😁 . Also the bureaucracy may appear as pain in the *** but it also gives reassurance and benefits to many social stakeholders from normal citizen to economy. From money for having a children to property rights. From not living under the bridge because society will help you with money to tax refunds.

There are several easy methods: you start with practicing, do some practice and keep practicing. As far as I tried that method works for other languages as well (•‿•)
